Moderator's Report

Once again, I ask racers to be more cautious during the start and the first lap.
You cannot win a race only making a great start ...moreover when you are 10th or 15th on the grid !

Server replay time: 0h00m51s

Phil Thornton did a great start but there was a side by side contact with Fabio Locarno at the first turn.
Looking at the replay, there was no really contact but GPL crashbox didn't help !

Server replay time: 0h01m00s

Nigel Smith, starting on the end of the grid, made a very quick start with his heavy BRM and tried to overtake several cars in a dangerous way on the first meters and he collided with two cars.
This first incident was the rootcause of other collisions.

penalty of 2 places + 1 for red zone.

  • Nigel Smithpenalty — Very ambitious overtake — 3 places lost

Server replay time: 0h01m45s

Michael Turner went out of the track during first lap and still on red zone.
He made a bad rejoin on the track (on rear gear, he could not see any other car on that way) and collided with Nigel Smith.

penalty 1 place + 1 for red zone

Server replay time: 0h29m26s

Phil Thornton was overtaking Andreas Gebhardt on the long straight but on the turn to the left before the "stadium" there was a side by side contact.

Phil had the inside line but Andreas tried to take his normal racing line, he should have left enough room to the inside car in such a case.

Here again, looking at the replay, the 2 cars were very close but there was not real contact.
So penalty will be simple side by side contact but not blatant contact.

I've never raced here before and found it to be very enjoyable - a good combination of gradients and fast, flowing corners - apart from the concrete tyres which always give me the shivers. I managed to avoid the initial pile up and gained a sackful of places but soon threw them all away with an excursion up the bank. There followed two blown engines in quick succession which put an end to my race. I can't remember the last time an engine blew up on me so I guess it must just have been one of those random occurrences.

What can be best described as a midfield performance.
Hendy & Rainier were a class apart & Cookie decided to do a whole race.
Picked up a few places on Lap 1 & managed to keep Phil’s Cooper at bay for about 5 laps until he worked out quicker than me that the BRM had pulled left on the straight to leave us room. Had a minor altercation with team mate DC on Lap 6. I think this cause some minor damage somewhere as my lap times dropped back to 1.49’s which should otherwise have been 1.46’s. May have been a blessing in disguise as the rest of the race was rather lonely & but incident free on a rather tricky but otherwise enjoyable track.

We have races coming up at Spa & Tripoli so might have to rest the dependable Brabham for something with a bit more top end speed.

 Grats to Hendy on the win and David for a solid second place (that was a strong result for the championship - you're going to be hard to beat now!).

Have a look to Hendy's token : now he has 38 tokens (and me only 10).
38 tokens for 4 races means that he could choose the Lotus 3 times and the Eagle the 4th !
Moreover, Hendy has 61 pts less than me but if you substract the 2 worst results, it will be -54 for me and -23 for Hendy !
So only 30 pts less than me !
And you, Phil, are between us ...so the championship is far to be finished !

Hendy's race was great, yesterday. I tried all what I could but Hendy was too fast.
When I saw I was 1minute in front of  Axel, I took a maximum of risks because shift-R + Stop and Go take < 1 mn, but it was not possible for me to follow Hendy.

Corrected results so far ....

Rainier = 186   + 10 tokens
P.T.       = 171  + 12
Hendy   = 156  + 38 ( thanks to living in Honda )
Bernie  = 126 + 20
Angex  =  124 + 10
D.C.     = 121 +  19

Pretty close at the top , but as you say Hendy has a tokens advantage though I doubt he needs them  Smiley

No, only 156 for Hendy (179-23-0) ...hopefully for Phil and me  Grin

Another thing - this league is getting very competitive. Hendy's qualifying time would have put him P2 in the Works race.

Not sure its a big issue, but I think my tokens are wrong.

By my calculation I should have got 5 for entering the league, as this was the 6th race (A driver who fails to start any of the first 5 races will only be eligible for an initial allocation of 5 tokens (rather than 10) but will still receive a further 10 tokens for each race they start (including their first race).

Paid 5 for the Cooper = 0

Plus 10 start  = 10

I have 15 showing.  I'm not fussed but it could be used to take advantage.  I don't think I'll be challanging for the championship but I wouldn't want the Australian bloke currenlty in 18th to moan when I beat him.  Wink

Well that was an entertaining race for me ...  Then I had a great battle with Andreas but we touched on the fast left kink, I survived but Andreas went wide.  Bad luck, I'll submit a report but I think I'm in the clear on that one...

Yeah, a really great enjoyable battle that was! Even when I went wide, I survived too. Think only lost 1 or 2 places. In my opinion it was not a big thing. By the time I was heading to the apex you were already there and I took the "Survival-Lane" .  Smiley

All in all it was another good Race over here.
Congratulation to the Podium!

So long
Andreas

I just had a look at the replay for the start of this race.
I think I will have lot of works for moderation Embarrassed
I still don't understand why some racers take so much risks at the start of a 42 laps race !

Francesco (Molteni) was a great victim of this start and I would like to know why he did not make a Shift-R  (disconnection or ...disgust ?)
