Moderator's Report

Not too much to bother the moderator but lots of close racing gives big chances for incidents...

Server replay time: 0h13m27s

Cookie has been chasing Marco hard. Both brake late for T1 and Marco takes a very defensive line. Cookie is carrying too much speed to back out and sticks his Porsche down the inside. Marco is committed to the corner and contact is inevitable.

Neither driver gives any quarter - Cookie could have backed out and Marco could have left more room but the rules are clear - it is up to the driver attempting the pass to ensure it is done cleanly.

Cookie's speed at the corner was higher than normal but he could have made the corner but only with Marco's help in leaving room. That was never going to happen.

The rules do not fit exactly but the best fit is: "The overtaking car had NOT achieved a 50% or greater overlap at the point of turn-in. There was no loss of control by either driver. Penalty for overtaking driver."

Note that on this lap Marco turns in earlier than normal and I have taken the point of turn in as closer to the apex which gives Cookie a fractional overlap. Hence only a 1 place penalty.

The place to put your view of a disputed incident is, generally, not the forum.

I am unclear how I am 'covering my arse' since I am asking people NOT to discuss it so that I get an unbiased view.

I most certainly did not put words in anyone's mouth and I am unclear why you think I did. I do not think that either driver was well advised to post what they did about this.

As for doing my job fairly, I stand by every judgement I make since I can be 100% certain I make them honestly and impartially.

I try to explain better, pardon my horrible english.

Sorry Marco for the touch in the hairpin, some Moderators have to judge!
and this is a way he, not you, cover his arse.

Nobody put your honesty or your work in doubt but nobody start a dispute: one driver apologize for his conduct envisaging that he must be judged, the other replies that he was hit and have no doubt about.
No offenses, no swearing, no dubt about the jury, no doubt about facts.

Ah ok, Roberto. I did wonder if there was some Ital-glish going on.

Just for general info, any incident is looked at by the series moderator (but moderators cannot look at their own incidents). Some are very clear cut and they are easily dealy with but others are more difficult to call. The better the driver the tougher the call usually. In these cases, as a Moderator, I ask other moderators to take a look at the incident and we try to come to a consensus.

If the driver is unhappy they can appeal and then we look at the incident very closely with a panel of up to four senior moderators who will examine the incident frame by frame.

In this case, I am ruling on this one and Cookie has no input whatsoever which is why I said it might have been better not discussing on the forum.
