Moderator's Report

Goldtop passes Robiker before a tight rh turn. Robiker then hits the rear of Goldtop and spins him. Goldtop has declared that no penalty should be given so we respect his wishes.
Robiker moves away from the incident in order to not block the road (good) but fails to let Goldtop regain the place lost (bad) or take a voluntary drive through (bad).
This time we\'ll let this go with a caution but all drivers are reminded that gentlemen drivers should give back places to victims whenever possible or take a drive through within 3 laps of the incident occurring.

  • robiker (Robert Beck)caution — Causing an incident/failing to let victim pass or perform a drive through
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Yea Legzy that was one fun race till it lasted, great driving mate, I could just stay with you but I didnt think I could overtake you without you making any mistakes:), it was shame that I lost the rear there and I stalled everyone passed me then I found out my tyres were gone I took a gamble went with soft tyres,

great driving again Legzy was a fun one till it lasted

anyone would think the Capri RS held a huge advantage here with 4 out of the top 5 places taken up by them  whistling

Did wonder if all the late race chaos that happened was down to people running out of tyres? Did others risk softs? I was on meds and even they were pretty second hand by race end. Certainly was a lot of spinners in the last third of the race. I even saw Geoffers coming back down the side of a mountain to rejoin the track! Shocked
Sorry to see steady peeps like Goldtop quitting out with only a few laps to go. Dont understand why you quit though for a 'track disgression' with someone up ahead when you still had a top 5 finish on the cards?  Undecided

ps..good turnout again last night with a nice spread of cars, well done to all that finished  Cool

Yup.  That's why I was in it!

Had to give best to John's Escort in qually but made a better start and was pleased to see those behind fighting it out as it gave me the chance to get clear.

Old Legzy claims that John was holding him up but I think that they were really holding each other up.  I looked at the replay and saw that the two of them were side-by-side for half a lap.

I was less worried about my individual prospects once John had spun, as I was able to gradually pull away from Legzy.  I though that he might be on harder tyres and would be giving me some agro in the later stages but he had dropped to about 20 seconds behind by then and I didn't give a monkey's what tyres he had on by then!  Grin

I remembered to put my headlights on, as per John's guidance for being in the lead, but had to turn them off again as they were producing a strange disco effect on some of the walls and track sections.

Main scarey moment cam with two laps to go.  As I approached T2 there were two cars down the escape road and one of them was reversing straight towards me as I entered the braking zone.

As acknowledged at the top, the Capri was the fastest car, in my hands anyway, but it was a bit of a handful in places.  I have done plenty of spins like John managed at the last corner during practice.

It was a great showing by SBRC, only Old Legzy spoiling the party.  Grats to Stig, John and Dan.  I'm sure that I spotted Dan in the top three at one point in the race?

Good recovery from John, as we would expect, and a great drive through from the back row by Stig.  Think you may have to risk qually if you want the top step Stig.   Grin

Thanks to John for his 2:06.1 TT lap.  It was a great help.

Collisions, cock-ups and yet another pc crash for me - not good.. A shame because i was on a similar pace as Ed, MJ and several others, so could have been lots of fun. Ah well.

Congrats podium.

Old Legzy claims that John was holding him up but I think that they were really holding each other up.  I looked at the replay and saw that the two of them were side-by-side for half a lap.

I was never going to keep up with a well driven Capri, but thought I could at least make him work for the pass (and help you get away in the process). Nice driving by the way, Legzy. You'd have got me on the next straight even if I hadn't have spun.

After that spin I had to thrash the engine to get back near the front, which worked, but I then needed to spend a few laps short-shifting near the end and hope that Geoffers didn't catch back up. Tried to push to catch Stig on the last couple of laps and ended up crossing the line with 1% engine health left scared

Good fun though. Grats to Clive on the win thumbup1

It was dodgy team orders I tell you Tongue

Oh my goodness, yeah I totally forgot about that!
I managed to get alongside John & hoped my superior BHP would help me edge ahead. But John’s somewhat superior skill kept us side by side for literally half a lap sweatdrop.
I remember as it was happening, trying to think of the corners ahead, trying to work out which one of us was on the best side of the track to be able to force an advantage... if we could just get a fraction ahead of the other! Really really great stuff (till he was the one who came out on top  Sad Wink ).

Unofficial LapChart

Little door-to-door action but was fun to keep attacking the track.

Congrats to Clive, Legzy and Hotkeys (20 overtakes!)

was much appreciated when you past me.  thumbup1

Disappointing 8th place finish for me after a great fun first half of the race.

Early laps were mega with several cars dicing over what seemed like positions 4 to 10. Alfa struggled a bit for straight line speed but was brilliant on the brakes & lost count of the number of overtakes I managed at the final turn. Got into a great battle for 4th with Dan & Stig's Capris, with Dan & I doing several corners side by side. But Stig decided his Capri could outbrake my Alfa & pushed me off the track. Thanks for waiting though Stig  thumbup1.

Rest of the race went to pieces though. First I got bumped into a spin by a Porsche, then lost it under braking when I locked the rears & finally I thought I had discoed again when everyone suddenly disappeared for several seconds. Pulled off to the side of the track & was just about to quit when everyone came back just as MJ passed me!  Roll Eyes

Congrats to the podium, cya all next time.

You was bumped by me. I was kind a surprised because driving behind all of you seemed that only me was using that line and suddenly you were there attacking that kerb before corner start.
Clearly my mistake - description is not excuse, just what happened from my point of view.
I did pull over and wait, also tried to apologise after race but you wasn`t aware at that moment that it was me who bumped you.

Hard tires didn`t work (again) untill it was to late and I had my share of fun fighting with several drivers but just couldn`t outbrake noone. Only way for decent finish was to not make any mistake and wait for last few laps ... I wish it was 22 or 23 laps race  Grin

Grats to podium.

I admit to beeing too eager, sorry about that Geoffer, but IMHO you did have a chance to avoid it. If you look at this screenshot, you will notice that your wheels are pointing towards my line, even though I'm actually ahead of you at this point.

But I owe a VERY big appology to Dan for pushing him of the track in that same chikane incident. Actually I think you should file a report on me Dan, cause you were in 4 th position at the time.

I would find it OK, if I recieved a penalty or a disqualification for pushing you off like that.

Ha,Ha Grin no worries Stig. Things like that happen when you're having fun on the track. Spend the rest of the race trying to keep Massimogt company who seemed to go round all by himself which couldn't be too much fun I reckonned.
Do want to thank  you and the rest of the guys I had the pleasure of battling with, though. Fantastic fun guys!
As I wrote to the team, the wife insists we go to our seaside hideout for ? weeks/days? so I may have to miss a few races. Will be back though to get even Stig. Lol !

Cheers, Dan

That's the problem I had on lap 1 with another Capri driver. I don't really understand why anyone would think that a Capri can outbrake an Alfa into any corner. It shouldn't even be tried unless the cars are at least side by side (or you know that the guy in front is braking very early.....which I wasn't).

Was having a great battle with Goldtop and trying my best to keep it clean. When he re-passed me, his speed out of the turn was much slower than I expected and I spun him around. At the time, I thought he had half-spun by getting on the gas too hard, so I wasn't sure it was my fault. I waited for him, but when he pulled around behind me I went ahead to keep from blocking the track. I was going to let him back by, but after a few turns I didn't see him in my mirror. Sorry for spoiling your race, Goldtop. I'll try to be more careful in the future.
