horrible feeling i'm on a hiding to nothing by taking the delightful 911ST tonight. One tap or lean-too mid corner and i will be spinning more times than a propeller  surrender
Still i shall be in one whatever! as sure the rest of the field will be in alfas and escorts!

Agreed. Tried the 911 last night and it was pure fun..

Problem i always have though is i find a big difference between lapping alone in it, compared to when in traffic - as soon as other cars are on track there is always a danger of having to lift off mid-corner or run into someone, and lifting off always means an instant trip backwards through the nearest hedge..

Try my easy listening setups which will likely be slower but as I can't drive 911s may be more stable.
The zip is just everything off the machine I did testing on for this event.

I'm often suprised by the way the "simpler" track layouts often provide the best racing, especially when the terrain is undulating. One example would be that Australian track, Lakeside? or is it Riverside. Always had good scraps there. Sorry for going off-topic.

I don't find that surprising at all Tony.

In GPL some of the best racing was frequently to be seen at Monza (Before it was ruined with chicanes) whereas, at the other extreme, Nurburgring was, IMHO, a complete waste of time for racing.

It's great for learning tracks and seeing where everyone is. Purists might disagree though..

It is most useful when you crash, you can instantly see if any cars are near when looking to rejoin.

I ended up getting hopelessly stuck on the hairpin-kerb  Embarrassed

But I had a great race in the lovely Alfa 1600 SA, while it lasted  Grin

Think I finished 10th, I reckon I might have challenged Simon for 9th on the last 5 laps or so, but I managed to put a wheel off the outside of T1 as I was reeling him in & that caused my one spin of the race & ended any chance of scrapping with him to the end.

Good track for racing & good balance of cars, I didn't manage to extract enough speed out of my Alfa this week. Congrats to Jonzo, apparently the sun even shines on a dogs but some days Wink

Great turnout, see you at Reims (or Paul Ricard for GTR2 or Oulton Park for GTL)

That didn't go too well..

Pc crashed twice during qually (was on a nice lap at the time too, grr..). Got back in and rushed another lap for P8.

Sitting on the grid and i stupidly pressed my Shift key to change my driving view - it's what i do in GTL to go into cockpit view and i guess i just forgot for a moment this was PnG, not GTL. What a doofus..  Roll Eyes

Trouble is that i know from experience that trying to cycle back round to the correct view just brings up the "sticky keys" box and minimises the game. So with the race about to start i didn't want to risk changing it again and so was left stuck in bumper cam, not cockpit view. And it was horrible - couldn't judge where i was properly and probably braking way too early (apologies to anyone behind me). Surprised i lasted as long as i did (even a few good laps racing), but eventually mis-judged the braking for T1 and went off into the wall.

And just for good measure my pc crashed again just afterwards, so i guess i was not going to finish this one anyway..

Ah well, congrats podium and cya next race.

Well, this was a bit of a disappointment. I hoped that by putting in an early quick lap on soft tyres I'd get myself up front and avoid any trouble.  Ok, up front I was, but out of trouble I wasn't: the pole sitter stalled on the grid and I lost two places through turn 1. Chasing the front runners, I found myself unable to brake for the hairpin as late as the others and was a sitting duck whenever we came round there, losing more places.

On lap 11, I hit a white Alfa that was parked across the hairpin.

After I got going again, I was behind Simon Loynes who was a lap down but too focused on chasing seniordan to see the blue flags. After a good dozen laps or so, seniordan crashed (spectacularly). Then my wheel came loose and I had to drive pressing the wheel to the desk, and looking at a monitor that was turned 45° away from me. A little later simon who was by now now going faster so that I couldn't catch him spun and I was hoping to catch up with the 5th placed Alfa.

However, with not many laps to go, I ran wide at the chicane, passing through the barrier into the grass - only to find that you could get through the barrier off the circuit, but not back on. I tried to find my way back but eventually gut stuck somewhere and quit.

For the final few laps, I watched the battle for the lead between JohnW and Geoffers on TV - hats off to you both, superb driving!

Do we have to do incident reports as set down in the rules?

LOL legzy, takes a bow.....  Grin  bet you just loved being lapped by me  laugh

whoohoo 4th !!  Cool

That was a frickin' superb race! Dont know about you guys but i was even enjoying just sitting in my pit garage with the sound cranked up and hearing a full grid of cars fly past or start up...mega  Cool  Flat six's, BDA's and Alfas...what a symphony!

Qually was a hectic affair and tough to make a space for clean laps with so much traffic but managed to stay in the top 10 throughout the whole sesh, think i ended up 6th or 8th?

Kept it clean off the start and hung onto the bumper of Frex and another alien ahead for the first 10 mins or so, with decent pace and able to stay with them for once  Smiley As the laps progressed several guys ended up in the kitty litter or making errors and i was soon up into 4th  Shocked
I noticed Jos catching 10th by 10th and after what seemed like 10mins or so he was up with me in his snarling escort. That started a great battle for the remainder of the race with us swapping places a couple of times and great close driving with neither of us making errors.
Finally on lap blinking 42 out of 43 i had a duff entry into the hairpin allowing the pouncing Jos up the inside. I kept my foot in hoping to keep just ahead but it was a tighter line than normal on the s/f straight curve, the car got loose over the bumps and i executed a flat out 360 spin that i just managed to control and end up pointing the right way !  sweatdrop (that would have been a sickening end!!)
Jos no doubt joyfully sped off into the sunset and grabbed the remaining podium spot. What a great battle!

I was simply loving hanging onto the countersteer through the Turn1 sweeper, what an awesome feel, the P&G guys have got this great little 911 spot on  I Am Not Worthy The event was superb, the cars well matched, and even cars trapped in the sand pit added to the atmosphere! and i'd said i find this layout dull!...ha, not in these cars.

Very chuffed to finish 4th with such exultant company (ie numerous aliens!) in my fave car  thumbup1

Top pace in the front 3  I Am Not Worthy
