Moderator's Report

Terrific carnage, 2 turns after the start ...
All cars, except the leader\'s car (Hristo\'s Brabham), were more or less impacted.
Two drivers could not survive (hopefully only the cars) : Attilio and me.

It\'s terrible ...but after reviewing the replay, I could not find any responsibility.
Tristan cleanly overtook Attilio who was going wide, and Tristan had almost 100% complete his overtake when there was a huge warp on Attilio\'s car.
Attilio was going from right to the left when the warp occured but there was enough room for one car between Tristan and Attilio !

All the other incidents were tragic conséquences of it.

I could just remember to end of grid\'s drivers to be more cautious and keep their distances until end of red zone.

Season 24 Historic Trophy (66) - Round 7 - Solitude
The Solituderennen events and the 11.4 km Solitudering near Stuttgart were named after the nearby Castle Solitude. Motorsports events were held there from 1903 to 1965.  Due to the narrow track, initially mainly motorcycle events were held there until 1956. The track and the pits were widened in early 1957 and sports car racing was staged by the automobile club ADAC.  From 1961 to 1964, non-Championship Formula One Grand Prix races were also held, in addition to previous Formula 2 and Formula Junior events. The last "Grand Prix of Solitude" with F1 cars was held in July 1964, including drivers like Jim Cark, Jack Brabham, Graham Hill, Chris Amon, John Surtees. In 1965 the last "Solituderennen" on the Solitude track was an F2 race, won by Chris Amon.

The race will be run under PRO rules so no resets are allowed.
There will be full moderation of lap one Red Zone and reported incidents for the rest of the race.
Please submit incident reports within a week after the race so that the moderators report may be out before the next race.
Full time drivers have priority access to the server until 21.00 UK time.
Please restrict your chat to a minimum!

For THIS RACE, 2 liters car must be selected

Al HELLER will be restricted to Group I cars
Andreas Gebhardt and Hristo Itchov will be restricted to Group I and II cars

all other drivers have free choice.

Ok guys, this was my last race in historics and 69x in this league, I might finish this season's works if I can be arsed, but frankly I don't see that happening atm. I know this time there was massive warp involved, but it is unbelievable that each and every race you start in these two divisions you have to win the lottery of T1`first of all. These things don't happen in works, it means it is possible to avoid them. I am sorry to say this, but I think this is down to poor direction of the league (Paul), a complacency toward the most stupid and careless behaviours on the track which simply smacks of cowardice.

Yeah, I noticed the carnage in my mirrors. Some people just refuse to learn you can't win the race at T1 or T2 or Lap 1, yet they do the same thing almost every single time. And then those are the guys who argue with me when I'm angry about an accident, saying that a "sorry" is all that is required and that we're doing this for "fun". I see no fun in this, only an idiot would see it like that. At least when I was responsible for an incident I never excused myself with it being for fun...

Art, you should just keep on sending incident reports and the supposedly more severe penalty system should take care of the repeated offenders. Would be a shame to see a direct competitor as yourself stop participating in this and 69x divisions, which are probably my favorite.

As for my race, it's not called Solitude by chance, lol. After managing a rather on-the-edge lap in the dying moments of Q to take the pole, I was taking it easy early on but noticed that I was slower through the corners compared to the cars behind me, so I had to push quite hard after half a lap. Then the cars behind me lost some ground and that distracted me enough to forget to brake down to 2nd instead of 3rd for a left-hander. I guess I couldn't bear the solitude of racing alone...

After that, I was running with one cylinder less or so it seemed like. My top speed was down by 30 km/h and my acceleration was weaker. Still, I kept pushing and managed to maintain 4th place for a few laps, but then finally binned it, because I had to risk in every corner to compensate for my low straightline speed.

After dashing home 120 mile trip , gorging me tea down , finding I didnt have the track installed , no set up , then the "Race "

I didnt even crash , just stopped to avoid T boning a red thing which suddenly appeared across my bows , waited for the dust to settle , drove off and ............ sick engine , very , very, sick engine .

