Moderator's Report

Zolder67 is a great track wich provides great racing.
No incidents reported and a single incident in the red zone.

Server replay time: 0h01m05s

Al and Natan have a good start and go into T1 side by side.
Natan keeps on the left inside but touches the gras on the exit what makes him move a little to the right.
Al took T1 on the outside, he can't see Natan but moves to the left.
So both cars do a move towards the other...

Well, someone switched cars on me between qually and the race!!  The waza was like a totally different animal chasing Hristo on the first few laps.

Eventually the brakes caught me out at T1. They did not exactly catch me out, more like they vanished altogether!!! and I took a trip over the berm  Shocked

After that little excursion things were definitely "not good" and I slipped back even further.

Apologies to Axel ( I think ? ) for getting in his way when I was trying to avoid Al's gearbox.

As an aside, does anyone know if it is possible to get spare microswitches for the paddles on a G25? My upshift has decided that it wants to be semi automatic...but only sometimes, and will happily upshift 2 or 3 gears in the space of about 100 mtrs, without any human input, or any action by me either!! I think it needs some attention and I have a large mallett that looks to be about the right size to solve the problem  Wink

Use the H-pattern Clive - It's superior in every way  Grin

Erm, if you can get a picture of said microswitches and send me the numbers writed on them I can look into it for you at work Smiley

I had a great race and lovelly holiday halfway through it - I span into T1 while close (Maybe too close) behind H and then spent nearly 2 minutes trying to dig myself back down. Eventually rejoined a lap down and just behind the 3rd place man  Sad

Had a great battle with him and eventually got back ahead to try and start gaining as much time as posible over the back of the field incase of accidents or offs - nothing - nada.
No blighter span or crashed so all that my efforts got me was 9th and a lap behind everyone  Roll Eyes

Oh well. Great track and some great racing when I wasn't building sand castles  angel

I was thinking that the honda broke the engine so I drive more slowly  , but sudenly I look pribluda and see H. comming very fastly .... I try to resist but he was faster than me, and so I finish second ....

thanks all .....c u in silver Wink

Tim said,

I must confess I have been considering switching to the shifter, but I am concerned about changing/adding extra software to GPL ( GPL Shift?) Knowing my luck I will totally screw up GPL on my computer.!!  or is it idiot proof?

Also, does installing GPL Shift cancel the use of the paddles for gear changing??

Hi Evil, as you well know nothing is idiot proof in GPL it is rather sure that something will mess up BUT do it anyway because there are many other good things about GPL shift, like change FOV easily while driving, looking around in different angles and you can still use any buttom for anyting like paddles for shifting if you like. Besides to use H-sifter will slow you down initially  Grin

I'm local enough to help you if needed remember Clive Wink

I found the read me for GPL-shift covered it all pretty well as I remember it.  Smiley
Think it cancels using the paddles - if not you could always just reassign them to something you won't use if you're worried about unintended gear changes

One thing I will mention is that Logitech's support (in my experience) is fantastic!

My G25 was nearly 2 years old & the H-shifter was becoming rather erratic.   I contacted their support to see if there were any DIY tips for me;  instead they just asked for 2x photos of my device & my address.  A complete setup arrived a day or 2 later.   Mmmm... that new G25 smell Smiley

ok, the G25 is outdated these days - but maybe it's worth approaching Logitech anyway if you haven't already.    Otherwise replace the microswitches as per the original plan;  or back up your GPL folder, install GPLshift & get the H earning it's desk-space!

Incidentally,   that nasty domed badge in the middle of the gear-knob is easily replaced with a 27mm sticky domed acrylic badge [Ebay].  Worked for me & my delicate skin;  no more excessive gear-change welt as a result.

Cheers,
Dave.

You have H-shifter and not been using it, Evil? Do it, it makes your gear shifts instantaneous, no 0.222 spent in neutral! It really makes a difference on faster tracks.

It also facilitates somewhat more radical setups - like the one I used a few seasons ago to give me 2 first gears at Pebble Beach  Grin

OK you guys I've done it! well almost done it I guess Roll Eyes So be warned !! there may be some spectacularly erratic driving from one of the wazas in a great many races for the forseeable future!!  scared scared scared

I have installed GPL Shift and now have the gearknob affixed to the desk.
I have gears working, but only as a sequential shift (i.e. pull gear lever back and it shifts up, push gearlever forward and it shifts down.) It feels a little unnatural after 10 years of using the paddles, but it works. smartass

BUT,
When I switch to "H" mode, although the gear stick moves through the "H" pattern it does not select the gears?? oops

Also the clutch pedal  does not seem to perform any function. death

I notice in the readme file that the ini file should be amended to read 1 instead of 0 for the clutch to operate, am I reading that correctly and is that what is missing? blink

edit....9:45pm after trying "sequential" option in a Ford Gt mk1 at Vallelunga .................. I have got to persuade my hand to ignore the paddles for the down shift and use the ruddy gear lever!!! scared

I think I have you email address somewhere, I'll send you a copy of my ini file tommorrow (if I remember)
Back your current one up and try it - you might want to tinker with the button configs but they're straightforward enough.
In the mean time there's an option you need to change to enable the G25 properly, I think that controls the gear selector. Smiley
Even if it's working the clutch simulates a race clutch so is nearly digital, but with the pedal fully down the car should just sit there while you rev.
