Wish we could stop messing with the cars after the announcement.
If Matt has found a match then lets go with it. From what I have read, nobody else has driven all of the cars but they still want to mess about with the list of runners and riders.
This is a complicated race and I have already started to do comparisons on fuel and tyre stops and would like not to have to bin all my efforts so far!
As I have said, my Elan(Wilment) and Cobra(non Wilment cos that's what it said on the list) are quite close. The Jag was the slowest of the cars that I had the chance to test and I'm now perched 100 miles from my pc and not able to do any more testing.
My Elan setup is the one that has had the most work on it because MARA are doing a spec series using it at the moment.
From memory my Cobra time is a 2:01.1 and I'm a tad quicker in the Elan(Wilment). I haven't got as far as working out if the Cobra tyres will last the distance.

(Unsurprisingly) I am with CLive I think any of the cars is a potential winner in the right hands. I think the Elan is a good car for the long run. I believe the Cobra is quite a bit faster, but may need to change tyres. The Jag is also a good option, but will need a slightly longer pitstop I do not make car changes the same week of the event unless there is a serious issue, and there isn't. Pick the car you like and race. As for white lines, you can drive anywhere you like on the grey surface, lines or not. I consider the light green surface to be off limits, as is the grass. Some of the half tyres are real and will have you off and there are cut tracks at the chicane after the hairpin. N.B I have increased the race length by one more lap, as my testing says even the most fuel challenged car can do 38 laps with one stop. If I am wrong shout up.

Just found out i cant make this race anyway...harrumph! though maybe just as well seeing my laptimes need to improve by a further 3-5 secs !! Take as many Elans as you want but yes Matt and Clive are quite right, stick with it if tested. I just came back from hols and read a couple of posts that said Elan was upto 3 secs quicker so jumped to a conclusion.

For me, all cars are pretty much equal with around 1 second time difference between fastest and slowest except Jag (around 1,5) but I`m still exploring "legal cuts" ...
My choice of weapon is ... well, don`t know yet. Ferrari or Pantera - both cars are capable for 2:02 something in race trim (full tank and harder compound tires).
Cobra is out of question because I can`t get rid of understeer (hate that) ...
Elan, hm, fast through the corners but what if I stuck behind someone who know where to put his car to give me no chance to pass him ... no worth of my nerves.

Out of the cars I have tried, the Elan is fastest with the Cobra and Ferrari close behind. I haven't tried the Pantera and Jag yet. As usual, I'm nearly a second off Ed's pace. I may take the Elan simply because it's the Elan . I don't think I can live with the howl of the Ferrari over 70 minutes, and it needs to be driven in a very risky manner. The Cobra is ok and it gave me my first and only win, but will need a long pit stop.

So that's no wheels to touch the grass?

Yes, no wheels on the grass, as per our normal keep off the grass and gravel guidelines. If you take grass at some places you will get cuts anyway, so don't risk it.

I am confused about the fuel calculations with the x2 multiplier. Is it set by the server? Yesterday, the server seemed to be set to 1x. How do I calculate pit strategy?

This is my fuel consumptions but be very careful because my driving style allows me to use less fuel than anybody else here ... I think. Numbers are already multiplied x2. Pantera - 5,5 liter per lap 275 gtb/c - 6,6 Elan - 3 cobra - 6,1 Jag lightweight 5spd - 4,6 ...with the little help from MoTec ...

Sorry, I forgot to set the 2x fuel. I have restarted the server now with 2x fuel.

Cheers, I think I meanwhile worked it out for myself. Ed, I'm getting 3l (or 1.48 without the multiplier), just as you - but unfortunately, I am a second or so at least off your pace.

Call me nostalgic, but I like the "GPL" tracks. I also like this group of cars, and I have been wanting to try an Enduro Cup race with you all. I hope that I am able to join this race. EDIT: My dad went to the 1970 Formula One race at this track. Jochen Rindt had won the championship, and then perished before the end of the season.

I agree about the GPL tracks Walter.
But where did you get the habit of waking up so damned early?
