Moderator's Report

Oulton is a pretty tough circuit for the Novices but we learnt a lot I think and I certainly enjoyed it.

Server replay time: 0h00m23s

Blito is following Billy and Billy\'s car suddenly swerves off. Blito did not get too close and although there is no obvious warp, the most likely explanation is a slight mis-calculation by GPL itself. Neither driver did anything wrong.

Server replay time: 0h01m01s

Clearest example of warp I have ever seen - Boggy literally appears in the same spot as Johnny P. Unlucky. Boggy clearly has a slow connection and needs to be careful of getting too close to other drivers at the start when warp is most likely.

Unfortunately Boggy has let the red mist descend and does not take his Stop n Go in a timely manner, so although the incident is unpenalised he gets a punishment for not taking his Stop n Go within the required window.

Drivers are reminded that they MUST take a Stop n Go within two laps of any incident requiring a reset. (c.f. Sporting Regulations)

Server replay time: 0h01m07s

Billy has slowed as he passes the incident and Dave taps him from behind. Having slowed earlier Dave needed to be ready to stop as Phillipe is behind him. Unfortunately for Phillipe, Paul V is not too alert and rear ends the unfortunate Frenchman. This is a typical Novice mistake and part of the online racing learning process.

At the start through the first few corners you can not, in general, be leaden footed on the accelerator. Crashes are most likely through the first few corners and are almost always in the midfield. It is an art to get all the cars safely through.

Server replay time: 0h06m08s

Gio rejoins and overcooks it as he comes off the grass. He needed to be more careful because the slope of the grass pushes the car left and straight into Blito\'s path. Jason does well to avoid Gio.

The rules have this \"The rejoining driver was NOT in full control but drove straight back onto the track without leaving enough room for other cars. Contact was NOT made but other drivers had to take avoiding action.\"

Server replay time: 0h09m03s

Gio\'s battle royal with Blito ends in tears as he rear ends JB. He left the braking way too late and was doing 107mph as he enters the corner. Slightly faster than the previous lap when he didn\'t make it either. Careless.

The rules have this: \"The victim made no mistakes and was driving their normal line at normal speed. The shunter made no allowance for the victim whatsoever. The shunter was in full control.\"

Server replay time: 0h09m03s

Fabio loses it at Clay Hill and is stranded on the right. Billy comes to commiserate and they have a smashing time... Not reported but funny. At the same time Bernie moves through Druids and passes the sad remains of Gio\'s car - take a look, it will make you smile.

Quite confused with race result as I disco'd with I think 6 laps to go ,well after several others had dropped out but see that result says I didn't start???

I'll look and correct that - I saw that the server had 'lost you'.

My best drive ever. Was front row until the last seconds and saw that Giovani had pipped me for second. Wasn't too unhappy as it meant I had a better line to T1. Rog got past me off the line which was a problem as I knew he braked earlier than me and had the gearing to get away. Andy got away and Gio, Rog and I settled down to some nose to tail. Gio kept going wide and finally he overdid it at T2 and we both nipped past. I had been a bit worried about Jason but he had dropped back and the three of us were clear. Andy 400 yds up the road and me and Rog with 2yds in it. I spent several laps testing him out and when I felt I had found the place I was faster (right hander at the end of the long back straight) I concentrated on putting some pressure on. Nothing doing for several laps but then Rog went wide and I was through. I felt I was a bit faster and opened up a bit of a gap and then concentrated on being tidy if not super quick. Unfortunately for me the Honda engine gave out and although I tried thumbing a lift, Rog was having none of it. I had plenty of room from Dave to take my stop and then I concentrated on some quick laps to get the gap down. Unfortunately my accuracy deserted me and I was a bit slower. The gap stayed the same. Then I tried just a bit too hard and span at the first hairpin. Still had plenty of time on Dave so I just concentrated on bringing it home. Last lap was a 1:42 I think.

Pleased with 3rd, could have been better. Fantastic race with Rog. Next time I won't let him have the Honda.... Wink

WD to Andy as well, class mate.

