Moderator's Report

Nothing reported.

Mini doesn't seem to like the handling after his forced reset and resets again at Parabolica. He then takes an SnG.

Drivers are reminded that they must take a Stop n Go for EACH reset

Server replay time: 0h01m10s

Generally clean but Adam is too late braking for Curva Grande and hits Miniblood.

  • Adam Cooperpenalty — Simple Rear End + 1 for Red Zone — 2 places lost

The 10th and last race of the season is at Monza.

This is the fastest GPL original Papy track. No need to say anything more...

As requested by the drivers there will be NO handicapping.

However, the In-Series penalties have to be applied and although we decided to apply them for 5 points or greater, a truly awful race at Monaco means that your Moderator will be unable to qualify and will start last. The shame...

Please check the Season 23 pages for details regarding rules and the Novices Trophy pages in particular.

Qualifying may start before 9pm, if so, Reserve drivers should leave the server when 35 minutes of qualifying remains and only rejoin when 30 minutes of qualifying is left. This is to ensure that Full Time drivers get priority in joining.

Please restrict chat to pit messages if necessary, and this includes the end of the race, until all running drivers have completed the necessary laps.

The Novice Trophy races are run under Int Long rules and all incidents in the Lap 1 red zone will be moderated and reported incidents for the rest of the race, however the moderators reserve the right to review any incident. Drivers can take UNLIMITED Shift-R but MUST take a Stop n Go for each one. The Red Zone is start to the exit of turn 8 (see below).

Please ensure you are aware of the new in-series penalties for this season. Details are here. Drivers incurring a penalty will receive a PM informing them of this."

Please submit incident reports within a week after the race so that the moderators report may be out before the next race.

Stupid game.
Got the dreaded square wheel on the BT11 - after downloading the patch which was supposed to fix it. Angry
Switched to the Lotus - spent quallifying trying to get the gearing. Last qually lap the game went into limbo & by the time I had aborted & rejoined I was locked out.
Hope you guys have a good race.

Short but sweet...

Good start and was shaping up to be a nice close battle at the front with no one being able to pull away. Stayed in touch (4th) a la Preying Mantis and then thought will this last.
Sure enough it didn't, on lap 4 RV took a slide right collecting Al and then myself concertina effect. Looked like a genuine loss of control to me but nowt I could do.

Anyway with nothing at stake for me taking a SnG and being a rear-ender with no tow didn't sound like fun so bowed out gracefully.

Ropey start, followed Al for a lap and got past with a tow. It was close racing for 3 or 4 laps until Rob passed me into the final turn but spun on the inside collecting Al. I paced myself from here on in not using all the revs as I was scared of blowing the engine. I must admit I took a bit of a gamble with my setup by adding another clutch to help me rotate the car on the throttle easier and also my tyres were "full of wind". An enjoyable but rather tense race. Well done to the podium with a great 2nd place for Al and also thanks to Rob.

Congrats to Johnny for another win, and commiserations to Rob, I really thought you had this championship wrapped up and it was a little unfortunate that you spent most of the season in the BT7.

I’m happy with my race but a little disappointed with my result. I started quail and went looking for a tow straight away. I never got a really good tow but I did managed to get a OK one for my lap, went ever I got a tow I tried to give a tow back. I was really hoping for a lap in the 36’s for my quail time, but never managed to get a good lap in. I was looking good on my last lap, but Giovani was a little late on his brakes and we had a coming together.

I got a great start to the race and was in the lead for a while. There were a group of 4 of us, me, Rob, Johnny and Vos. We were all about the same pace and all dicing, swapping positions etc. I was taking it easy, waiting for everything to come up to temp, and trying not to do anything silly. But at the same time I needed to remain with the group to keep the tow, I didn’t want to fall behind because re-catching up would have been difficult. It was great fun while it lasted, but Rob made a small mistake and I hit his spinning car. I needed to do a Shift & R and took my stop and go straight away.

After my quick pit stop I was just behind Giovani and I was in his tow. Because of the tow I caught him quickly, but he was wrapping really badly, I didn’t want to get too close. We both caught up with Girard and I managed to get past and put Girard between me and Giovani, that gave me a little gap so I was able to break the tow. Next up the road was Dave and Rog, I started to push to catch them, but it wasn’t going well, my pit board kept increasing the gap, from 6 seconds, to 7 and then 8. Nothing I could do apart from keep driving as fast as I could. I don’t know if anything happened between Rog and Dave because suddenly they were both right in front of me. I pulled into their tow and managed to get past Dave and was baring down on my teammate Rog. Rog was very kind and pulled over to let me past, unfortunately he pulled over to the side I was trying to overtake and I had to dip a wheel onto the grass Smiley it certainly kept me awake. Thank you again Rog for pulling over for me, and I’m sorry it cost you a place to Dave. Ran out of laps after that, Johnny was cruising also, so I doubt I would have been able to catch him under normal conditions.

