Think I'm in big trouble here.

Even Legzy is going to be quicker and, like John, no time to cook up a BMW setup.

I have been practicing with a 1976 RSR, but I am going to try out the 1975 RSR in my next practice. My lap time is a bit off pace (1:39 personal best).

Yep, the RSR is hard work here. My legal pb is a low 36, but doing that in race will be very high risk as there is so much time to be lost by running off wide or risking the cut police at that horrible chicane......I for one will be keeping my eyes peeled for that one  Wink

Concentration is definitely required at this track, and trying to be smooth through the corners (as opposed to trying to cut them as tightly as possible) is the better option. I do not particularly enjoy driving any of these cars, so it will probably have to be a BMW for me. I reckon I should be able to cook up some pace in it, but I prefer driving that nice GT40 Grin

Sorry guys, I don't know what went wrong on my first lap but I went off twice, the second time taking people with me. I deliberately ran on race fuel and hard tyres towards the end of qualifying to get a feel for how things would be at the start of the race, but still managed to lose it at turn 2 and at the second chicane. Sorry to those who did not find a way past my sideways car.  Sad

At least you won't have to suffer my company next week as I will again be out of the country.

Found some extra pace in the race for no apparent reason & very happy with 5th, though glad to see the back of both this track & those cars.

Now that`s conspiracy!

Two Team Oldie members out!

Just when I thought that I had connection issue it seems that everybody run in stealth mode ... in a race where I had chances for win.
At least Legzy went well.

whoohooo 6th !  Grin  very pleased with that as expected to be well done the running order against the BMW's and 3.1 Capris tonight.

Qualied 10th with a late 36 time. Made up a couple of places on the start, through all the lit up tyre smoke!  Shocked and was then surprised to see that me and Nik in RSR's were able to stay with and harass a gaggle of BMWs for several laps.
Nik and Clive then tangled ahead of me and i found myself 5th  Smiley
Kept there until about lap 11 when Legz caught me in his 'faster' car  Wink but then when trying to chase him back i overdrove and had a silly small spin at a corner ive never spun before  Roll Eyes and Geoffers got a very easy pass!
After Johns demise i was Now 6th again and stayed there until the end. Nearly caught Legzy again when he had an off and was hoping to really put the pressure on him for last 2-3 laps but again i overdrove and had another silly spin...grrr.

Very challenging track this one, hardly any letup and it was a tough 26 laps in the RSR, so rewarding to finish as high as i did  Smiley

Congrats to Mogget and podium  Cool

Bad luck to those that had connection problems again  Sad

Well that was all going to plan... Make a good start into P1 - Check. Drive the wheels off it and build a gap while the big stuff squabbles behind - Check. Try and stay ahead until end of race - Nope Angry Killed the engine on an over-aggressive downshift while trying to stay ahead of Mogget. Damn.

I think I did that last time I was in a Porsche here as well. I should probably learn from that.

Congrats Mogget! Well done.

I had a regrettable spin and found myself backwards in the middle of the track scared. I really am sorry to the driver that could not avoid me. I will check replay to find out who you are so that I can make a better apology.  oops

I enjoyed the rest of the race. I felt like a spectator once the leaders came around to lap me. My car actually started driving better towards the end of the race.

Fun event, Thanks to all!

-Walter

EDIT: I watched the replay, and I am sad to report that it was Les Neilson that received damage from my mistake. Sorry Les, I wish that it was my car that was damaged and not yours.

Nice race that  Cool Always a challenge trying to find a way around the beemers in the corners and never quite managed it tonight when it mattered.

Decided to start from the back as those first few turns looked a bit dodgy. Was soon having a good battle with Matt, but rushed my moves a bit and made some silly mistakes. Clawed my way back and had a long battle with Clive, but again couldn't quite squeeze past him cleanly in the twisties and was always outgunned on the straights.

Congrats to Mogget for the win and some good pace from others up front.

That was a very satisfying drive for me, and my first significant win for quite some time. A poor start dropped me down to P6 from P3 on the grid, but a couple of BMWs hit the dirt not long after the start. That left me looking for a way past Alessandro's Porsche. I managed that, and then quickly started hassling Geoffers for the second week in succession Smiley He just clipped the kerb at one of the tight left handers after a lap or so, and I was able to move past him into second place. That left me with the rather difficult task of trying to catch John! I managed to keep pace with him for many laps, and then very slowly I started to reel him in. It was hard work, and I needed to be very consistent to do it, but he was almost within striking distance when he spun off just after the "triple". I was expecting him to recover quickly, but I never saw him again. It was only after the race finished that I discovered that he had blown his engine Sad

At that point, I realised that I had a great chance of winning the race. In fact, I eased off slightly over the last few laps, just to make sure that I didn't make any daft mistakes.

It's been a while, but I am happy to be on the top step of the podium again Cool

A few things I forgot to say:

1) Well done to Alessandro for doing what I couldn't and getting the Porsche on the Podium thumbup1

2) After my unfortunate demise, I spent the rest of the race watching Goldtop trying to figure out a way past Clive. I know from experience that trying to get past a BMW in a Porsche is an exercise in futility Wink

3) From watching the above I just have one other thing to say... Apexes, Clive! Apexes! Grin
