I've done some more testing with the Capri and IMSA, and RSR3.0 and with my test setups I get 1:36.2 in all cars and I am using the more powerfull later IMSA, so I am allowing all CSLs.

Didn't you tell her about the Capri & your big grin? Neither of these items seemed to cut much ice! that sounds bad luck Clive, dont they realise 'Racing is life and everything else is just waiting?' so Stevie Mcqueen tells us I agree with Mr McQueen but that didn't go down too well either!

I had to miss the last race due to work but hope to be able to make this one. Brands is one of my favourite tracks, but at the same time a highly frustrating one - there is so much time to be gained by getting a corner just right, but I hardly ever get all of them right over a full lap. And, in the fast right handers at the top of the hill, if you think you've got the car hooked up just right but you haven't, it's all over.
This time, I'll practice the start off-line!
Now an etiquette question: last time in qualifying, I put in a quick lap on soft tyres and with low fuel, just to see how fast I could go and obviously to improve my starting position, which put me on the front row. This would be the done thing in real racing but most of you didn't seem to bother. Is this frowned upon? Do we all qualify on race fuel and with our race setup? If so, I'll of course do so as well.

You set as quick a lap as you can in qually, with whatever setup you choose Personally, I'm normally still working on my race setup during qually

Strange statement maybe everyone else's tardy pace made it look like they werent trying hard enough but im pretty sure they were trying! As her majesty Legzy says, run as light and fast as you wish in qually. The only thing frowned on in qually is baulking someone on a quick lap or running too low a radiator and leaving a Batman style smokescreen behind you And i totally agree about trying to get all the corners right at Brands, its a pretty technical track really. Not many laptimes posted yet, everyone is playing their cards close

With IMSA (76) i can do mid 33s with race fuel and soft tires (not for the race because they can`t last the distance) and with medium tires it`s about low 34s to high 33s. Non IMSA is little bit slower (didn`t try Memphis) but with both i have the same problem - front right tire.
Capri is fast as IMSA (for me) but more nervous. Even if you not pushing the feeling is like you drive on the edge.
And that brings me to RSR - by far easiest car to drive (again for me) but too much underpowered because i lose about 2 sec from Hill`s corner up to Hawthorn Bend and again from Clark to finish line - hard acceleration points.
So my choice of weapon will be RSR (despite what i said) or Capri if my shifter refuse to engage 5th gear (again) because time lost with longer final ratio is marginal in order not to use 5th.

Nice times Ed, but another reason why the IMSA 76 shouldnt be allowed for quick drivers. Its newer than the rest of the cars and clearly faster. Thought we wanted close racing, not a car with a 2sec a lap advantage?

Thought we wanted close racing, not a car with a 2sec a lap advantage? Also Schnitzer Memphis - full second faster than anything else including newer IMSA. Obviously almost 30hp more than IMSA and 50 to 60 more than others 24v CSLs have something with it. These are the figures: BMW Schnitzer Memphis: 478hp / 1170kg IMSA 76: 441hp / 1130kg works: 431hp / 1180kg IMSA 75 & Art car: 425hp / 1130kg Faltz Alpina white: 425hp / 1170kg red: 420hp /1170kg Capri: 444hp / 1120kg RSR: 330hp / 1010kg

I'm struggling to get anything better than 36s with any car in race setup Haven't tried the IMSA here yet, but not keen on it so will probably take the RSR.

My 1:35 laptimes were set with 10laps fuel onboard, so expect i am similar pace to you with a 40min fuel load. Crikey, didnt realise the RSR was dropping 140bhp from the Schnitzer ! Even with a weight advantage its never going to keep up with one of them. I thought the IMSA 76 was the quickest beemer

I am aware of the differences in the power and weight of the cars. (But thanks for the figures Ed) I was cautious with the allowed cars before, this time I want to see what happens with no restrictions. Don't matter how much you shout MJ, I ain't gonna drop the faster cars to make it easier for Beetle Herders at this event. I am just happy that I can include the RSR in events now even if it is slightly dissadvantaged. If people wipe the floor with a clearly faster car then future events will reflect that. My times are within a couple of tenths in the '76 IMSA the Capri and the RSR, at some tracks the extra Schnizer power may overcome the weight disadvantage, I am not sure that's a clear cut case here. I also find the IMSA easy to drive compared to the Capri, though my average times were slightly better in the Capri. Let's see what happens on the night

No shouting from me, happy to see a good range of cars on track, though slightly confused you go to such pains in all the other races to make the cars similar and yet here your happy to let a clear 2-sec advantage car join the group when already a decent enough set to race each other Im taking the RSR whatever Not to mention i could imagine the outrage on here if it was the bleeding RSR wiping the floor with the other cars

Beetle Herders
Lol - wasn't aware of this expression. But I agree the 'Beetles' are rather slow here. I still hate the Capris so I will take one of the lower-powered BMWs probably.

I ain't gonna drop the faster cars to make it easier for Beetle Herders here here, long may it continue So what's a good slow car here (other than the Beetle)? I want to be just a little faster than MJ, so that he gets to enjoy seeing me only gradually disappear off into the distance

I'll be in the BMW IMSA, am hitting a few 1:35's for race pace (after getting rid of understeer in spades!).
Tried the Capri & normal BMW first, but they're just not my bag baby.
