Moderator's Report

Lap 1 was clean & no incidents reported but the following were investigated because they resulted in Resets.

Server replay time: 0h03m18s

Vos loses it on the entry to the last braking zone of the lap & spins across the track, taking out David Rainier - Racing Incident

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h06m35s

Phil edges ahead of Fran. Fran brakes a little too late for the corner & taps Phils left rear. Phil is unscathed but Fran bounces off the fence & ends upside down. Geoff is following & unfortunate to hit Fran who is doing a pancake impression in the middle of the race. Geoff shows you don't need spring board to go diving.
Rear end shunt penalty.
Fran takes a reset & eventually pits for his stop & go about 4 laps later. The guideline is to take your SnG at the earliest opportunity - moderators will reasonaly check the next couple of laps. If you take a delayed stop & go please file a eport explaining why.
Fran also gives an excellent demonstration of how not to take a pit stop, taking too much speed on the entry & crashing through the back of his garage. Under the circumstances any time penalty for an incirrect pits stop would seem unfair.

Moderator's Report

The red zone for Enna Lap 1 - which was incident free. There was, however, a major incident early on Lap 2. There were no incidents reports but it did have a very significant bearing on the shape of the race. Arf & Cookie had a side by side as Cookie lined up a pass for first place. Arf did squeeze Cookie who was approaching very quickly. Whilst Arf followed a normal line such is the draft with the F2 Mod it is sometimes better to allow an overtaking driver room & keep your car in one piece. If things had been different Cookie & Arf may have finished on the podium.
Separately, it appears that Natan slowed in response to the incident ahead & Goran ran into him.
This report is published for advice only.

Phil the extra RPM could also have been due to better corner exit speed resulting from my set up , Just like Monza were the exit from Parabolica and Lesmo 2 are fundemental to a fast lap , the same here , one corner in particular (the next to last ?  ) getting that right had an amazing effect on overall lap times , the temptation is to go in to fast and deep . I dont think I ever did nail it throughout the whole race though I may have been getting close once or twice , at least whith the set up that works for me . One thing for sure , you dont want a car that understeers here , but I suppose we all drive differently and set the car to suit individual taste  Smiley

aaargh   Undecided   I just had a look to the F2 standings  just before this race : Roguk was not here tonight, Francesco did not finish and Phil had 52 points less so even with his win, I shoud stay 1st !
so again the Ferrari or the BT14 for the next race Sad
Yes it looks like you'll be handicapped again David Sad.  To be honest I don't think this system works very well with these cars.  The 3 slow cars are just too slow.  Well the Cooper isn't too bad, it was the winning car in both Lights and Heavys at Montjuic.  Probably worth thinking about a change for next season.  Maybe don't have to take BT14 until leader is 60 points clear of the rest??

After the 2 first races with Brabham BT23 (where I finished 6° and 1°) I was 1st at the championship ,then I had to race 4 times with the slow Dino Ferrari (I finished 3°, 3°, 3°  and 8°) and one race with the Cooper (was 4°) ...so now I will race for the 6th times with an underdog (is it the correct English word ?) !
and next race is Hockenheim  Cheesy I think I will use the BT14 just for fun on the German track !

with this system, Phil you should easily become the first UKGPL champion with mod F2 !
because if I remove the 2 worst results, the right standing is :
Rainier 242-49 = 193
Phil 219-0 = 219
Francesco 193-46 = 147
Bernie 192-19 =173
Dave 188-19 = 169
RogUK 176-0 = 176

As it stands the results are pretty close IMO , wouldn't go so far as to predict a winner just yet   Roll Eyes

Yes I am definitely in the best position.  Tuesdays and Fridays are not the best race nights for me.  Tuesdays I take son No 2 to Judo and on Fridays I take son No 1 to his Ski club (artificial ski slope) so I am quite likely to miss a few rounds.  Missing two F2 rounds because of my taxi duties has played into my hands this season.

Don't take the BT14 it won't be fun Wink, take the Ferrari.  I'm second so I'll take the Ferrari too, then you will have someone to race against (albeit at the back LOL).  Let's see if Bernie can can mount a challenge for the title Tongue

Judging from my scrap with Evil, Ferrari can easily keep up with the Cooper due to slipstream, so you can take a Cooper and still have a good fight. And I'm not for for Hockenheim, maybe not there, but at Enna I believe the Cooper in turn has a chance to keep up and challenge the fast cars, though once in front it would probably become a sitting duck, lol.
