This is a track I tried to use a couple of times when I was going to be running an "Iron Curtain" series
and I also wanted to run an event using the Panty, which is seriously good fun in PG3  Grin
The Panty Modena is the quickest, the other versions may be an easier to drive option.

The other cars are for me slightly slower, but are a reasonably close option for those that
want an alternative. If anyone want to post some times, that would be great.
If any car in alien hands is way quicker than my testing I can alter the list if required.

I think that it would be a good idea to adopt one or two test tracks, that we already know, to try out all of the cars that need looking at.  So that we understand the relative performance of each.

i agree, maybe a set of 'class' races at a certain well known track. ie work our way up through the classes of cars to see what are similar and what arent. TC65 race, GT65, Grp2, Grp4 etc.  You could even limit numbers of each car available so that everyone takes a different car rather than have 10 capris v 5 porkers and nowt else, as an example.
Maybe Donington for twisty & cambered, then Barcelona for good mix of long straight and fast curves  Smiley
I was surprised how many 'old' cars could power right past the newer machinery on the barcelona main straight last night and still battle relatively well in the corners.

Good plan. I had started with Portimao as a good allrounder, but I also wanted to see how Beranovac
worked on line, as I would like to use it in the future.
Unfortunately I have very limited time to give to this stuff, so sometimes it's whatever I can come
up with in the time available. When I ask for serious track car combo suggestions I am not being polite
I mean it. I had to create the new series and this event while at work for e.g
"Yes boss I am really working, honest"

Portimao is a great choice, lovely track and would  be good fun in these classics  Cool

No probs with your cunning track selections but for testing purposes its better to have a track that most know, so that they can concentrate on getting the car right and driving it properly rather than learning a new track as well. A familiar track is a good bench mark.

Am sure a few of us can help with car/track testing if you need some. I expect there is a few of us who try say all 3 cars at an upcoming event, though i tend to always pick my favourite classic car of the available selection, whether its quickest or not.

Of course, if we wait a while, GC will have done several test races of their own and defined groups of similar competitive cars  Wink

 laugh

I need all the info I can get. Creating events is easy, trying to come up with tracks that work well
with a selection of cars is hard work if you have to start from scratch every time.
Beranovac has a good mix of corners, and is pretty easy to learn (IMHO) and I like it  Tongue
so I would like to run it. It's a bit like Jops Siffert in style, only probably easier.
There has to be some perks that go with this job, so running fave tracks on occasion is
a perk I'll take advantage of.   Roll Eyes

I can't use the old matched cars examples in PG2 as in 3 some are different. So I need to get
a feel for what cars work with what, hence the larger choice of cars. The L88 Hardtop for
example is a pig to drive in my hands, with someone who can tame it, it may well be the fastest
car of this group.

We'll get there.  Cheesy

Had a quick blast here and it's a great track for these cars although it does get a bit tight in places, which could get exciting  Shocked Haven't tried all the cars yet, but the IROC seems a bit off pace compared with the Panteras and the Daytona  Undecided

As MJ says, I'm sure there would be a few of us willing to help out testing track/car combinations. Personally I find it almost as enjoyable as racing, so start PMing your ideas around Matt and we'll do what we can.

My testing times below:
(All best times with 40 mins race fuel, and no more than 10 laps in each, some were just a couple of laps to see if they were in the same league.)

Vette Grand Sport  1:58.6
RSR 3.0                1:59.2

Pantera Modena     2:01.3
Daytona               2:01.8
IROC                    2:01.9
L88 Hardtop          2:02.1

Pantera Boss         2:05.6 (2:01,5 with setups and practice)
RSR 2.5                2:07.0
Cobra Coupe         2:09.0

RSR 2.8 might have been in the target range of mid 2:01 as would several others
Any times from other people for comparison would be super brill  Cool

1: I could do with some comparison times at a fast and slow track of your choice for a mix of British and American
cars. Elan/ELite/Tina/MIni/Alfa etc etc in one group then some Yank tanks in another group, we have
some idea from PG2 events, but as you know some of the variants are quite different in PG3 and I have
no experience with them. Tony has already PM'd me some British roller skates comparisons which will be put into use
somewhere...

2: Is there a track where a 906 variant would match a Panty and/or GT40 variant?

3: Tonight's Aussie race should provide some much needed real world times that I can use, hopefully
not everyone will take a Capri.

4:If anyone wants to run as many cars as they can at Portimao that would be a huge help, as that is
a "mid range" track to me, so test data from there would be great.

PLease PM me any times, so as not to be a spoiler for possible future events,
Ta
Matt.

I just tried these cars on their default setups and had the following result in TT mode:-

Pantera BOSS   2:03.372
Daytona Coupe  2:00.659
IROC     2:05.257
L88 Hard Top   2:00.728

I'm just not a Porsche driver by the look of it but I do seem to remember that the default setups for the IROC were pants in v2.

That tightening left hander is going to cause some grief.   Roll Eyes  And we have a mix of cars with and without brakes so that will cause a few shunts as well.  You have to throw the anchor out very early in the Daytona and L88 but then again, that may be down to the default setups.

Quick question. Is the L88 Hardtop the C3 one?

I only found one sort.   Huh

What does the other one look like?

EDIT  Just checked my replay and I was using the C3 L88 Hardtop.  The other hardtop doesn't say L88.
