Tried to join but I was a bit late. But couldn't join correctly. Just kept flashing up 'loading xyz' and when I did manage to get on track, no sound. Some incompatibility somewhere... Wrong version of GTL perhaps. Had a little go offline and was lapping around 2:10 so pretty slow but felt like there was lots to come with practice.

Ah well. Hope you enjoyed it.

Paul, that happens if you don't have someone's car loaded on to your PC. To narrow it down we were only running the Boss 302's, Porsche 911's and VW's. There is only one "proper" version of GTL and that's V1.1 and you have that.

Thanks Tony - still learning. Hope to get out there sometime soon.

We live in hope

Nice race with plenty of action early one involving Kurt and Roger. After Roger disapeared up the road I managed to keep up with Kurt but received a stop/go for cuts so had to pit for the penalty. This gave Kurt a 30sec lead which I had no chance of getting back. Those fast Boss boys (and John) looked to be having a fine old scrap up front.
Now there's only three to go but GT's lead looks to good to do anything about but 2nd is certainly not a comfy place to be.

It was a shame to lose you as you were really showing some great pace. Unfortunately some of your chicane cornering must have been a little "enthusiastic".

I'll post a guide to cuts and stop and go's and post the link here for you.

Have to say that the Scirocco is my favorite car in GTL and especially on this track much fun to drive.
Less mistakes than usual  Roll Eyes and a nice fight in the opening stages with Roger and Tony.
After Roger left I had a nice battle with Tony, was on my way to my best lap when he suddenly
slowed down and I nearly lost my car in the Parabolica while passing him. Sorry for pushing you
away  Roll Eyes . So I had my very best lap with 2:09.213 in lap 13. After that I lost concentration and
made one or two mistakes, decided to bring it home and slowed down a little bit. Good decision because
I ran out of fuel during my last lap so I was no longer able trying to lap Bill.

Thanks for organizing all these events and thanks for the scheduled races for season 14 - great work Tony!

CU next week.

A much more enjoyable race than of late.  Been experimenting with the "Speed Sens. Steering" setting to try and counter car wander about the straight ahead.  Always been set at 10% since I started driving Sims, so increased it in steps last week to 50% but found that the steering input on the Monza banking was too great for me to catch spins.  Experimented with Scirocco and settled at 25% for race: think that's about right for me. As the rear tyres wore (my setup method is to stiffen the rear end to improve turn-in) I suddenly had the back end let go on one of the curves under full throttle.  Caught it broadside and held it into the kitty litter.  After that had to use partial throttle on that curve and managed to hold all the breakaways after that.  What settings, if any, are you folks using?

As usual human competition encouraged me to set new PB in practice - factions of second behind Kurt.  After that lost the approach to chicanes and couldn't get near PB.  In race over compensated and ran wide a few times before I struck the right line.  Put in a series of 2;14s  wheelchair before I outbraked myself and got a cut track warning, with a second shortly after I had to drive more conservatively to the end.

Enjoyable night's racing, thanks for organisation Tony nice track.  rockon

Hi Bill, Roguk,

For what Its worth Bill, I settled with 10% sensitive steering in the end too. But I guess it is depended of what controller you are using. I have an Logitec Wingman Formula which is nearly as old as the cars we are driving in the game, with newer wheels it could be different. Although I think if you use a wheel as a controller you should be in the 0 – 30 % range. You did try 50% and wasn't working, so I guess you are in the ballpark now.
Ohh, and look at what steering lock you are using. With my wheel I run between 9 and 12 degrees lock. Standard settings are way too sensitive for me.

@Roguk, the massive oversteer in the 911 was what put me off in GTL 5 years ago, until I recently reloaded the DVD and started to mess more with the setup. However, even with deeper setup tweaks it is prone to understeer until you start using lift-off oversteer on corner entry, which is simply a skill you should practice. (I haven't got it figured out completely but I am enjoying the 911’s more now) I am not the best at setups but if you want i can send you a setup for the 911 to get you going. Also did you already take a look at your steering lock?

I'll have a root around and see if I can find a setup too.

One tip from me would be to blip the throttle on downshifts it helps to stableise the car under breaking and helps to kill some of the lockup too

True. In fact i blip the throttle at almost all of my downshifts. I only use it without blipping the throttle when i run in too hot into a corner. (quite often actualy..)

@ Roguk. I will e-mail you my set tonight and you have a look at what has been changed. Then try to understand what effect these separate tweaks do to the handling of your car. In the end it is just about trial and error and you will get better at it.
Also have a look at this site and the web for setup guides, which will give you a good direction in where to start with your own setups. I know Legzy did a nice write up for PnG but I can’t  find it right now.

Thanks for that info.

Have a Logitech G25 set to 420 deg lock to lock - crossing hands and using thumbs can keep hands on wheel lock to lock.  Car set to about 25 deg lock, and Speed Sensitive Steering now at 25 %. Seems comfortable with REAL Minis and Abarth.

I usually blip throttle on down shifts and lift momentarily on up shifts - except for low powered cars eg Minis.  Also on some old cars you need to brake to lower speeds before down shifting or you can lock up rear end on down shifts from high speed to sharp slow bend.

Alrightythen, these settings are dependend of the rotation (degrees) of your wheel ofcourse. But if it is set to sensitive it will become harder to give proper steering inputs.

The set i send you was my set for 2.8 RSR at Silverstone, but as a base it is a good starting point. Good luck.
