(...) spin on the first lap, and I quickly pressed ESC to avoid causing a disaster Sad

I saw that from right behind you, and was glad you suddenly vanished - thanks!

Otherwise, a boring race. I qualified fifth in the 911, decided to take a very cautious approach at the start and consequently lost at least three places. Then Mogget went off, Legzy conveniently tackled Frex off the track, and then spun dicing with Goldtop. Thus I was back in fifth, but I knew I would be unable to catch Goldtop who is much faster than me normally. He flagged a bit mid-race and I could get within a second, but then I lost concentration and tyres and had to focus on keeping ahead of Frex which in the end I did. So the only positive thing is that I finished; made way too many mistakes though.

Congrats to Geoffers and his companions on the podium!

amazing race. The Pantera Modena is very difficult to drive for me.
Howerer, in qualy i surprised a lot for my timelap...faster than ever! Tha car was genuine and gently to drive during the first and second lap. so i managed the  third position.
luckily, at the start of the race, thanks a good launch, i passed jarda. he had a good step.
unfortunately, due a little mistake ,i preferred to be passed by jarda, because i was not sure about my race pace.
I finish 3 very happily. cu
my wroten english is very bad. i m afraid for this
i will write my opinion of the race also in italian, so when manteos will connect to observe the result, maybe he will traslate it for me.
cu next
ciaoooooooo

Bellissima gara.

No worries Alessandro, we got the message and it is very good of you to attempt english.  It still baffles me!

I could manage reasonable times in the Pantera but never felt fully in control of it.  So during the course of the day I resolved to have another look at the GT40.  Started practice straight after dinner and before I knew it it was time for qually.

I was steadier in the GT40 but dog slow.

The theory was that the GT40 tyres would last the distance because they were naff in the first place but this didn't happen.  I waited and waited as the laps rolled by to see signs of the Pantera drivers hitting tyre problems but that didn't happen either!

Just don't get on with these cars and Silverstone is now an awful mess.  If we are racing old cars can we not stick to the old tracks that they were built for?

Let GTR2 have all the new stuff.

Grats to Geoffers, Alessandro and Jarda.

I would second the call for more period tracks. There is a GPL Silverstone, plus an early 70s and a 79 version, all close to the classic layout (fewer corners and thus less difficult to remember for the older racers). I would love to have a race there some day. There's a 60s Oulton which we could have used instead of the modern one, there was a GPL Sebring and so on.

That said, the most important thing for me is that we have the races at all, and please take this as a suggestion rather than a criticism.

Alessandro. as Clive said your english is "unusual" but understandable, no need to get Matteo to translate  thumbup1

I concur about period tracks, I just went for it for a bit of variety.
I pick tracks that I think will make for a good race with the cars I am planning for, it is limiting enough to find tracks where cars run
similar times without having to further limit to Period tracks only.
When I ran Oulton, I think I ran the traditional layout rather than the nasty one with the chicanes.
I do agree about Silverstone though, it has become messy. We won't run that version again.

Well I must be a bit strange because I like pork and this version of Silverstone  Smiley

Had a decent start and was able to keep the Pantera's in sight for a couple of laps, but then had Legzy all over me. We almost came together at Stowe as I ran too deep into the corner, but then we tangled through T1 sending me flying across the run out area and Legzy coming off worst as he spun out behind me. I'd call it a racing incident but if you felt otherwise, please let me know   angel

With the Panteras by now already off in the distance, I had to get my head down to keep NPP a safe distance behind. Was a bit worried at one point and had to convince myself he was on softs and would not be able to keep up the pace.....well it worked for me at the time  Wink Was also hoping that the Panteras would come back to me as their tyres faded, but that never really happened and I had to eventually settle for 4th.

Congrats to Geoffers and pody  Cool

Oh dear, looks like us Soggies have some catching up to do in this league. How long is this season, by the way?

The seasons typically last for the year, or most of it. If I get a new "good idea" (or someone gives me one) one or more series might
be announced as "This is the final event" and something new will start up in it's place.

Unofficial LapChart

Thought I just go for a nice stable platform for this race and chose the 906... Boy, I was wrong...
Nervous twitchy understeery, snap oversteer car fit for aliens but not for a 'Gentleman Driver' like me  Embarrassed

First time I simraced the new version of Silverstone. Nicely rendered track with lots a blind corners and brows.
If the circuit is something like this in reality then it's quite a challenge I guess.

Congrats to Geoffers and the Pantera squad. Shame the GT40's both had disco's.

After the first couple of laps i was left in P6 and could see Neils and GT up ahead in the distance. Spent the whole race trying to close them down, but was still just over a second behind Neils at the finish.

A shame i was not a bit closer earlier on as it could have been a nice three way RSR battle.

Congrats Geoff and podium.

Good result for me but a bit of a lonely race, I will take something a bit slower next time & hopefully have a bit of a dice.
Used the same basic setup I had for Brno with a couple of tweeks that made the car a bit easier to drive but not really any faster. Tried to drive conservatively & not push too hard, only made one real mistake when I got into the Club Chicane a bit too hot & only just managed to save a spin. Shame John & Mogg had technical probs, probably my turn next time!

Congrats to Jarda & Alessandro  clap clap, I'm not here next week, so cya all at Keimola.

It was a good race, but I was sad to see other people have bad luck.

I chose the Pantera because I did not think that I would be quick enough in the 911, or good enough to drive the 906. I made a few changes to make the car easier to drive, and I was able to finish in 7th place.

This layout of Silverstone took a while to learn, but I enjoy it all the same. There are enough corners to make it fun for the 911's.

Thanks, Walter

No definitely just a racing incident from where I was sat, as was the contact between Frex & me (I believe) angel

I have no objection to running some good modern tracks in the old cars, they have to race there these days in classic meets after all. This was my first go on the new Silverstone, I actually thought it was alright (though not exciting) & definitely worth the try, it was just the stupid car I'd chosen that I'd like to ban! laugh
