Moderator's Report

Once again no reported incidents for the GT/Can Am series. I just need to check my database to be sure no-one has used a car more than once. But of course I trust all of you to follow the rules.

Staying in France for the Can Am round of this series after the long Easter break and still at Albi.

The power of the Can Ams will present a different challenge to that of the GT's around this track, most probably in the braking department at the end of the two long straights and getting all that horsepower onto the road out of the slower corners.  Remember that you have to use a new car for each race Wink

The rules are simple….

You have a free choice of car for every race, BUT you cannot drive the same car twice. So if you take part in every round you will drive 5 different GT cars and 5 different Can Am cars.

You are allowed a single Shift-R  followed by a Stop’n’Go  which must be taken  within 1 lap.

All starts will be from a loose staggered  grid. There will be NO rolling starts this season, so please be careful .

"Please ensure you are aware of the in-series penalty rules. Details are here. Drivers incurring a penalty will receive a PM informing them of this."

I managed 15 minutes practice in these Can Ams around Albi last night, expecting lap times similar to the GT's.

Wow!! was I wrong   Shocked Shocked   lol  even with a dodgy setup these cars are a bit quick.

In hindsight maybe I should have made the race more than 40 laps, but we will stick with it for this race and I will consider adding a few laps for future races.

Should be a very interesting race.  Wink

Unfortunately that means they stuff themseleves in the hay bales further for me....

I am away this Friday so I can't join in the fun. Enjoy it and I'll sort out the replay on Sunday.

I couldn t get my qual right had loads of sub 1.05 in practice but I guess I stressed. The race started exciting with Sergio being a bit unstable in t1 and I almost went wide after the straight. Thx to a very awake and nice teammate Al behind me I could keep on without loosing my position Then in lap 2 most of the leaders were spread all over in t1 and I could try to chase 1 st spot. Got a nice comfortable race pace but just could not keep up with Dean who was flying. Gz Dean. Myself very happy with my 2 nd.

 Smiley Wink
Yeah  Dean  was flying, amazing simply. WD !!! looks more then a high speed train at work, then an heavy weight CanAm race car.
Congratulations as well to Kinghiro and Al !

Wasn’t even sure if I would make these race, was so tired to the bones due to real work.
Well but over the time ( half race ) I found back my racing spirit. Wasn’t fast but enjoyed to work these Shadow through the circuit. Unfortunately I did run out of fuel with 2laps to go.
Lost P5 ended P8.
No idea why my fuel calculation was wrong this time ….as usual it was based on 12 laps race consumption..

Grats to Dean and the podium boys.

I was still developing my setup through qually and discovering ways to make these Can-Ams go quicker as I have not had a great deal of experience in these beasts, and when I have tried them the race has usually ended early with a disco!!

I was pleased that even with race fuel I was near the front of the grid in the early laps, but other drivers started posting faster times and I slid down the grid to about 8th...............I decided that was low enough to warrant a lap or two with reduced fuel to try and get nearer the front.

The difference between race fuel that I had been running and just enough for 4-5 laps was a real shock and I clipped about 2 secs of my previous best and found myself on pole Shocked just beating Dean.
I got a good start, but was very aware of how fast Dean could be in that Mclaren, so I pushed hard on the first lap to try and build a small buffer.
The only problem with that was at the start of Lap 2 I pushed too a little too enthusiastically hard on the brakes entering T1 and my office chair shot back 150mm with predictable results LOL and I found myself being pummelled on the grass as the whole field went past. I needed a Shift-R to recover so that meant a SnG at the pits so I was going to have to battle for any points from here Embarrassed
The rest of the race was a battle with Sergio who defended every corner and frustrated my attempts to get past. I was definitely faster but just could not make any move stick!! Undecided. Great dice Sergio Shocked)
We passed a couple of cars as our battle went on and we caught poor Nicki who was running out of fuel on the last lap.

For me it was still a victory because I did not disco and I learned an awful lot about the handling of these monsters and how they can eat tyres if you push too hard...which I did frequently during the race lol.

Hope everyone else enjoyed the race as much as I did.  Grin Grin

Way to go Dean !!!
But...almost 1.5 secs * lap are a little to much for me and... we have had the same car  Roll Eyes Tongue
Unfortunately the 2nd lap has been fatal for most of us so practically I've restarted from the back of the field since 2nd lap.
I was expecting a boring race in the back of the field, instead Clive kept active my attention for 38 laps and I can say it has been a very good race. I practically haven't made any mistake so I'm a lill sad because I could have got a better place under the chequered flag because I was in 5th place just for a couple of secs.
I have to give my apologies to Clive because we had a little contact at last corner at few laps to go and he had the worst but I did not expect that he could pass me right in that corner. I expect a contact much before but Clive managed his car very nicely to avoid any contact. Wow he was 15 kph faster than me along the stright and...not only there.

Clive...it seems you had the wall behind your office chair otherwise we would have found you at the seaside.  Grin
Normally when under attack...the defender and the attacker slow down one the other but in our case me and Clive were faster than the guys in front of us !!!  Tongue Smiley If we would not have had any collision, probably we could have reach the 4th place as well.

Very frustrating race. Had the car, speed and setup to challenge for the win but ended up getting involved in other peoples incidents. Failed to avoid the unfortunate Clive completely on Lap 2, sorry. Then several laps later was caught out by a car taking a very wide line which resulted in me making a hash of the next corner. Quitting in didgust at my bad luck I decided sleep was a better bet than a shift-r.

Grats to Dean, Kinghiro, Al and everyone else who finished. See you all at the next round.
