Moderator's Report

No incidents reported and a reasonably clean red zone but one or two students had to report to the Headmaster's study...

Server replay time: 0h00m58s

Dean Logan is caught out by Hendy's braking point at T1. Dean should have been more cautious on Lap 1 and left himself more room. The first corner in a full car on cold tyres is not the place to be brave. Dean does try to avoid Hendy but is too late.

The rules have this: The victim made no mistakes and was driving their normal line at normal speed. The shunter made no allowance for the victim whatsoever. The shunter was in full control.

This would normally be a two place penalty with one extra for Red Zone.

Nonetheless, I have reduced the penalty to two places as the touch was marginal. This was more a misjudgement of placement than carelessness.

  • DLogan (Dean Logan)penalty — Blatant Rear End Shunt + 1 place for Red Zone (ameliorated) — 2 places lost

Server replay time: 0h01m06s

Tintin spins at the top of the hill under braking and collects the ever unfortunate Monsieur Girard. Tintin recovers the spin with the aid of Mr. Smith who is left nowhere to go.

Server replay time: 0h01m52s

Michael gets in the cobbles at the entry to the Bosch kurve and spins from one side of the track to the other. James Andrew does extraordinarily well to avoid him.

The second round of the season will be at Zeltweg in Austria or should I say the Österreichring.  I assume we use the Zeltweg name because the German umlaut isn't allowed in a windows path, at least not on my "English" PC.  Originally built in 1969 to replace the bland and bumpy Zeltweg Airfield circuit, the Österreichring track was known for being very fast, as every corner was a fast sweeper and taken in no lower than 3rd gear in a 5-speed gearbox and 4th in a 6-speed gearbox.  There are also noticeable changes in elevation during the course of a lap which means the downhill sections are even faster. Like most fast circuits it was a hard circuit on engines and even harder on tyres simply because the speeds were so consistently high.

We will run Intermediate Damage with the allowance of ONE shift-R reset. No Shift-Rs are allowed in practice unless authorized by the moderator. A Shift-R (fault or not) MUST be followed by a Stop & Go. A Shift-R for tyres/fuel is not allowed. Any driver taking more then ONE Shift-R OR failing to take a Stop & Go will be disqualified from the race result.

Qualifying Time = Between 30 and 60 minutes, starting no later than 21:00 UK time

Replays Available here

Driver lists and token rules can be found on the championship standings page

The track can be downloaded from the link in the race list above.

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Moderating The red zone will be fully moderated for lap 1 only. For this event the red zone will be from the start line to the exit of Bosch Kurve. Other moderation will be on reported incidents only.  However any incidents that occur in the red zone that are not reported by the drivers will be reported by the moderator.  This will allow all affected drivers the opportunity to present their case before the incident is moderated.  This should ensure there are no surprises when the moderator's report is published and hence appeals will be less likely.  If you haven't received a PM about an incident before the link below the results table is removed, you can be sure that you will not appear in the moderator's report.

The chassis token system is explained on the Privateers standings page. Please ensure you choose a chassis that is within your budget, which can be seen by hovering the mouse over your points total in the standings.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Had a few enjoyable laps sandwiched between Billy and Nigel until Billy brushed the barrier while trying to avoid an incident ahead and cartwheeled back across the track into me. I was stuck against the barrier and reset but went off immediately at the next corner and landed on my roof. A pity as it was shaping up to be a good race. Ah well  - on to Monza.

Joined qually late because of family issues but set a lap about 1.8 secs down on my PB which was OK.

Made my best start ever in any race and made up 8 places! Was finding it amazingly easy to stay with the guys ahead and was, in fact, having to drive very carefully. Lap 2, top of the hill, braked early, changed down twice and BANG. Bye bye engine. Couldn't face starting from behind the field (couldn't reset) so I quit. I am not quite 'feeling' it this season. Sad

Shame really. Hope you all enjoyed it.

Couldn't get my setup to load had to write down the settings and make a new one before re-logging. Managed to log in and put in a PB in qually.

Wasn't expecting much but was a bit disappointed to be rear ended on T1 and then a wreck of my own fault caused me to lose a tyre. However, good luck at the end of the race had the 3rd and 4th place cars make mistakes which put me in 3rd. Quite pleased with that Smiley

I don't have an internet connection at home so I'm doing this season on a laptop which is actually quite nice since it's widescreen and higher res than my home machine.

Grats Flo and Cookie...hope to see you all for the rest of the season!

Poor preparation, I've never been able to feel comfortable on this track.

Bad race, bad setup, bad driver... (but good "badblood")

Bravo Florian , bravo to the podium.

I'm missing the entire month of February.

...was a bit disappointed to be rear ended on T1...

That was me, you'd slowed more and earlier than I was expecting, tried to go up inside but too late to avoid. Sorry.  Sad

Good to see you still made a decent showing. Had good fun chasing with Bernie, Andreas, and several others, but this Honda needs 3 or 4 more ratios in the box (race fuel loading really killed my drive out of final corner, but if I set 3rd gear for that exit, had no drive out of Bosch...).

Realistically, I was extremely lucky to have found myself in 3rd for so long!  I really should have thrown that away a lot sooner;   but the squabble behind probably helped somewhat whilst I was cruising around with plenty of space  (until the last number of laps of course!).   Being reeled in like that,   I was expecting 5th-6th at the best.

Somehow,  that semi-random Internet setup just before the race helped - my 1st 'flying' run took .7 of a second off my previous PB  (even if I did wreck the engine about 2 laps later).  Maybe all tracks with a hump do not closely resemble Mosport really....

Cheers,
Dave.