Driving the Cooper for the first time, and having had very little practice on the circuit (though I new the basic layout), I figured that starting at the back might be a safe option for this one, and try to get a steady result.

T1 seemed to be ok, but there was something on the hill down to T2 which needed careful negotiating.  Did that, and ran steady for a lap or so with, a few more cars having spins etc in the early laps.

Once thing had settles, I was in P6, and stayed there to the flag.  Didn't have the pace to catch the guys ahead, and although the cap was usually between 7 and 10secs, I was constantly aware of the 3 faster guys behind, but luckily, the fact that they were dicing, and losing time every now and then, enabled me to keep a safe distance ahead.  My best lap being a 1m41.9s, compared to 1m39's and 1m40's behind me.

So P6 was all in all a decent result, having started at the back.  Well done to the guys ahead for the great pace.  Moved down 1 place in the Champ table, though with the 2 results dropped rule, Andy's win puts him back into contention for the championship race.

Being 3rd in the table, I'm not sure if I'll get back into my BRM for Mosport.  Though the Cooper was ok to drive.

Started 9th finished 9th , not much more to say except the bit in between was crappy (more crashy than crappy )

Lapped again  Embarrassed   And on a track that I call Home felt like a real kick in the teeth somehow . beginning to think there's something wrong in the system , maybe my hardware's getting soft  Undecided

Grats to the podium and all who finished , commiserations if you didn't   Smiley

Very strange race for me..

I had never raced here before, but I had checked all the info on the race info page prior to the race.

I realised there is more than one Oulton park version so after seeing the link on the race page showed it to be Oulton V2 I was set for a bit of practice.  only had one day to try to sort out the setup and learn the place.  gave it a go and was quite happy with the setup although the track had a superb layout and a good feel i was struggling to learn my way around. this is usual for me and i seem to learn faster at pre race praccy or in the race itself.

running solo I seem to only be able to get a decent setup but dont get a true feel for the track.

anyhow, was I suprised when on race night I appeared at a track i had never seen before... This was not the Oulton I had been to or the one I was expecting.. first clue was when i wouldnt find my setup, GPL then asked me if I would like to "copy" it to Oulton??  OOPSS , there was me thinking thats where I was at this present time?

Anyhow gave it a go and got a typical lowish time in praccy, but thats OK.. had a bit of trouble very Early on where I ran into Phillipe  Sad , after that although conn was a bit laggy and prib had thrown a wobbler I had a blast.  had some real fun racing with 3 or 4 others and in the end dipped into the .39's . actually made it to the finish and fell in love with the track.. such a great track to race on.  the 65 F1s feeling good for the first time.

congrats to all the finishers and podium boys...  hope the race wasnt too bad for any others.

Cheers, Paul V.

after the one initial prob on lap one seemed to learn the place quickly and i had some good racing

Hats off to all you guys.

Waiting for the Pro race to start last night I popped into your practice server for a spin and promptly left when I saw how fast you were all going. I did not want to get in the way. My best here in a 65 car is around 1.40.5 in a BT11.

Looking at everyones race times from last night I'm glad I was at Rouen instead!!!

Grats to Andy on win.
Good race for me, 4th on grid, had great start passed Badblood to go 3rd, then concentrated to keep up with Andy and Giovani and keep Badblood behind me, lap 4 Giovani went out on the grass at Cascades, which let me me pass up to 2nd, Andy was starting to pull a gap and Badblood was starting to put on more pressure, lap 10 went out on grass at Knicker Brook and Badblood went pass, now had prob trying to keep up with Badblood, he was starting to open up a good lead, lucky for me he had engine blow going up to Hilltop on lap 16 and handed me 2nd, no way could i lower the gap to catch Andy and in the final laps had to nurse my engine. Great racing with you Badblood and thanks for being patient to pass, you had the right strategy just unlucky with engine.

Hi Paul
Can't find in the rules where it states a stop and go must be taken within 2 laps of incident, could you point me in right direction please

Cheers
