All members welcome.

Grid/server capacity: 28

Practice: ~19:20 (80 mins)
Qualifying: Random Grid
Race: 20:40 (5 laps)

Track: Isle of Man Mountain Course Download this

Cars allowed: Any standard TC-65 car plus Ford Anglia Download this

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk LCMT
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.
Special Notes: None

I think this will be the 3rd running of the Lawrence Clemo Memorial Trophy. Could we have a little reminder to why this event gets to take place please?

I remember racing him, I just think it would be nice to have a few words written, as a mark of respect & for the benefit of our drivers new & old.

Hope it's okay to suggest it.

Happy to oblige

Lawrence Clemo or LigelC, as most would perhaps know him, raced here and at other leagues in GTL and P&G events. It would be safe to say that his comfort zone was nearer the rear of the grid but his enthusiasm for sim racing was infectious and he made many friends during his time with us.
A nice memory of Lawrence would be this thread from 2010 https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=7609.msg134673#msg134673

His last race with us was in March 2010 and he succumber to his cancer on May 7th 2010.

Thanks Tony for spending a few kind words on our good friend LigelC. It was rather by accident that I came across this thread as I am not a UKGTL regular at the moment. I appreciate UKGTL  doing this "laurie"memorial event
every year. Laurie was someone liked by the entire simracing community because of his enthousiam and invariable cheerful mood. To me he was also my rearguard buddy in GPL and GTL. Many times when either of us accidentally managed to crawl too far up the leaderboard, we somehow slowed down a bit to be able to race eachother enjoying it immensely.
Being on holiday I can't join you gents in this race but will try to be at this special event next year. In memory of Good old Lawrence Clemo.

Yes LigelC and I had many a tussle  to see which of us would avoid that last place.  Also by chats I found that he was also a former "Brat" (RAF Apprentice at No 1 S of TT RAF Halton) although we were there at the same time we never met 2000 to 3000 of us spread over 3 Wings with a large geographical separation.  wheelchair  rockon

Don't know if anyone else has tried to log on to server for this event but I've had no success.  Last night ping was 11 then went to --- , similar today except ping was 128 and ---.

I get good frame rates for GTL/GTR2/PnG and have 8Gb of RAM; off line the track takes an age to load with all that data - I was wondering if the server has a max time to load which if exceeded results in being dumped, like sending e-mails to people with very slow connections and getting them returned undelivered.

Advice/help please.

Well Bill, i can't confirm this as i have a problem of other kinds. Downloaded add-on car and track (Nice, TT course!) sadly when loading the track it crashed to desktop. Uninstalling the extra car and track it seems to still give the same problems, now with other tracks! Also my .plr file got corrupted.

Now i read somewhere installing a secondary GTL and copying the "game data" map into the existing GTL install could solve this. Can anyone confirm this?

Guy's, I checked the server and it was not loading the car set. Think I've fixed that now and I have just been on-line and successfully joined the on-line praccy session. Track load time was normal.

Would really appreciate some others trying to join on-line as time is counting down if I am to have to find a suitable replacement track.

Off line track loading bit faster than I remember - just the last chequered portion takes longer than usual say about 2 to 3 times longer.

Unfortunately the on-line attempts are just as described before and are a no go for my computer setup. Hopefully other drivers will take the hint and give it a whirl.

Seems ok online here. Takes a while to load but gets there eventually. Unfortunately I discoed halfway round my outlap  Roll Eyes

Not a fan of these loooooooooong Dan Dare tracks as they seldom produce a decent race imho. Just glad I don't have to do it for real....on 2 wheels  Shocked
