Happy with my 3rd place qually time & 3rd place finish. Ronnie too fast & Gareth was off my radar completely!. Like Gareth I'm glad its done with. Frankly I think everyone who finished should congratulate themselves. By the way check out Johnny's impressive qually pole time in Novices Roll Eyes.
Monza - Many a dream has ended in the Parabolica gravel trap, or a blown engine. Remember that.

The handicap hasn't really worked that well. In retrospect, I think that the handicap should have applied from Race 2 (not Race 4) and that way you might have had a few changes in the lead - you could then abandon handicapping with two or three races to go.

i think the number of wins as a secondary deciding factor is traditional across most mostor sport, the issue here is the handicap is too much of a handicap at some tracks, there is no victory in beating someone around monza who's in a BT7, especially when theres a championship riding on it.

Just trying to sow some seeds of doubt with the maths earlier  Wink I need all the help I can get with the BT7/Cooper at Monza  :'(

My thoughts on this are quite simple. The handicapping rules were outlined to everyone at the start of the championship. I know that the rules also state "handicapping may be suspended on a race by race basis if the circumstances warrant it", but I say stick as we are Paul.

With the typical full grid for the final race, achieving that podium finish to hang onto the championship lead will be a very tall order.  Particularly with Clutch, Gareth, Dave, Norm et al in faster machinery. Note subject to any moderation my position may be even worse.

But I am happy to race in the BT7/Cooper for Monza. Why? Because failing in a BT7/Cooper or a Lotus would be a disappointing and frustrating end to a hard fought season. But at least in a BT7/Cooper it will be a lot of fun trying.

As for number of wins, lets hope it does not come to that.

Actually I've always been confused about that. On the UKGPL rules page under 'Scoring' (https://www.ukgpl.com/index.php/rules/scoring) it states that unless otherwise stated we use the Srou classification in the event of a tie & that goes like this:

In the event of a tie on points, the following criteria will be applied in order:

Number of events entered within the championship
    Best finish in class
    Best finish overall
    Best qualifying position in class
    Best qualifying position overall
Most number of wins in class, or 2nd places if tied on wins, and so on down to 6th place.
Most number of wins overall, or 2nd places if tied on wins, and so on down to 6th place.
Most number of class poles in class, or 2nd place qualifying if tied on poles, and so on down to 6th place.
Most number of class poles overall, or 2nd place qualifying if tied on poles, and so on down to 6th place.

If none of the above resolve the tie then it will remain.

Personally I prefer the number of wins/2nds/3rds, etc countback as used in most real life racing series, but I've always wondered which system we would actually use in the event of a tie?

it might be an idea to have spa, monza etc at the start of the season before the handicap is applied.

I suspect that would defeat the object of the handicapping of the faster drivers at faster tracks.

I have thought about this fairly hard and I would like to dispense with the handicap for Monza. Doesn't mean you can't take the Cooper though....

Personally i'm a bit baffled as i leave the Maths and Team Strategy to my Team mate, NHance.

I thought Ronnie had it all done and dusted but it doesn't appear to be the case??

I'd like to see Monza being a free for all with no handicapping personally, but respect the Mods decision.

I have no clue what i have to do to win the Championship, so will just keep it on the island stuff and will see where i end up.  Wink

You can't win Clutch but because Gareth has no points to drop he can score 50 points. Ronnie must drop a score so can score a maximum of 29. He has to drop 21 points. If he finishes second he will get 22 points and third will give 15 points and fourth 11 points and so on.
