Hmmm ...... another change, this time both the cars and the track Roll Eyes

I feel a little stupid having spent time learning the track ( which is hard for old boys like me ) testing the different car options ect.

Is there some way, we could help you test a track on the server beforehand Matt ?

Did you mean IROC version of RSR3.0? That car is evenly matched (give or take) with 914 unlike pure race ready RSR3.0 which is at least 5 seconds faster, not 0,8.

I'd hazard a guess and say you're right there. Shame because the non IROC is a great drive here.

There is only one chicane Clive and it's almost flat out with a blind entry over a slight crest. At least as good as the '88 track imo  Cool

I meant RSR 3.0 not IROC, you can take the IROC if you want, If Aliens post RSR3.0 times 5 seconds faster than the Cobra 427
then I may edit the cars choice, if a car is too slow for you then take a faster one  Wink if a car is too fast for you take a slower one
Some of our faster drivers tend to choose a car that is not the fastest so they get a challenging race.
People can take any of the listed cars, but if an Alien takes the RSR3.0 or the 427 Cobra they may have a lonely race up front.
I found the 914 got through the twisty part better than the RSR 3.0 hence - for me at least, the times were not a huge difference
and I wanted to keep a Cobra in that was competitive.

I picked the PR version CLive because the GT one has some big chicanes that I got lost in, this one is great fun when you get the
hang of it. (IMHO of course)
Sorry for the changes guys, Is difficult for me to test the tracks with our server when I am away from home so much. I am away yet
again next week, hence the mad testing this weekend.

Think ourselves fortunate that I tested it on line yesterday. (I spent most of Saturday and Sunday Morning despite domestic pressure  Shocked  )
rather than find out mid week.  hang

@Stig. I will tell you waht to do, later, but I have to go drive now.

If someone wants to setup a test server and try any or all of the upcoming events on line I would be very grateful

Actually this event is now way better than the original, in track and in cars. If someone complains that there are not enough car
choices I will screammmmmmmmm   Grin

Right that's it, I off down the M5 to spend a week in Bristol. No fighting now girls and boys, play nicely  angel

I wouldn't mind testing it Matt, and surely I could find someone to help me.

but ..............   Sad unfortunately, I don't know how to do the nescessary port-forwarding on my PC to setup a dedicated server that works.

Can some teach me how?

@ phspok
As I said in Oulton park topic - I like underdogs and despite not being an alien (also not slow) I`ll take something slower with 4 gear gearbox.

To help little about car strength, this is my times. 3 measured laps, fuel for 20 laps and harder tires:

RSR3.0 - 2:06:6
Pantera boss - 2:09:9
boss 302 - 2:10:0
cobra 427 - 2:10:6
IROC - 2:12:3
914 - 2:12:5

I admit that I`m not able to extract cobra`s best but I still think that nothing is match for RSR3.0 here ... on the other hand, I like the way of giving choice here as you described.

Thanks Ed, I am rubbish with 911s so my RSR times are usually slower than most people.
The RSR3 was such a good drive here though that I wanted it in. I am also historically poor with Cobras
so I am hoping that a good Snake Charmer will give the Coleopterists a hard time.
My emergency plan was to make this an RSR3.0 spec race, so if that's how it ends up so be it.
I have tried to give people a selection as well though. I tried the Panty Modena and the GT40
but the Modena was several seconds faster than everything else, and the GT40 was too fast
for the group.

If everyone gets the RSR3 round 4 secs faster than the Cobra 427 (not sure how much difference there is
but there are a mix of 427s) then the RSR might get dropped, but I don't like changing things the week of the race.
Stig sends ICBMs over the North sea if I do.  Shocked

I think dropping a car like the rsr into this mix is a wrong move. It's just changing the parameters too much Matt. The original car choice was mainly heavy metal with big engines and unsubtle handling but now you have precision instruments like the RSR in it  Huh Doesn't make sense. As soon as 1 other driver has proved it's 4 secs faster, it's no longer viable.
It's worth seeing GC's car groupings for cars on similar pace, all based on actual times achieved from several test races.

You're doing a great job Matt. Whatever and whenever you decide, is fine by me.
I won't have time to practice this week anyway.

If I take out the RSR3, then I must take out the Cobra 427, then the 914 will be too fast then the
BOSS mustang will have to go, then if I leave as the original cars the Panty BOSS is 2 secs
faster than the original other two.......

Ed's times may be "normal" but I am surprised he has the RSR3 so far ahead.
Gimme some times guys, and we may adjust the car choice.. If Everyone gets the same spread with
the RSR3 so far in front of everything else then I will remove it.

This is my best shot after spending most of the weekend testing cars.
If you want to do some testing Mark and come up with a better selection then shout up quick
and I can change it. I don't like changing things during the week of an event though as it bothers people
but nothing is cast in stone.

Personally I think this will make a good race if people are sensible with their car choices
The RSR3 and the 427 Cobra are great fun round here, the Cobra is harder to drive fast
but could win in the right hands, and the other cars are easier and also good fun.

P.S PLease can people remind me of the GC and/or Bierebude lap times pages?

Gamers Crib PnG laptime pages:

GC Pub Server (standard tracks): http://78.46.95.57/webpub/GCPnGV3PUB_LapStats.html

GC Pub Server (Add-on tracks): http://78.46.95.57/webpub/GCPnGV3ADDON_LapStats.html

GC WSL: http://78.46.95.57/webpub/GCPnGV3WSL_LapStats.html

NG League: http://78.46.95.57/webpub/GCNGPnGV3_LapStats.html

The last two may be the most useful as they will already have the car classes restricted to provide some good matches. Not too many race results on these yet though - more will be added week by week.

Thanks Frex, much appreciated.
Hard to tell with this track, but looking at Marko's times for Melbourne suggests that the
427 is not as fast as I think it is. The long straight here might make the difference.

Could do with knowing how others get on with the RSR3.0. I'm with Mark on trying to keep
some sort of historical grouping for the cars, but I will run whatever produces good racing
as required. RSR3.0 is on probation at the moment, I am wondering how the 427 would
figure if I were to drop the RSR3.0?

I got to mid 2:05s in the RSR and stopped practising as I was sure it would be dropped for being too quick. When it was hinted that the RSR might be replaced by the IROC, I started practising in that and would be a little miffed if it was not available now. I'd never choose to drive a tank if something else were available.

Imho a well driven tank will be a good match for the IROC or the 914 over a lap and will also have an obvious advantage down the Mistral straight.