I normally make a real mess of Monza, so I’m glad that I didn’t make any mistakes. At the same time I’m pretty sure that I could have won this race, and I’m really disappointed that I didn’t get pole. I’m pretty happy with my recovery drive and the season as a whole. I’ve been much more consistent this season and have challenged in a number of races. I’m really looking forward to next season, and will have to decide if I should move up to inters, or go for a championship challenge in Novices.

STAY WITH THE NOVS!!!

Obviously didn't get a great grid slot. I had been running mid-high 1:37's in practice but online the setup didn't work quite as well and I was also cautious into Parabolica which definitely cost me some time. Nonetheless made a good start and Mini and Adam clashed in front of me which promoted me a couple of places. I was contesting Para with Nigel on Lap 1 and I stayed tight and caught him with draft. I remember thinking 'candy from a baby'... the tow makes it so easy... only to see Nigel re-pass me on the exit. Curses! I then drafted him down to Curva Grande and took a tight line again but Nigel over-rotated (I think) and we both had nowhere to go. DRAT and DOUBLE DRAT!

Reset and Adam passed me in the pits as did Joe. Adam seemed to be struggling a bit so I was heppy that Joe and I could get past. Joe's lack of racecraft showed when he biffed Adam into Lesmo 1 (Sorry on Joe's behalf Adam). That let me through again. I was quite surprised when they caught me up again - well played. I was obviously being over-cautious. Joe normally goes well at Monza so I wasn't surprised to see him ease past me but then he had some issues and I was away.

Back to a battle Royale with Nigel - I held him off for what seemed like 100 laps but he finally got me and we had some good side by side action at Para and Curva Grande and finally Lesmo. I cut inside and saw that he was drifting wide. I thought I would get a better exit but then the Smith Whale started to turn... gulp. Just got past. Phew. After that it was a matter of keeping neat and tidy to the line. Couldn't catch Rob ahead but didn't lose much time either so frustrating to not be in the mix. Nigel and I were both fast enough and I really enjoyed our dice.

I have enjoyed thye season and I hope you have too. I expect a few to go up to Inters and maybe one to come down so that the Pros gets a bit beefed up. Might mean that the Novs is a bit thin.

Anyway, thank you all for taking part.

Hi Boggy,

I had this problem for ages too. Do you use a router? Some ports need to be opened up if you do.

Hi Al
We use a France telecom "livebox" which provides Broadband phone and French TV but have been using wifi and not sure if its the wifi that is causing the problem. For next season will move to SFR the other big service provider in France and pc will be hard wired. I have learned so much from you guys and am really looking forward to next season

Cheers

Thought I had made a bad mistake when I joined to find a Lotus swarm!
I had taken a few cars out for a spin in a brief pre-event test.   But there was nothing between the actual or Prib suggested times for Ferrari/Honda/BT11/Lotus.  There were tenths/hundredths between them.

Maybe I just drive them all equally bad!  Or, the random internet-sourced setups from the same person really make them all drive the same Smiley
In the end;  plumped for the Ferrari - as it IS Monza.

Had some fun exchanging places with Philippe in the opening laps;  then was just able to edge ahead & keep going for a long catch up to Rog and some further fun.  I think I was up into 2nd briefly - not that it means much unless the flag is out.  It looked as if we were also closing slowly on P1 but maybe that pace ahead was managing the gap.  More changes of position with Rog & I screwed it up/dropped back somewhat,  so began the catch-up again.  This time,  Al was gaining on me & we were both gaining on Rog.

Ah - that explains the fun down the last straight then;  it sure kept me awake too - did seem rather a close one!

The earlier incident at the last corner car-park probably helped somewhat,  but good to see all the Fezzas on the (yes, provisional!)  podium Smiley

This rounds of a surprisingly fun season.  I'm glad that I dropped by for the last couple of races of s22 which prompted me to come back for more '65 action.

Cheers all,
Dave.

Stupid game.
Got the dreaded square wheel on the BT11 - after downloading the patch which was supposed to fix it. Angry
Switch to the lite carset - it was designed for online use, and all wheels will remain round, while connected. laugh  If you must insist on the full65, make sure the fix files have unzipped to each car folder.  Better still, use the Realistic Ride Height patch - it has all the right files, and looks more realistic! Cool
