That wasn`t acording to plan. First with shortened race from 24 to 22 laps - I just love those last laps when tires are off and level of concentration is low ... plus after finish I had fuel for 5 more laps.

I had bad start because lights was shimmering and I understood that green is on only after guys in front of me launch themselves, but I lost only one place so it was not that bad after all. My strategy was to stay close to Clive, put some pressure but mainly to preserve tires for last laps hooray. And in 17th lap, last corner, my gearbox refused to engage 2nd gear. Went deep and lost full second in that last corner. Than trying too hard to get close resulted with even slower lap times - when I gave up in last lap, I was in 39s again ... too late.

Overall, it was a good race and some decent points for Team Oldie.
For next race is car choice that I love and racetrack that I hate ... I need better plan to destroy...
Plan of course.

So I wasn’t the only one who started the Q session without training…

The track I knew from a previous NoGrip race organized by Geoffers. As a Triumph fanatic, I had to choose the TR4 off course Wink  I used a set-up (nothing special) from a previous race at Goodwood and hoped for the best. That turned out not too bad, with a 5th grid position.

At the start, due to engines revving etc, I bogged down my engine and had a slow start. But fortunately for me, I wasn’t the only one as I could grab 3th spot and even 2nd before Geoffers took back that position from me. After a couple of laps I had a “moment” and made a nice 360 pirouette just after the first chicane and continued in 6th position, just behind frex’ Ferrari. A nice cat-and-mouse game went on for a couple of laps before I could overtake and grab the 5th position. The second half of the race was a lot less interesting as I didn’t meet other racers, except for Alex who kindly let me pass in the last corner before the finish flag.

Grats to podium and see you next race!

Realised in qually i had mis-read the car selection options (oops), but at least i knew which way the track went. Quickly changed to the Ferrari 250 GTB for a brief but enjoyable few laps. It's a little cumbersome for my tastes (prefer the nimbler cars usually), but was good fun and not doing too badly until i misjudged a corner entry, bounced over a kerb and hit a barrier hard.

Congrats podium.

Was a bit rushed after making running repairs to my pedals so didn't really have a chance to try all the cars properly. I chose the Elite which turned out to be a bad choice and resulted in a very drab race for me. No hope of catching anything in that and a sitting duck on the straights  Roll Eyes

Well done teamie Geoffers for the win  Cool

I got off the line reasonably but nowhere near as fast as John in his Healey.

I pulled alongside Geoffers on the way to T1 but realised that being on the outside of the first bit was always going to put me at a disadvantage.  So I backed off and concentrated on not hitting him.

That gave SuperSwift the chance to mug me as we approached the sharp right and he went on to perform a fairly agricultural pass of Geoffers with a reasonable exchange of paint, door handles and hubcaps.  The technique was not lost on Geoffers as he returned the compliment at Tower on the same lap.

Geoffers set off after John and I was left to find a way past SS, with the Aged Ed in close company.

When SS spun out I was able to have a go at catching John and Geoffers up ahead, who were having a monumental battle from what I could see.

I arrived just too late to give John any assistance as Geoffers made good his escape at the very corner that I came within range.  I concentrated on staying with John without hitting him until he eventually eased away.  This probably gave me a bit of a tow, which helped to put a bit of air between me and the rapidly aging Ed.

Good result for SBRC.

Congratulations to Geoffers and John.

I thought the cars were a good match and well suited for the track.

Clive pretty well summed up the race there.

Got a lousy start, as it seemed did most of the field except John, & got passed by SuperSwift at T2. At Tower SuperSwift braked a bit earlier than I expected & I braked a bit later than I intended which resulted in a bit of a block-pass. Apologies for being a bit forceful SS.

Caught up with John after a couple of laps & we had a great tussle for several laps. The TR was much better in the corners but the Healey had the legs on the straights. Would have liked to have diced a bit longer but Clive was closing in so I had to try & make a break for it. First time it went wrong as I got a bit eager on the throttle at the hairpin & got a bit sideways allowing John back ahead. Second time I got it right & made the pass into the Complex & got far enough ahead that the Healey couldn't repass on the straight.

Managed to ease away & take the win. Smiley

Congrats to John & Clive  clap clap
