Moderator's Report

Not much in the red zone except for the TOTAL CARNAGE at T1.

It all starts when Florian slows for T1 and isn\\\'t totally in control. Piero Mercaldo taps him from behind and Florain\\\'s car slews round. The rest is inevitable.

This is a difficult circuit with a fast run to T1 and then a tight, slow bend. Drivers MUST anticipate that drivers ahead may slow more than they need to. It is the responsibility of the driver behind to avoid running into the man ahead.

This was made much worse by midfield drivers hurrying to the scene and then some stopping and others not.

Fran and Bernie drive through the mess. Well, at least they had a clean race ... or not! See below...

Your moderator does get through and makes up several places (which he promptly gives up as people drive past him!

Server replay time: 0h01m00s

Florian slows for T1 and is tapped by Piero. Although this is a small touch, GPL models these incidents very badly and almost always resets the position of one of the cars very violently.

Although Piero is surprised by Florians lack of speed he must anticipate this. The consequences are out of all proportion to the potential benefits.

Best fit in the rules is this: The victim had partially lost control before contact and consequently his line was unusual. The shunter was in full control.

Server replay time: 0h01m01s

Andreas sees his boy in trouble and slows, Nicky gently taps him from behind.

This is not quite in the same league as the previous incident but Nicky should have been more careful.

Rules have this: The victim slowed unexpectedly and the shunter was too close to take avoiding action.

This applies because of the yellow flag situation.

Server replay time: 0h01m03s

Natan also stops and is tapped by Robert John

Carbon copy of Nicky\'s incident.

Server replay time: 0h01m05s

Geoff also slows and is tagged by Adam who is warping badly. This has to be a racing incident due to Adams warp BUT Adam is careless with his rejoin and impedes Geoff but in mitigation he is unsighted and sound is no help.

Server replay time: 0h35m00s

Bernie takes the crest a little fast and lands slightly sideways. Fran is a little slower ahead than previously (~5mph) and Bernie does not have time to get the parachutes deployed. Bernie did try and avoid the collision but should, perhaps, have been a little more cautious over the blind crest. Bernie's speed at impact was higher than Robert John's who was some 80 yards behind.

The rules have this: "The victim made no mistakes and was driving their normal line at normal speed. The shunter had lost control on the approach to the braking zone and consequently braked later than intended."

UKGPL Season 24 Extra Trophy (69X)
Race 3 Montjuich Parque

Welcome to the third round of the Extra Trophy for 69 Extra chassis. Montjuich Parque is a street circuit on Montjuich mountain above Barcelona.

A twisty tricky circuit it was the site of the tragic 1975 Spanish Grand Prix. Many drivers felt that the circuit was unsafe, and two time world champion Emerson Fittipaldi withdrew in protest before the start of the race. On lap 26 the Embassy Hill-Lola car of Rolf Stommelen left the track, killing five people. The race was subsequently stopped at half distance and half points awarded, with Jochen Mass being recorded as the winner. Lella Lombardi became the first female driver to score world championship points, taking 0.5 points for 6th place. Formula One never returned to the circuit after the accident.

Luckily the worst we can suffer is a lost wheel!

The first lap will be fully moderated within the red zone. The red zone will extend to the whole of the first lap.

Please check the Season 24 pages for details regarding rules and the Extra Trophy pages in particular.

It is very important that drivers are FULLY familiar with the rules relating to Shift-R. ONLY ONE IS ALLOWED and a Shift-R MUST be followed by a Stop-and-Go or the driver will be excluded.

You select the wing version from GEM+, though I'm not sure the 69x mod has such options. Mine at least seems to not have any, hmm.

Bernie's got it right. Start an offline session, pick the graphics you want (has no effect on the wing settings chosen in your setup), then quit and join race on iGOR.

If you switch mods, you'll have to repeat the above.

In the team select page, I cannot see where to pick the wanted graphics !!??
I see the multiple versions of the car, with the country where they have been used (MC, ES, GB, FR...) ...but no way to select one of them Sad

Only done a handful of laps here, as my old machines could never cope with this track.....consequently I never bothered with it. Was down to  hi 30's in practice last night and was getting the car sorted out gradually after about 15 laps. Why then, does the race server always drive like oil has been spilled at every corner on the racing line?? The car was undriveable and I slammed the bags after eight laps.....waste of effort really. Using tracks like this is surely gonna kill the interest in the mod, i know it's historically correct.....but the online version is, problematic. Nice flowing circuit to drive though, on your own.

Blown engine with a few laps to go but very enjoyable race. Sorry to Piero for the tap from behind at the first corner and Axl I think who got caught up in my mess. Grats to the podium.

But it's 10x better than boring fests like Reims and the likes, you can really enjoy the extra downforce around tracks like Montjuic.

My race was quite an up and down story, with some calm series of laps interrupted by several situations where appalling behaviour by some backmarkers caused unnecessary and avoidable incidents, or when blue flags were ignored and they raced me for a few corners. In addition to that, I had to survive my own mistakes and with the help of Int damage, I could somehow continue despite a few strong encounters with the armco! It's a shame Art had to drop back early on and then retire, as he seemed to have the pace to challenge for victory and could have made things interesting. In the end I was trying to entertain myself by pushing for fastest laps, but the tires overheated right in front of Dean as I spun in the last fast corner. Fortunately there was no contact and after I continued, I managed to do the fastest lap on the last lap. Grats to all who managed to finish this exhausting race!
