(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see
cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules especially the

Season finale!!!!!!!!

After testing different years of different cars, how I drove made more difference than the car
My best time was in the Capri, but the others are close enough that Aliens will probably
find the RSR (the slowest for me) quickest for them.

WOuld like to avoid another discussion about having half the tyre on the track
and half of the outside wheel up the inside kerb, etc etc ad nauseum. So please keep two wheels
on the track surface, painted or not. If the little orange cone disappears inside of the 5th to last
then I will trawl through the replay to see who hit it. If it was two cars abreast or someone
getting a bit wild on one lap no worries, if someone is regularly driving completely up the inside
of the kerbs, and there are several places you could, then a plague of locusts followed by
boils and sores will be visited upon thee. Possibly you will simply be removed from the results
as that is less painfull. Not much point in asking for moderation as the last one I saw took 6 months
to get to trial.  Shocked And if anything does get changed it would be best if we do it before the results are
posted. Sorry if it sounds a bit draconian, but it's just a question of everyone following the same simple rules
as we usually do.

hmm, i think you will find the RSR is the slowest of those 3 cars selected but i will still be in one  Smiley As much as i am itching to also have a blast in the other two cars, i still havent driven the new 3.0 RSR in anger either.

I think the RSR will be a dark sheep. I ran the 2.8 originally as a match, but then went a lot faster
in the Capri, so made it the 3.0. (also the tyre wear seemed a lot better thab the other two)
My experience is that some people can get the RSR round a track more quickly than me compared to
the difference in the other cars. with a good porka driver you can get round the corners wayy faster
than the other two that understeer horribly, The Capri is particularly horrible under braking
I was fastest but most variable in it. The BMW is similar but not quite as horrible
the porka even in my hands was easily the most stable which I found surprising.
I managed a low 2:12 in Capri, 13's in the BMW (with less practice) and 14's in the Porka
(with a "safe" setup)
I was not impressed by the capri in PG3 it is even more horrible than the GTL one which
just understeers round like mad, this version either locks it's fronts or locks it's fronts and then
swaps ends with engine braking.  Undecided

Usually in the past when I have added a "slower" porka, someone does amazing things in it
A bit like the Arbarth in the hands of Italians.

VDA chaps are engaged in the VDA champ on that date, so will not be able to race with you. Howerver I wrote something about the BMW vs Capris in the other thread, and I don't know if Matt noticed it. Which BMW did you try Matt? It was the Schnitzer?

Had not seen that one, but I remember you saying the BMW was a bit faster. I may do some more
testing as originally I had limited the BMW to the 74 model, or even the 12v one, but I seemed
a lot faster in the Capri so left it as any 24v. If someone want to post some alien times
the car choice can be altered slightly if required.

These are my setup for quali/race in the Capri 3100 for the LimeRock mountain race of ROTW P&G champ 2012 => http://vda.forumfree.it/?act=Attach&type=post&id=512613433

Other 2 setup for the Capri 3100, used in the 2011 race of the ROTW champ at Jerez 88 (P&G physics were just slightly different... it was a v2.5 beta) => http://vda.forumfree.it/?act=Attach&type=post&id=519393084

These are my setup for the BMW 24v (Schnitzer) at Hockenheim => http://vda.forumfree.it/?act=Attach&type=post&id=517956864

Setup for the Porsche 3.0 I'm using at Anderstorp on GC public server => http://vda.forumfree.it/?act=Attach&type=post&id=517010815

Now, I can confirm that the Capri are a bit understeering in cornering, and you'll need to go into the corner at the right speed to avoid that drawback. Another important thing is to adjust the brake bias and duct, cause if you push too hard on the brake pedals, brake temperature will go up very easily! If you have a lot of troubles with locked tyres when braking, could be worth to adjust the brake pedal sensibility to a value in a range of 25%-35%, and you will be helped to lock the brake less. Take a look at the xd when you're in a hard braking, and take a look to the temperatures, especially with BMW and Capris. You won't be surprized if they go well over the 700° celsius... that is too much. Braking is the most difficult thing to do with capris and BMW, so you need to understand which is the right pressure when pushing on the pedal, to avoid the overheating of disk brakes. Sometimes it happens to me that I have to release the pedal for a bit, and then pushing it again during the same braking. You need some training on this aspect I guess.

We will race again in Mont-Tremblant, and we will miss this race and that of Silverstone. I'm waiting for Gianluca's setup for the pack of Silverstone 88 cars, cause as you know, I'm not really a fan of the american tanks, and I have no setups for them Sad. I just tried for 20 mins the Mustang BSCC Gr.2 at silverstone on your server with full tank, and I was on the 45.0 at the moment, with the chance to go down a bit. Thrustmaster isn't a big help in driving these cars with 270° of rotation, so I expect John to be a lot faster in it.

I do the best I can Mark Smiley

I forgot to mention an obvious thing. remember to adjust the steer lock, cause most of these setup are meant for a 708° degrees of rotation with the G25. That means if you're with 900°, you have to increase the steer lock (usually to the max value), at the opposite, remember to decrease it a bit. With 708° rotation I usually drive in a range from 25 to 27 degrees of steer lock ingame.

Same thing is needed for the brake bias and duct, cause we all have different braking style.

Got some laps in here just to test the waters. There are some great corners here and despite the modern looking environment, it's great fun in these classics.

2:10 pb for me so far in the glorious RSR, with 10laps fuel, offline praccy.

Anyone else got some times for comparison?

Not driven these cars much before now and so far the only one of the three I like is the RSR. Had a couple of laps in each with race fuel and meds just to test the water....

RSR 2:13
Shnitzer 2:10
Capri 2:08

Not a fan of Albert Pk tbh...too many hard braking zones for me, but I'd probably enjoy the cars on a more flowy track.

Noting Manteos' comments about the BMW, and more testing myself, I have limited the BMW to the '74 model only
The Capri is still 2 tenths faster for me, but the '75 24v Beemer is just that bit too fast in my hands at least
I am getting high 12's in Capri and 24v '74 Beemer, and a second or so slower in the Porka. All with 40 mins fuel
How MJ gets into the 10's in it is beyond me.

Key to the Capri and Beemer seems to be as Manteos says - the brakes, I reduced brake pressure to 88% and things were
much easier.

Good move Matt Wink I forgot to mention the chance to reduce even the brake pressure in my previous post. It's really important what you said, and is another good solution to apply for a good braking. Usually when I experience a lot of wheels blocking during the braking, I just prefere to lower the the brake pedal sensibility (as I said in my previous post), and that makes almost the same effect of lower the brakes pressure. They're both correct solutions for this kind of issue.

I will try to make some laps tomorrow (at most on Monday) with all these cars in Melbourne, and then I will able to tell you if I was wrong. What I said before are only assumptions based on my past experience, but I could be surely wrong, considering I never tested these cars in a circuit that looks like Melbourne. We will see Smiley

Times are good. GTs times were similar to the relative times I was getting, but with a bit of
setup I found the 24v '74 was easier to drive on the limit than the Capri which was for me at least
a bit more "wayward" and my times were very close with Capri and 74Beemer. The 75 was nearly a second
faster for me.

I do hope you gentlemen are all keeping two wheels on the track as requested? I can go a couple of seconds
faster if I just drive inside the kerbs with gay abandon  Roll Eyes