Trundled around for a bit wandering if it was worthwhile continuing at a snails pace

Then the climax came and went

No apology coming from me as I was not involved in the slightest. BUT, I do hope that anyone who is culpable for the carnage is man enough to say sorry.

Hope you stick it out Attilio it would be a shame to lose you.

Hmmm . . . .  I seem to be everyone's favorite driver this week!  I took a nice steady outside line through the initial left handers, and attempted to pass no-one.  The limited bandwidth prevented my seeing the accidents cause, but your Brabham suddenly swerved right across my bow, to avoid the action ahead.  You're welcome David - Bernie straightened my red thing out.

I'll look at the Server replay, to see if I missed something.

What specifically Art? I am not aware that I have been complacent but I am aware that the moderations are massively behind because I have been ill. I have not had the time to devote to catching up on this (I have just returned to work after six weeks away) but if it is the moderations you are referring to, mea culpa. If it is the attitude to stupid, reckless driving, I don't have any patience with that.

Aside from that, we have too many series and not enough moderators and those that we have are, frankly, not enjoying it.

well, I have look the reaplay around 50 times under every angles, I don't know if Arti. speak about me for the incident of the turn 2 of lap 1, but I am for nothing in what's append ,( and I don't want to win the race at turn one or two ).......I take a very good start, and Arti not, so I just felow H. , then in T1 ,Arti spinn a little , but enought to loose his 2nd place..... I am in the inside of T2 and ( very inside ), I let plenty room on the outside......Arti. is on my side but behind me...there is more than one meter betwin the 2 cars , and there is ( on my reaplay ) absolutly no contact but apparently a big lag ( I feel absolutly nothing in my car ! ).....then Arti's car take a angle of nearly 90° on the right , and straight out of track ?!.....so , I make absolutly no fault, and my drive was safe, I don't force the way, I just take a oportunity after a mistake of my oponant, this is racing  no!?.....the rest don't belong to me, because anyway I was ahead , and with doing nothing spécial exept a good start........

....after ,H. missing a break point I was leading confortably, but still concentrate cause I had many lags and FPS loosing during all the race....first win in 66 this season, .......happy !

....hope to see everybody in Dijon......bye

Tristan, Attilio and Martin
the moderators will try to objectively determine the responsibles of the carnage at the start.
Please write your incident reports.

Attilio
I really do not understand what you mean with " this is down to poor direction of the league ". Could you please explain and give some examples ?

Ok Paul, I missed the info of your illness, my apologies for that final remark, it wasn't clever anyway.

Yes, I am firstly referring to the lack of moderation in 69x, which is badly needed even in light of the last race we had at Sebring, where of course exactly the same people drove in exactly the same way as before. In answer to Dave, this last point, compounded with certain choices (crashing the servers during qually or silly point system that rewards people just for taking part, spring to mind), and especially with the mysterious disappearance of the in-series penalties (notwithstanding specific references in some other posts of mine), give me the clear impression that moderating staff is overly concerned with keeping the numbers up, even at the price of compromising the more planned and thoughtful (but ultimately, do trust me, more fun) racing of a part of the drivers.

Tristan, my start was just fine, I didn't half spin at T1, I just left extra room while going as quick as possible, all to avoid the dreaded divers. You chose to take advantage of that and try to force the pass at T2, which is a very tight 90 degree corner. You left room, I left room, but there was big lag and we crashed. But for that, we would have made it through, somehow. Neither of us did anything substantially wrong there, it was quite unlucky. However, the problem, as it is usually the case, is that if you leave things to sort themselves 'somehow', all you need is a bit of bad luck, like a wobble or some lag, to crash and take with you half the field behind. We had 3 T1 crashes out of 6 races here, similar numbers in 69x if not worse, I have seen none of them in Works. It can not be a coincidence, people are just too racey from the get going in these divisions, whilst surviving the first corners should still be the first priority. This is not racing, this is online racing, and should be handled accordingly.

I am well aware of the need for moderation in the 69X and other series. My apologies but I haven't been up to it. I will attempt to catch up and there will be some big stick unfortunately...
