No reports so just the Red Zone to deal with.

Fran misjudges the braking distance and nudges Geoff. The difference in speeds is small and this is a small misjudgement. Fran retires.

He should have been a bit more careful though.

Moderator's Report

Last minute substitution with a tight grid. Standard of driving in the Red Zone was pretty good considering.

Server replay time: 0h01m07s

Goran gets a wheel on the grass which spins him and leaves Evil and Cookie nowhere to go. Natan is affected as well and Andreas does well to avoid him.

Server replay time: 0h01m18s

Hristo gets in Tristans tow and does not allow for Tristan slowing in the corner. There is a noticeable shunt.

Hristo is experienced enough to make allowances and this is on the border of unacceptable but only he is affected.

Server replay time: 0h07m15s

Phil hits Ronnie who has lost his car but Mr. T had nowhere to go...

Unfortunately for Ronnie and Hendy this arises from Ronnie outbraking himself and sliding into Hendy.

Server replay time: 0h07m50s

Nicky gets a touch on the grass which is invariably fatal and crashes into Andreas. Nicky correctly cedes the position as soon as he is able but this is unfortunate for Andreas.

Server replay time: 0h30m53s

Nicky misjudges the tow and rear ends Natan. Nicky holds his hand up. This is very similar to Hristo's incident but because Nicky touches one tyre only Natan is badly affected.

Server replay time: 0h38m48s

Phil hits Natan whose car is now stationary. Once more Mr. T has nowhere to go. Having blown his engine, Natan was a bit unhelpful parking where he did!

Natan feels that several people damaged his car but without specific incidents reported I can't comment!

UKGPL Season 24 Extra Trophy (69X)
Race 2 Reims

Welcome to the second round of the Extra Trophy for 69 Extra chassis. Reims is basically several long straights with a couple of hairpins and a few cornfields. Catching a tow is what this track is about. It normally produces close racing which will, doubtless, be a modding nightmare...

Reims-Gueux was first established in 1926 on the public roads between the small French villages of Thillois and Gueux. The circuit had two very long straights between the towns, and teams strove to maximize straight-line speed of their cars; many slipstream battles ensued. Race organizers actually felled trees and demolished old houses in order to make the circuit even quicker. International racing came with the first official Formula One event occurring in 1950, the inaugural year of the Formula One world championship. The circuit layout was shortened and changed in 1952 to bypass the town of Gueux; and the circuit was then renamed Reims. The layout was changed yet again in 1953, it was made slightly longer and faster; two fast curves and a hairpin further up the RN31 highway were added. The circuit was last used by Formula One in 1966 and the last car meeting was held in 1969.

The field will compress at the bottom hairpin (unless they have all spun off into the cornfields...) and there will be drafting aplenty down the back straight. It will all compress again and so the field will be VERY tight. If drivers are not patient, there WILL be crashes. The first lap will be fully moderated within the red zone. The red zone will extend to the whole of the first lap.

Please check the Season 24 pages for details regarding rules and the Extra Trophy pages in particular.

It is very important that drivers are FULLY familiar with the rules relating to Shift-R. EVERY Shift-R MUST be followed by a Stop-and-Go or the driver will be excluded.

This 69 season is started bad and continues bad.Sorry to,I think,Philip Giroud(was a Matra) for the collision at the first lap.In the confusion for what I have done,I pressed the esc instead of shift R.My involuntary punishment.

Hmm. Blew the engine off the line and had to reset. Then had a nicae battle with Fabio to see who was worst and then blew my engine again on Lap 7 just as Fabio was preparing a pass. Took him out. Sorry mate.

Looks like T7 blew an engine too Sad

I think UKGPL8 is a better bet for this graphically intensive Mod.

Early bath for me. Sorry for the contact Hendy, Phil and Florian. Hendy, I pulled out of the slipstream with space between us one second then in the next second we were drawn together like magnets with an innocent Phil caught by my spinning car. Good luck if you are all still running.

