Gradually I reeled in Phil in his Mirage and he made life very difficult for me to make the pass even with the extra power of the 2D, You certainly had that Mirage going well through the turns Phil!! I got alongside after Stavelot and we were side by side for a while. I hope there was no contact Phil, but I noticed that you went off?
No contact Clive, I drove off the track all on my own
. After driving through a couple of corners side-by-side I knew you were along side but I couldn't resist a quick look in the right view as we approached the next right hander. Sure enough you were exactly where I thought you'd be but when I switched to front view I'd missed by braking point slightly. This is when I find these cars tough to control, with a lighter car I can sometimes recover if I brake too late but not with these beasts. I put a wheel on the grass on the exit and that was it. I made a few more similar mistakes and I eventually had to retire after my second shift R with only 1 lap to go.
Thanks for organizing a great series Clive. The Pit Stop principle seems to work well with these cars and somehow it seems more "authentic" than it does with the open wheel classes. But as you have said before we need more data in order to get the Pit Stop times right.
