Moderator's Report

No reported incidents - nice clean one then? Er... not quite.

Server replay time: 0h00m56s

Badblood gets a run up Phillipe's inside but misjudges the gap and the braking distance and hits the unfortunate Frenchman. Carnage ensues. Rog is flipped. Adam does well to stop - Billy doesn't, Nigel has a bump and just about the whole field has an adventurous T1.

Massive misjudgement from me and humble apologies to you all but that Is why I say careful at T1!

Server replay time: 0h01m25s

Gio gets a much better exit from Chapel than John who is very cautious but this is Lap 1 and Giovani should have bided his time. Mistake pure and simple but the punishment is heavy.

It is a real pity but Giovani was the pick of the bunch here and won it fair and square on the road. Shame that the penalty takes away his gold.

  • Giovani (g giovani)penalty — Blatant Rear End Shunt - 2 places plus 1 for Red Zone — 3 places lost

Not joining the grid is an odd one - did you click the green box before the 30 second countdown had elapsed?

I could have missed that. I was trying to get a traditional shaped steering wheel by re-applying the last car set patch.

BTW Drivers that don't have little flags against their names in the results table should fill out the nationality part of their profile.

I’ve been practicing and practicing for this race and I felt like I was getting nowhere. I didn’t expect to be competitive at all here, and was hoping to be midfield pack. So to be 3rd on the grid was a huge surprise, it was a PB for me and I could not expect a better time. Great time again Giovani.

My race started OK, I got away quite well and held station, I was careful into turn 1 and then all hell broke loose in front of me. I managed to zip zag though the wreckage and found myself first. I didn’t have a huge lead and I watch myself get hauled in from Giovani, Johnny and Rob. It was fairly inevitable but I was happy to be leading. We all had a nice 4 way battle going for a couple of laps, some nice tight racing but it didn’t last, as I slid a little and was tapped from Rob.

After my little solo spin, I was behind my teammate Rog, I am very thankful to Rog for moving over for me. You where very quick and I don’t think I would have been able to pass you without your help. I had about 10 laps to reel back Rob who was about 7 seconds ahead. I finally managed it with 2 laps to go, and we had a little dice for 3rd.  Rob got very out of shape out of one of the turns, and gave me a great run at him, I pulled out to overtake and we were side by side going into the last left hander on the track. I thought Rob knew I was there, but I was obviously in his blind spot and he turned in and we both collided. After my second spin it was just a matter of finishing the last lap.

I had a nightmare in qualifying- gpl kept crashing to desktop when I went into the car settings or options. I also got stuck with a square steering wheel that I tried to get rid of but had to persevere with as I had no other car set up. I qualified 2nd a good distance from pole but got a good start in the race leading into the first turn- somewhere on the lap I was tagged from behind and spun out but fortunately there was no damage so I recovered into fourth or fifth. I had a good few laps trying to pass Rob and ran wide letting Giovanni through. I slowly made progress to the cars battling in front and eventually caught Al who I followed for a couple of laps and sneaked through. Not sure where Giovanni was he was in front and now he was behind? He caught me twice and outbraked or ran wide and I escaped temporarily as he was much quicker and when he did finally pass me I had no answer to his pace. Enjoyable race and well done to Giovanni, also great racing by Rob and Al. I was scared I might miss the race with more pc gremlins.. offline is fine but online always gives me grief ...grrr

Hi all
Well after all that practice and more practice I returned from UK on Sunday ready to go, only to be told by the better half that internet had been off for 2 days and wouldn't be back until wednesday!!! Well its Thursday and just got it back on. Love France but telephone and broadband leave a lot to be desired. Moan over, missed the race but c'est la vie. Well done to everyone sounds like the race after the first few corners was really good and I do hope Phillippe doesn't drop out as I think Novice does mean mistakes will be made. Which version of Zeltweg is the next race? Perhaps a link to each circuit download would be helpful to us newbies!!

You can get squared away with a nice round wheel, by reading Al's post on the previous page.  You could instead go for the realistic ride height patch, which has the fix included.  Or else why not simply use the lite carset, ready and waiting, which was actually designed especially for online use!  It has wheels which remain round at all times - even when detached! Thanks maddog I'll try a fix for the next round. On another note it seems that Wetlegz is an anagram for Zeltweg.... just thought I'd share that little nugget. Cheesy

We missed you Boggy. Zeltweg 71 which is here: Zeltweg

The track is listed in the announcements page with links as well.

Good track but careful at T1 and round the Ostkurve. Easy to lose it there.

Come to think of it, it might not be called the Ostkurve. As you go into the long right hander at the end of the straight (Bosch) as long as you take enough speed off, that is easy. If you don't you will be in the wall on the left. After that the long left hander has about fifteen apexes and it is hard to take without either compromising speed or losing it - it is a tricky balance. Ends at Schikane...
