All members welcome.

Grid/server capacity: 28

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (40 laps)

Track: Crystal Palace GP Circuit Download this

Cars allowed: Ford Mustang, Lotus Cortina, Ford Falcon from here The Real GTL mod 1.0:
http://downloads.gamers-crib.com/Sim%20Racing/GTL/Mods/RealMod/RealMod10.exe or here http://www.gamefront.com/files/23646884/RealMod10.exe

and update (to ver 1.3): http://downloads.gamers-crib.com/Sim%20Racing/GTL/Mods/RealMod/RealMod13update.exe or here http://www.gamefront.com/files/23646914/RealMod13update.exe

It's best if you create a standalone GTL install (copy your GTL to a temp folder, rename it e.g. REAL GTL, then copy back to your usual directory. Path the install to the new REAL GTL you have just created).  Install ver 1.0 first then update with the ver 1.3 install. Run the sim and purchase the cars.
We will not be able to use any skin packs with this mod.

Time of Day Setting: 15:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk BSCC
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.
(4) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page

uuuhhh - have to miss this one. Can't get my GTL install to work  Huh

Don't know what happened -P&G is working fine.

Have fun.

edit:

Finally I got in - but definitely not my favourite track. Some nice laps with Bill at the back of the pack.
Then I slided out behind the pit lane, tried to go back on track, got a stop&go penalty and left Sad

CU next time

Late decision to race, probably shouldn't have bothered. Sure I had the correct version of the track but had a mismatch, so redownloaded, which took ages tonight  Huh, still had mismatch!!!!!  Huh

Only a short time to do qually so bunged in an old setup I had which turned out to be too understeery. Tried a couple of changes for the race but not much better. Ran mostly alone in 5th place until about half-distance then net connection dropped out.  Angry Angry Angry

Congrats to podium.  clap

Sorry you had a disco Geoffers. That's our first in 3 weeks.

Matt, re: the unlock everything crack. I think once in place you have to create a new profile?

Thanks Tony for the track/cars combo, very enjoyable; things went much better than expected – wife’s birthday (Sweet Sixteen still  Wink).  Had a long day out at Taunton, missed siesta and did not feel like racing - knackered.  wheelchair Luckily I knew track and car so I decided to give it a go.  rockon

Made good start, out dragging a couple of Tinas, spent a few laps in 5th until overcooked it at the first right hander allowing Matt and Tony through.  oops Got it together to hold off Kurt, we had a few laps racing, with him getting level exiting some corners but the torque of the Falcon winning once I was able to put the hammer down.   Bad luck with the stop and go Kurt, I had some bad moments with too much power too soon but managed to avoid the barriers and scenery.

After Kurt dropped out, had a shock, first time able to study Xd and calculate fuel consumption to end of race  –  3.8 laps short  eek even after allowing for being lapped a couple of times.  Short shifted and took a higher gear into a couple of corners – finished race with 0.4 laps of fuel left.  sweatdrop thumbup1

Yeh, nothing to do with the server though, it was the internet connection at my end that went.  Roll Eyes

Bill, it was Geoffers and I that were battling to get passed you and thoroughly enjoyable it was to. Really, really close racing and hardly a paint scuff to be seen.

I think the only bit of action I had was when Matt closed on me and passed by. Otherwise quite a quiet night, but pleased not to suffer a disco as I had had some earlier that evening. I did re-boot my router so that may have helped.

A very exhausting race for me. After taking a comfortable pole, I forgot which button is my clutch, so I pressed the wrong one and the car stalled just before the green lights. This forced the drivers behind to wait for me to get going again and so I was now in 4th behind Ivan, quicksilver and goldtop, whose Mustang was fast on the straights and slower in the corners. He took good advantage of his straightline speed to take over the lead and I managed to follow him as he made way through the two cortinas.

It became obvious that unless he makes a mistake, I was not going to make a pass that would stick, but all this turned irrelevant as I braked too late for the corner at the end of the back straight, hit the wall and the car stalled again. I had lost about 16 seconds to the leader by the time I completed that lap, but there were plenty of laps left to try and do something about it. I drove as hard as I could, hands hurting and all, and by the time I caught and passed Stanchev and quicksilver, goldtop was just under 9 seconds ahead. I thought "not bad, you've almost halved the gap in less than 20 laps", so I kept pushing, but obviously goldtop increased his speed as well and for a couple of laps I could only erase a few tenths each lap, which wasn't going to be enough.

Suddenly the gap began to drop much rapidly, by about a second a lap or so, and at the same time the handling of my Cortina improved as the rear tyres wore out, because until then I was suffering from some understeer. With my new found balance, I could throw the car in much easier and carry speed on corner entry, and with the help of some backmarkers I managed to reel in and glue myself to the Mustang's rear, but that's as far as I could go.

No matter what I tried, there was just no way to pass that thing. Even when I had better exits and got alongside, I was being blown away on the straights. Goldtop just had to avoid going off and the race was his. Even so, it was an epic battle, including some bumps here and there, but all fairly innocent. I gave it my all right in the end to try and accelerate quicker off the last corner, but I knew it was impossible, so congrats to goldtop for the win, and Ivan for 3rd!

Forgot to sort out lobby patch for this series which meant I joined late and spent quali sorting my race setup. Was happy with 3rd on grid as I was sure I could outdrag the tinas into T1, but when H stalled in front of me my plans were scuppered. Was worried that I'd chosen the wrong car at this point, but managed to quickly close down Ivan and QS as they were battling it out with each other for the lead.

Had some close attention from a recovering H towards the end  Wink  but was able to keep it neat and use the strengths of the stang to take the win.

Nice racing  Cool
