Moderator's Report

Not much in the red zone except for the TOTAL CARNAGE at T1.

It all starts when Florian slows for T1 and isn\\\'t totally in control. Piero Mercaldo taps him from behind and Florain\\\'s car slews round. The rest is inevitable.

This is a difficult circuit with a fast run to T1 and then a tight, slow bend. Drivers MUST anticipate that drivers ahead may slow more than they need to. It is the responsibility of the driver behind to avoid running into the man ahead.

This was made much worse by midfield drivers hurrying to the scene and then some stopping and others not.

Fran and Bernie drive through the mess. Well, at least they had a clean race ... or not! See below...

Your moderator does get through and makes up several places (which he promptly gives up as people drive past him!

Server replay time: 0h01m00s

Florian slows for T1 and is tapped by Piero. Although this is a small touch, GPL models these incidents very badly and almost always resets the position of one of the cars very violently.

Although Piero is surprised by Florians lack of speed he must anticipate this. The consequences are out of all proportion to the potential benefits.

Best fit in the rules is this: The victim had partially lost control before contact and consequently his line was unusual. The shunter was in full control.

Server replay time: 0h01m01s

Andreas sees his boy in trouble and slows, Nicky gently taps him from behind.

This is not quite in the same league as the previous incident but Nicky should have been more careful.

Rules have this: The victim slowed unexpectedly and the shunter was too close to take avoiding action.

This applies because of the yellow flag situation.

Server replay time: 0h01m03s

Natan also stops and is tapped by Robert John

Carbon copy of Nicky\'s incident.

Server replay time: 0h01m05s

Geoff also slows and is tagged by Adam who is warping badly. This has to be a racing incident due to Adams warp BUT Adam is careless with his rejoin and impedes Geoff but in mitigation he is unsighted and sound is no help.

Server replay time: 0h35m00s

Bernie takes the crest a little fast and lands slightly sideways. Fran is a little slower ahead than previously (~5mph) and Bernie does not have time to get the parachutes deployed. Bernie did try and avoid the collision but should, perhaps, have been a little more cautious over the blind crest. Bernie's speed at impact was higher than Robert John's who was some 80 yards behind.

The rules have this: "The victim made no mistakes and was driving their normal line at normal speed. The shunter had lost control on the approach to the braking zone and consequently braked later than intended."

Only done a handful of laps here, as my old machines could never cope with this track.....consequently I never bothered with it. Was down to  hi 30's in practice last night and was getting the car sorted out gradually after about 15 laps. Why then, does the race server always drive like oil has been spilled at every corner on the racing line?? The car was undriveable and I slammed the bags after eight laps.....waste of effort really. Using tracks like this is surely gonna kill the interest in the mod, i know it's historically correct.....but the online version is, problematic. Nice flowing circuit to drive though, on your own.

Geoff If your cars OK in testing then the old oily rag syndrome is more than likely poor frame rate due to having all those memory eating cars sharing the track with you .

My problem was the wrong car and a bad setup though i didnt realise until too late just how poor , all my practise was done with the fuel brimmed , thought i would be faster in race trim but what a shock to see i was 10 seconds behind the front runners ,
In the race it was another shock to see a blue flag waved at the hairpin after what seemed to be only a hanful of laps when I was in traffic some of which had rejoined after making pit stop , so didnt realise until to late the flag was for me , sorry to all involved .
From there onwards I was getting blues waved at almost every corner it didn't help having little or no rear vision because of the ruddy great Mclaren rear wing  , prib was playing up so didnt know who was doing what to who and the pit board was 3/4 off the screen so no help there .

Apart from that everything was fine , I do like Montjuich at least its never boring and there always seems to be a better line and nmore speed to find somewhere , just wish there were some decent 69X set ups for dummies somewhere , post race I went back int otraining mode and piled on the wing , the car was alot faster but still not there .

Grats to all who got to taste champers and well done to the rest of the playboys and hairdressers

The problem with 69x setups, Bernie, is that you can have so many wing angle combinations that one has to make different setups for each track. I generally separate my focus between slow and fast corners, with slow corners influenced more by my suspension setup and the fast ones by the wings (and partially the anti-roll bars and ride height). It's still quite a lot of driver input to make these go fast though, I was correcting the car all the time in each corner. It would be rather difficult to do if I didn't turn off my FF completely.

Grats to podium and finishers, it looks like there was some good racing last night.

Another race, another disco  Sad

I think I could compose a standard text to insert for every race at the moment.......

"Managed a reasonable grid slot.....got away well......avoided the usual T1 incident (by driving right around the outside).

Found myself in 4th spot as lap 1 unfolded and the tyres warmed up..... A mistake by the car in 3rd place car as we started lap 2...up to 3rd with a big gap back to the car behind...............1st and 2nd cars still in sight  and I knew I could go faster, looking good.........Disco!!!!!!"

Watch out for another thrilling instalment after the next race.................

Yea but 10 seconds Huh  maybe it was just the wrong choice of car , either that or the brakes were jammed on  Cheesy

<SIGH> I'll take a look Bernie. Almost certainly the server lost track of you. How many times were you lapped? Anyone else?

Congrats Hristo  Great lap as well

Grats to Florian and Dean for the podium

Thanks to Paul for helping me out on short notice

Thought I had a setup for Montjuich but seems this was my first 69X laps there. The default setup was ok after changing a few settings to "my" values. Can't see all the cars from my replay but I know for sure I bumped Natan at T1 and messed him up. Sorry.
I received a little bump myself around lap four but managed to keep going. I tried my best to let faster cars thru and can say that Montjuich is difficult in that respect. Not very happy with my pace but it was a fun race. Thanks for sharing the road

Peace

Agreed H, I do enjoy the track, it's aestheticly pleasing...and never a dull moment!
No frame drops here Bernie, solid 36-37fps, everything up full noise, and off the startline clean as a whistle FPS wise. Must have rained overnight, cos the Saturday setup failed to work on Sunday. By the way Bernie, congrats on the Heavy class win mate, with a handy second to Fran. Good effort lads.
Geoff.

Great Scott  Shocked

I hadn't even looked at those results  Roll Eyes forgot all about heavy and light brigade , anyway its confessional time so the results may change as I owe apologies to both Francesco for a rear ender and Hristo when I turned in on him , the Hristo incent had a knock on effect with following drivers unable to avoid my wreckage but appologies out to all involved.

Incident reports being submitted asap

Ah, so it was you at T1? I couldn't do anything to avoid contact, as I was already on the most inside part of the track. I thought you have seen me on the s/f straight before that, but with these cars having obscure mirrors and you fighting another car, it was probably not the case.  Tongue

The truth is I had a quick glimpse of a blue flag but I couldnt believe I was being lapped (Not so early in the race , Lap 9 I think ) I thought the cars behind were all on the same lap but perhaps one of them was a lap down after having made a pit stop due to the Lap 1 fracca  Roll Eyes I only knew for sure after seeing the replay . Luckily you scraped through somehow without damage otherwise I would have received the hate mail by now  nono
