WELCOME to the UKGPL S23 Autumn Break first CanAm Fun Race Jops Siffert A great fantasy track with some very technical sections and a good mix of fast and slow corners. Everybody is welcome! We will do this Race as a test for the import of the new CanAm mod. You will have a free car choice, but we ask you to take a car that is not yet used by the allready joined drivers. We need a grid of all available CanAm cars to fill the database!Unlimited Shift+r with a stop and go is allowed. Please restrict your chat to a minimum! The race will start with a pace lap, rolling to the last lefthander kink "Kessel", where you can put the hammer down... What a dreadful idea... Lets take the powerful and twitchy can-ams and race them on amn unfamiliar, technical and unforgiving track.... we all love repeated crashing.....

Got home at 9:25... CA mod wouldn't run - aggghghhhhh. Had to re-install it.
Hope you enjoyed yourselves.
How about running something open that everyone knows next time - monza, silverstone or kyalami come to mind.

I have to confess that I am struggling to get a "feel" for these monsters and so far most of my attempts at setup improvement have been dubious I took the Lola 222 last night, with no idea if it is a good car, a slow car or just OK?? The Shadows at the front of the field seemed very quick, but was that driver or chassis?

As I wanted to have all cars on the grid, I waited a little to join, but my prepared cars were allready taken... So I choose the McL-F to complete the grid. I had to do a provisional setup to make a good quali time, but with the race fuel the car was difficult to handle. How about Spa at friday? With a standing start!

The Shadows at the front of the field seemed very quick, but was that driver or chassis? I'd say the Lola T222's & Shadows were about the same Clive - both in that middle group of cars. I only chose the Shadow because of the colour - the big Mclaren certainly has more power though whether that was a help or a hindrance at a twisty track like Jops I couldn't say... Generally speaking the cars do seem a lot closer than the GT's though. Hope my rolling start was OK. BTW on the whole rolling vs standing start debate, I quite like doing both types - I would have thought we have enough mods/divisions to accommodate both?

I will be away but I would suggest a VERY loose grid or rolling through Eau Rouge. Definitely not on PRO settings though

After some comparative testing, I might have to correct my earlier statement. The Lola seems to be around 0.5 - 0.75 secs a lap slower than the Shadow round most circuits I tried

from my breif outings the shadow is very good in a staight line but all in all the Mc F and the Lola 260 are the best two with nothing between them.

The Lola 222 is far to be the quickest CanAm car but it is very easy and funny to drive ! I really enjoy it at Jops Siffert, too bad my engine blowed !

Keep in mind chaps, these are mostly big, torquy V8's. Revving the bejeezus out of them is not really required. Most run out of horsepower long before redline so shifting 500revs or more before the red is no disadvantage....Gear them well, and you should never blow an engine.
