I hope this was the last ever UKGPL race at Monza, at least for a long long long time. I can not think of anyting more boring than Monza. But this time "luckily" it was a short one. Raoni and Andreas touched, Andreas hit the fence and bounced back on track and I managed to cut him in two in flames of fire and that was the end of things. I hope your car was allready damaged Andreas if not I am sorry.

Looking forward to a season 24 with no Monza, or anything similar, no handicaps and competitive racing.

Göran

PS. I wonder who got the championship, when I left H was in trouble and Tris was not too far behind in the table. Grats to the winner.

You don´t have to be sorry, Team-mate! The car was already "kaputt".  Smiley Normally I have to be sorry for you, but looks like you see it another way.  Wink
So there was no more Lotus in the Race, not good for Colin.  Sad
Grats to the Finishers!

So long
Andreas

I was hoping to salvage just a little pride after a rotten season in 65's and set up the waza for race pace rather than outright quali.

With a small grid, starting from 8th place was not too bad and that got even better as i picked up 2 places on the run down to Curve Grande. The 4/5 cars in front seemed intent on dicing for position even on the first lap so I was easily able to ease up behind them on the approach to Lesmo 1. Again, there were some strange lines through the corner and I backed off through the apex.

I had just nailed the gas for the short straight and night fell suddenly!!! I had a black screen and a repeating sound loop. Eventually I had to crash the computer to kill the noise and restart Windows.

Apologies if my driverless car caused any problems but there was nothing I could do  Undecided  grats to whoever won or finished this race ...waiting to see who comes out top of the table.  Roll Eyes

Well, I have no incidents on my part, so seems like finishing 4th was enough for the title. I was really looking after the engine in this race, after suffering from engine troubles throughout the whole season, but apparently it wasn't enough and a couple of laps into the race, the engine lost power and started smoking. Had I retired right there, I would have lost the championship, but instead I chose to keep going and with Tristan's false start and subsequent troubles (he was lacking pace for some reason), he was out of contention for the victory. Then despite that I was last, everyone ahead except 3 drivers had retired, so I just had to reach the minimum amount of race distance to score points, with Tristan juts one place ahead.

The crucial moments were letting the leaders by without impeding them, as I had to make sure they don't drop behind Tristan and thus not allow him to get more points, but also reaching that 50% race distance because I was getting lapped each 2-3 laps, so I just kept going at a maximum speed of 165-170 km/h, going on the limit in corners. It was a tedious and boring process which seemed to last forever, but the engine held together and made it to the end. There was a bit of misunderstanding at Parabolica near the end where I couldn't let the leaders by immediately, with Axel going off in the sand and Al going to the outside while I was trying to give him the inside, but thankfully there was no incident.

I really don't know what I have to do to make the Honda reach the finish without its engine getting damaged, so it's rather frustrating driving like this.

Firstly congrats to Hristo on taking the title. I was really looking forward to seeing an exciting championship finale unfold so was very disappointed to see first Tris get hit & then H's engine go. A real shame as a straight fight between those two would've been much more interesting. Having qualified with a PB in the Brabham, I dropped virtually to the back at the start because I was daydreaming & missed the flag Roll Eyes. Still even down in 8th or 9th place the Monza slipstream kept me in touch & I managed to avoid numerous crashes that happened right ahead of me - I was surprised to see so many incidents at Monza because we all know it so well (maybe we know it too well Wink )

Axel was driving a great race after leading from the start & by lap 8, with all the retirements, I moved up to 2nd, only 1-2 seconds behind. I then spent the next 20 laps trying to get into that BRM's slipstream but although I would occasionally pull in a few tenths here & there, Axel was driving so smoothly & consistently that I just couldn't quite get that damn tow I needed. Hristo was keeping his smoking Honda well out of the way as we passed every 3 or 4 laps but then we caught him just as we entered Parabolica on lap 28 - H kept tight to the inside but I think both Axel & me got slightly distracted & ran wide. It was enough for me to sneak ahead but with Axel swiftly back on track I didn't fancy my chances of holding on for the last 5 laps in the BT11. It was an exciting last lap where we swapped places a couple of times, then the usual dash for the line after Parabolica where I edged it by a mere 0.083. Commiserations to Cookie - I felt a bit like I picked his pocket with that one shifty

Yesss, a great race!

With a good start I took the lead and for the first 8-9 laps I had a lot of fun fighting with Hristo, Raoni and Tris.
One after another had problems so I had a pretty comfortable lead, my intention was to go in save mode and control the distance to Al.
But Al pushed hard and so I had to give much more to keep a distance of 150-200meters.
Unfortunately I misjudged the Para entry when Hristo was there and I ran wide...
For the last 5 laps Al used all his experience to keep me behind and he succeeded with 0.083 sec on the finish line.

Grats Al you deserved this win!
Grats Hristo for the Championship.

Moderation published.

Thanks to all drivers for my first pro season!
I know you had to be often cautious because of my special driving style...
But I had some of my greatest fights in GPL ever!

CU next season!
