Cookie is a little out of shape but does nothing wrong. Sky is perhaps caught out a little & tries desperately to keep to the inside but clips Cookie from behind. As ever drivers need to be cautious on lap 1. This is rear end contact but the penalty is mitigated to 1 place.

Server replay time: 0h01m15s

Into T3 Ronnie has the lead - Dean Logan has a run up the inside but he should have conceded the corner.

Server replay time: 0h01m20s

Phil does his best to avoid the earlier incident but spins across the track leaving Sky nowhere to go then Arf hits Phil.

Server replay time: 0h01m28s

A poor rejoin by Arf takes out Tristan. Arf is not well sighted but he could have taken more care.

THIS POST IS FOR THE LIGHT & HEAVY RACES

Round VII of the Formula 2 Trophy will take place in Sebring Raceway, Florida, USA. Sebring circuit came into existence in 1941 as a US Army Air Forces training base. It is one of the oldest circuits in USA is the venue for the historical and very famous for ‘The Hours of Sebring’, an annual motorsport endurance race. After hosting the US GP in 1959, Sebring lost its place on the F1 circuit to Riverside

The series will run on two separate grids ~ The Lights will run on T7 & the Heavys on UKGPL 3. Please ensure you join the correct race. The Driver list is shown below & the Championship Table can be found here F2 Trophy

Handicaps will apply – please observe this rule as a failure to take the correct car will result in an exclusion.
In the Lights Dean Logan – Group II (BT14, Ferrari or Cooper). Magic Arsouille & Evil Clive Group III – any of the Group II cars or either Lola or either Lotus.
In the Heavys – Rainier – Group II, RogUK & Ed76 – Group III.

A maximum of one reset is allowed per race & must be followed by a compulsory Stop & Go in the pit lane. If you Reset on the last lap a 30 second time penalty will be awarded.
Incidents should be reported in the usual way.
In line with other divisions the races will be subject to full moderation in the red zone which will be to the exit of the  Wbster Turn. The Moderator may chose to investigate any other incident, in addition to reported incidents & red zone incidents.

Please note that for UKGPL has introduced a system of penalties within each series for drivers accumulating yellow cards – see here
Penalty Points. Drivers incurring these penalties will receive a PM advising when a penalty has been applied & what race it should served.

A few days ago I looked at this announcement and thought "What a dreadful choice of track, I really don't want to do that", but this afternoon i really fancied a game of GPL so I reinstalled the track ready for tonight. During qually I was competitive but found myself thinking "what a dreadful choice of track, this is gonna end in tears".
Midway through lap two it ended in tears.
A dreadful choice of track Sad

Can't agree with Mr B about the track - couldn't remember the track at all so joining qually with three minutes to go wasn't ideal BUT first lap was quite close with lots of brake testing. Then I span and started to work my way up from the back. Nigel rejoined in front of me and I was competitive with him but blew my engine just as I caught 'Shinji'. Blast. Started again and had just set my first sector fastest time when BANG. End of race. Reset but thought it was one reset so did a couple of corners and retired.

Reason I disagree with Jason is that some of these corners are great if you nail them. The chicanes especially. Fun while it lasted.

I agree Jason - I really couldn't get into this track, didn't really enjoy it at all.

There was an awful lot of chatter tonight - really impolite and totally against the rules. I don't care how angry or sorry you are with someone else - SHUT UP. Write it in the forum afterwards. And keep shut up until everyone has finished the race/qually too!

Apologies if I posted chat at the end of the race whilst you were still running Arf3. I did a quick check of prib and thought everyone had crossed line or retired it appears I was wrong.  Sad

As for chat DURING race, not guilty and definitely not acceptable. nono

Indistinct braking points, roadside objects that push crashing cars back into the racing groove, wide open spaces that give no feeling of speed..... very poor choice of track for an online race.

Can't say I really like the track (too flat for me) but it wasn't too bad and should have been good for slipstreaming if I'd had a chance.  Jason does have a point about the bollards and bales, they do prevent an out of control car from gently sliding off the track and out of the way.  Perhaps it would be better to have a slippery surface off the racing line and ghost bollards (i.e. ones you can drive through with impunity) instead of solid ones.  But it is a faithful reproduction and a rock solid well engineered track so we can't complain too much.

As expected I qualified at the back.  I managed to avoid a few spinning cars at T1 and T2 but at T3 I got distracted by a spinning car ahead and I dutifully spun too.  Got collected by Sky and Arf (not much they could do about it) and I had to reset.  I had to wait until the entire field had passed before I could respawn and when I did everyone had gone and I had no chance of a slipstream.  After my stop and go the pack were over a mile ahead and I had no chance of catching them.  Picked up a couple of places as people dropped out but the only person I had a race with (on the very last lap) was Dean who must have reset and had to do a S&G.  Managed to get past on the run down to the last corner and just held on over the line.

The competition is really tough in the Lights and I'm finding it hard to compete but I have to say Billy has got the split absolutely spot on.  The slowest time in the Lights (i.e. mine) is almost exactly the same as the fastest time in the Heavies.

Well,  lucky to get away with this one...

Just did not get around to any kind of practice prior to the event,  although I at least seemed to have installed the track at some point in the past.   Luckily, the car choice was made in advance & no need for any car setup in this class (from my point of view anyway!).

Then,  it turned out that my 1st (out) lap was my fastest of the few that I managed to get in during qually/practice session.   Thank goodness for the signposts - I was making use of them throughout the race!

Made some progress, then a couple of offs undid the initial gains.  However,  I think I was rather fortunate to make further progress due to misfortune of others.   Once things settled out was surprised to have then been gaining on the likes of Bernie,  again - slipped past due to misfortune elsewhere.

So, in all - lucky.   I also found it rather bland driving-wise,  or maybe it was my bland driving & difficult at times to actually see what's coming up.  But that may just be airfield tracks generally - with their wide open space / lack of natural reference points.

Anyway,  not bad team points in the end  - provisionally at least.

Cheers all.
Dave.

not a good one for me either.. again never had time to practice for an unknown to me track,

hoped to learn it a little through the practice session last night but it isnt an easy one to learn.. well not for me its not.

just not enough landmarks etc.  I see others have said about it being flat and featureless, I agree fully with that and i guess as Dave C says thats pretty usual for airfield tracks.

I do though think it would make a great track to race on once its better known.  some of the corners and the esses/chichane bits are excellent.

I was relying totally on the corner boards and the brake markers, they helped me a lot but hopefully someone may do a graphics update sometime and add some extra trackside objects.  maybe not historically correct, but would help this track in my opinion.

did a few scrappy laps and ended up late braking into a hay bale.  couldnt reverse of it so decided I was less of a danger to others if I called it a night.

hope the race went fine after all, congrats to all finishers and podium places.
