Moderator's Report

Sooooo close to a clean race....

Server replay time: 0h01m12s

Nigel is closing fast on Billy who closes the door. Although Nigel backs out, GPL decides they are too close and flips Billy. This sets off a chain reaction that includes Fran; James Andrew and Pierre D. Michael does well to slow and avoid the carnage but that catches out Fran who gives Billy a second whack.

Bill could have helped Nigel out a bit by leaving room and Nigel could have backed out earlier when it became clear a pass wouldn't stick. Neither did too much wrong.

Watkins Glen International ("The Glen") is an auto race track located near Watkins Glen, New York, at the southern tip of Seneca Lake. It was long known around the world as the home of the United States Grand Prix, which it hosted for 20 consecutive years (1961–1980). In the early years races passed through the heart of the town with spectators lining the sidewalks, but after a car left the road in a 1952 race, killing one spectator and injuring several others, the race was moved to a new location on a wooded hilltop southwest of town. Later a permanent race course was constructed on 550 acres, overlapping part of the previous course. Despite improvements, the circuit became unable to safely handle the increasingly faster and stiffer ground effect cars of the late 70s and a few horrendous, sometimes fatal accidents and increasingly rowdy segments of the crowd began to tarnish its image. Finally, in May, 1981, several months after Alan Jones had won the 1980 race for Williams, the International Auto Sports Federation removed the race from its schedule because the track had failed to pay its debts to the teams.

Gutted to miss this one, but I shall be on holiday (the one to get over Xmas/NY!!!)

Baab and I will continue as Team Baarf this season. For the first race of last season we didn't earn any team points cos I didn't realise we had to do anything to ensure we were associated with the championship (as a team). Should this be automatic, or does everyone have to do this at the start of the season?

Cheers

You need to set the Team scoring up.  It might have defaulted to what you want but best to check.  On the Blue buttons above select "LM2" and then "Team Management".  You should get a page up that allows you to select "All" (which obviously means all series) or individual series if you are a member of more than one team.  So for example you could score for Team X in the Historics and Team Y in the Works.

Oh dear - not a good start to the season;  clearly some practice required!

Qually was surprisingly good considering.  Main event was only a couple of laps - but good to get the season underway.

Cheers all,
Dave.

Had fun in the Eagle but I was so late to qually that I didn't even know which car I was in...

Set one lap from the pits and spent the first few laps finding out whether I could drive the car or not. Generally I could but I kept finding Neutral at the last turn which span me. Did that at least ten times. Other than  that - pretty steady.

Apologies to anyone I got in the way of, tried to be a good citizen but apparently wasn't entirely helpful once or twice. Offended parties can claim beer... you've just got to find me...

Besides the pole, not a good start of the season for me Roll Eyes

In the 11th lap my engine blew...
When I did the reset I was about 250m ahead of the Gebhards, but it needed a second to get away, Flo was surprised and just touched me, what made me spin in front of his father... SORRY!

I took the ESC to avoid further carnage

Good to get the season underway with a busy grid & some new faces. I particular I enjoyed the long battle with TinTin.
With Rainer having moved up to join the Works the Black Night Racing has drafted in Andreas to help retain the Privateers team championship. Good to see he has started the campaign with a podium.
One major incident on Lap 1 – left the Brabham spinning on its top until a following driver flipped me up the right way. GPL was rather kind & decided the car was OK & did not need a reset.
Just to clarify some of the discussion in Char – this series does allow one Shift R – followed by a compulsory Shift R.
Zeltweg next – good choice of track.

I think that should be Rainier  laugh

"Rainer" sounds German ...and it seems the Privateers championship could be dominated by Germans this season.
With the very fast Axel "Vettel" Cookie and the family Andreas "Michael S." Gebhardt and Florian "Ralf S." Gebhardt  Grin

I also hope Philippe Girard could have nice results this season (5th on the grid, that was good !)

Sorry David - I have a habit of mis-spelling.
It does seem that the Germans will be monopolising the front of the Privateers grid - hopefully we wont see any of this behaviour - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10333211
{Apologies - nothing against Germans, but this is such a great story it deserves to be shared).

Don't forget Hendy and Sky, two very experienced 67 drivers! Not german...

I am still a rooky in 67s, doing my first FT season Wink
But Vettel could be my grandson!
