cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.

Not a fan of this version sorry to say. Far too many opportunities to cut in the twisty bits and a hairpin that always ends in tears  :'( Mexico88 is more sanitised although maybe a bit less fun  Undecided

And after a quick blast, I'm 3 secs quicker in the Elan (67 track).

3 seconds quicker than what?

It will be your MARA refined setup that is doing it!

Not really mate, I even ran the Elan first and used other previously tested settings for the fezza, Cobra and panty (haven't tried the E type yet). The Elan loses only slightly down the straights, but is mighty in the corners.

I've just been on line and done a few laps in the Elan.  Grin

Loving it!

The white lines would give Erik a problem though!   Roll Eyes

Used to like Mexico in GPL too.  The hairpin was always an issue with plenty of penalties dished out.  The problem that we have in PnG is that the only time that we get to run in close proximity to other humans is on race night.  That's when you find out how/how not to hit people and it's a bit late.

The other thing about GPL was that you could download a quick lap by a variety of aliens and see how it was done.  The analyser let you compare their lap with your effort too.

New idea for Matt............................. series based on the original GPL Rank tracks.  We could even have our own UKPnGRank!!!!!

Just dreaming.   Roll Eyes

Will be interesting.

EDIT:My Elan is 1.3 seconds quicker than my Cobra.  Don't think that Matt will get them much closer than that.
EDIT again: 5sp Jag is 3.5s down on Elan for me.

so...cough, 'lose' the Elan then  Smiley

Aren't the other 4 cars similar enough to make it a good race with them only? Drop the 'wunder-Lotus' from the available car set I says.

No.

I have a bigger gap between the Cobra and Jag than between Cobra and Elan.

Another Cobra race will suit me just fine.   Grin

EDIT:  This is also an enduro so the tyres may play a part in the overall result.  I guess that all of the testing being done so far has been on the softest rubber available.

so what laptimes are you close hand poker players setting?

2:06.3 Jag E-Type
2:06.6 Shelby Coupe

so far for me, online with full race distance fuel.

And I still say bin the Elan, it doesn't fit with the other cars, but not tried it personally.

Done some more testing, and I get rather different times, with full tanks and "medium" tyres.

Cobra Coupe (non wilment) - 2:03.1
Elan willment or lotus         - 2:04.3
Jag lighteight 5spd            - 2:04.6
Ferrari 275                       - 2:05.5
Panty Stock                     - 2:06.5

The Cobra for me is more than a second a lap faster than anything else, but is heavier on tyres and will need a longer stop
the Ferri though slower can go longer on a tank.
I disagree that the Elan is out of place, I think it fits well time wise and period wise, The Panty is a bit
out of place maybe, but is an easy drive for those that want one.

I got a slightly faster time with the team lotus elan than the the WIllment, if people think it's faster I will limit to non willment
we usually don't allow him anyway.
