Moderator's Report

Oulton is a pretty tough circuit for the Novices but we learnt a lot I think and I certainly enjoyed it.

Server replay time: 0h00m23s

Blito is following Billy and Billy\'s car suddenly swerves off. Blito did not get too close and although there is no obvious warp, the most likely explanation is a slight mis-calculation by GPL itself. Neither driver did anything wrong.

Server replay time: 0h01m01s

Clearest example of warp I have ever seen - Boggy literally appears in the same spot as Johnny P. Unlucky. Boggy clearly has a slow connection and needs to be careful of getting too close to other drivers at the start when warp is most likely.

Unfortunately Boggy has let the red mist descend and does not take his Stop n Go in a timely manner, so although the incident is unpenalised he gets a punishment for not taking his Stop n Go within the required window.

Drivers are reminded that they MUST take a Stop n Go within two laps of any incident requiring a reset. (c.f. Sporting Regulations)

Server replay time: 0h01m07s

Billy has slowed as he passes the incident and Dave taps him from behind. Having slowed earlier Dave needed to be ready to stop as Phillipe is behind him. Unfortunately for Phillipe, Paul V is not too alert and rear ends the unfortunate Frenchman. This is a typical Novice mistake and part of the online racing learning process.

At the start through the first few corners you can not, in general, be leaden footed on the accelerator. Crashes are most likely through the first few corners and are almost always in the midfield. It is an art to get all the cars safely through.

Server replay time: 0h06m08s

Gio rejoins and overcooks it as he comes off the grass. He needed to be more careful because the slope of the grass pushes the car left and straight into Blito\'s path. Jason does well to avoid Gio.

The rules have this \"The rejoining driver was NOT in full control but drove straight back onto the track without leaving enough room for other cars. Contact was NOT made but other drivers had to take avoiding action.\"

Server replay time: 0h09m03s

Gio\'s battle royal with Blito ends in tears as he rear ends JB. He left the braking way too late and was doing 107mph as he enters the corner. Slightly faster than the previous lap when he didn\'t make it either. Careless.

The rules have this: \"The victim made no mistakes and was driving their normal line at normal speed. The shunter made no allowance for the victim whatsoever. The shunter was in full control.\"

Server replay time: 0h09m03s

Fabio loses it at Clay Hill and is stranded on the right. Billy comes to commiserate and they have a smashing time... Not reported but funny. At the same time Bernie moves through Druids and passes the sad remains of Gio\'s car - take a look, it will make you smile.

UKGPL Season 24 65 Novices Trophy
Race 6 Oulton Park

APOLOGIES THAT THE MODDING HAS NOT BEEN DONE. This will be completed by Round 7.

Welcome to the resumption of the Novices Trophy for Season 24. This is the sixth round of 10

Back to the UK and a testing circuit with drafting opportunities and some passing places but beware - this track can seriously catch you out with its mixture of long corners, adverse cambers and sudden changes of elevation.

As always patience is ESSENTIAL. The first lap will be fully moderated within the red zone. The red zone will be the ENTIRE first lap. In particular, be careful into T1 and into the hairpin the first time.

Please check the Season 24 pages for details regarding rules and the Novices Trophy pages in particular.

HANDICAPPING will be applied to any drivers in the top three who are within 20 points of the leader. Shouldn't actually make much difference here.

Johnny P is limited to the BT7
Ross Hawkey has the choice of BT7 or Cooper
RogUK is asked to limit himself to the BT7, Cooper or Honda

Qualifying may start before 9pm, if so, Reserve drivers should leave the server when 35 minutes of qualifying remains and only rejoin when 30 minutes of qualifying is left. This is to ensure that Full Time drivers get priority in joining.

Please restrict chat to pit messages if necessary, and this includes the end of the race, until all running drivers have completed the necessary laps.

The Novice races are run under Int Long rules and all incidents in the red zone on Lap 1, at least, will be moderated. For this race, the red zone extends to the whole of Lap 1. There is no limit on the amount of resets but EACH Shift/R MUST be followed by a Stop n Go.

65 Patch: The 2.02 Release of the 65mod can and should be used. You need a working installation of the 65 mod to install the 2.02 Update. All the 65 Mod files can be found here

I went to Oulton park a few years ago to watch some historic's racing and its a great circuit. This is my first time at Oulton in a Gpl car and it's already one of my favourites- good track choice. Smiley

I stopped the league 65. I do not understand why when there is an accident ahead, I slowed to pass, but not the drivers behind me. It's always like that in mod 65.
Good luck to all for the future, this mod is not for me, sorry

Hi Phillipe,

I think it may have been me that hit you from behind.  I could see there was trouble but I could not really see what was happening.

I did and always try to approach the start of any race with caution.

I will check the replay when i can and will report the incident.

i slowed right down as fast and safely as i could and i hit someone right in the gearbox..  I think it was you. REALLY SORRY.

the mods can sort it, but please dont give up on GPL, UKGPL or the 65.s or the rest of us. OK!

it will be fun, and enough fun at a race soon to be worth it.

My race was wrecked on lap one when I was hit from behind between turns 1 and 2. I carried on with my stop and go and eventually came across blito with whom I did a rediculous overtake attempt and was duly awarded a trip into the scenery- thankfully Jason was unharmed. Well done to the podium but one to forget for me.

A bit rusty - not having driven for 3 weeks.
Knickerbrook (an aptly named corner) casued me the most problems. Ran into the back of Fabio early on - after he missed the same corner & then went completely sideways in front of Paul V on lap 21. Seemed about time to quit rather that.
Had a few good midfield batlles & pleased to nail the elusive 1.39.
Aiming for a bit more consistency next time.