Bzzzzzz.....Wrong, it was me you took out Fran. Two races at Reims now I've been "Jonny'd" first lap. Best paint over that target ASAP..... Huh
Sorry to the field for my crappy start.....it put a wheel in the grass and it simply refused to come back under control.

After the 'unpleasantness' at the last corner on L1.....Bernie, Dave and Fabio were gone.....so I just set about finishing. Past Fabio at some point with some nasty looking skid marks on the road as evidence of his excursion cornward I believe. Could Just make out Dave and Bernie in the distance, so drove the pitboard to see if I could make any impression, sans any form of tow. Not even a helpful starling to gain some draft from!... Roll Eyes
They just seemed to march away with their combined tow.....so I accepted 3rd as best. Considering there were only 3 of us left by then....it wasn't hard to work out.

At the 1st hairpin a few laps later i saw some more skid marks heading fieldward on the exit. Looking up the road a bit, then checking prib, revealed Bernie recovering from a day in the country. Got my head down and started pushing to try and reel Bernie in a bit closer. Eventually picked up a little draft from him, which made the job so much easier.
I caught up to within 2-3 seconds with about 6 or 7 laps to go. Planning what I was going to do to snatch victory (2nd) from the jaws of defeat......when.....Bernie disappeared. Scared of me, I thought to myself.....but no, it seems Bernie must have disco'd. Unlucky mate, was looking forward to the standup, knock down finish to come. Dave ended up about 18secs up the road, well done mate, nice clean race....And a handy haul of points for me and Clark Hill.
Geoff.

That was a fun race.  Got caught up in a couple of incidents that I couldn't avoid so needed 2 SRs and 2 S&Gs.  Good battles with Hendy, Ronnie, Bob, Cookie, Florian (I think) and a few others.  Good track, the (possibly excessive) draft keeps the field together and produces some great racing Grin.

I had a couple of degrees of wing on and that seemed to make a huge difference in T1.  I could make loads of time up there and keep a tight line.

Errrr - that's not so good Phil... you are only allowed ONE Shift-R in this one... although I could be persuaded to change that.

Ooops, got confused by "EVERY Shift-R MUST be followed by a Stop-and-Go" in the race announcement.  Perhaps it would be clearer to say "if you take your one and only shift R it must be followed by a S&G".

But no problem I should have checked the rules properly.  Seems a pity when neither were my fault (IMO).  I'll submit reports anyway.

For the HEAVY race, we were only 7 at the start after the poleman Jonny'O has been disconnected.
I took a bad start and was overtaken by Bernie and Geoff.
After Geoff made a mistake, good battle with Bernie : his Lotus was way faster than my McLaren on the long straights but my car was more efficient for braking.
Probably, I had more wings.
On the 8th lap, Bernie made a mistake at the hairpin and then it was an easy (and little bit boring) race for me, alone with an advantage of 10 seconds on Bernie and Geoff cars.
Only 2 cars finished the line, the same as in Mexico.
I won and I am happy but it was not the victory I am the most proud !

Hope we will be more than 8 in Montjuich, which should not be an easy track for 69's !
Moreover, I should be handicapped.

Could have been a race for me...

I had a "no wing" setup that allowed me a top speed of ~ 320KpH (200mph) without and near 340kph with tow.

But my dreams were gone when Göran spun out of T1 and I t-boned him...
I recovered last and should have made a shift+r, as it proved in the next lefthander that my right front suspension was damaged, so I stranded in the cornfield...
Now I had to s+r and after the stop in the pits I was about a mile behind the others.

Now a catch-up race began that ended on the SF line with a 0,3sec ahead of Andreas  Grin

Shame, when my Antipasti team mate Phil got lost out of my slipstream by the fault of another driver!
That was great teamwork driving...

Now I understand why you suddenly slowed down!! NP mate.
Unfortunately I didn't have a reliable setup (too much wing probably...) and my drive wasn't really comfortable...

See you in... Montjuic?!? Really? It will be harder than 66s...

Mea Culpa - I should have been more explicit in the race post but I am running three series so I tend to miss a few things now and then.

Anyone who would like to help out can always send me a PM.  Grin
