Good to hear that the pork is strong here as this is not always the case. Surely some of those Escorts will be quick down the straights, so should keep it interesting in race.

LOL I meant, are Porsches really that awful in real life? Despite how they drive in GTL/PnG/GTR2... I can't believe they're that bad & so still want to drive/own one when I'm older (Just nobody tell MJ ) Hehe, good boy, you know it makes sense I think the ST handling is fantastic in p&g3, feels pretty spot on to me. Maybe the lift off oversteer is a little exaggerated, but otherwise pretty cool. Can't believe some of you have the audacity to moan about the 911 having some pace here when you happily jump in everything quicker than it, when car selection allows!

LOL I meant, are Porsches really that awful in real life? Main mistake is to drive Porsche like any other rwd car. Also it is mistake to try with setup to "cure" understeer - that way you get nervous and unbalanced car. The real cure lays under your right foot - don`t turn steering wheel more (that way you create preconditions for snap oversteer), just lift off for the moment and allow rear to step off, than hit full throttle (full throttle = cure for oversteer in fast corners) ... Drive it that way and you will understand why elfer (911) is really joy machine.

I'm only a second quicker in the Porsche than the TC, and a second quicker in that than the Alfa. I haven't got much of a setup for the Porsche though.
For me it's Porsche over Alfa 2000 over Alfa 1750 over Escort - I seem to be doing something wrong in the Ford then. And all my times will be about 2 seconds behind yours anyway ...

It's a comment not a moan. It's just a bit of a downer when the car that one can't drive is the fastest. My 911 is 0.5 better than my Escort which is a couple of seconds quicker than my Alfa. That means that the front of the grid will be a couple of seconds away from me. Trouble is that Matt's prowess with the 911 is about the same as mine so it's usually be kind to pork time!

OK you're all saying which car is fastest, but what times should I be aiming for?
I've done a 1:29 in an Alpha so far, how much more time do I need to find?

1:25.0 in the Porsche 1:26.0 in the #2 Escort 1:27.0 in the '72 Alfa I haven't tried the Alfa with tyres that will last the distance though, the ones I tried will be on the rims before too many laps.

1.26s in both the Porsche & the Alfa GTA-SA. Alfa GTA-SA is faster than the Porsche on the straights but doesn't corner as well.

Looks like I'm a bit off pace here then:
Low 1:28 in Escort High 1:28 in Alpha 2L High 1:29 in Alpha (smaller engine better tyres) High 1:29 in Alpine
Obviously I wont be taking the cheating Porka (1-2 secs quicker than everything else for everyone except Geoffers), may go with the small Alpha or Alpine in the spirit of trying something else.

Dam Pork. For tme the pork was not the fastest, as Clive says, my pork times are not the same as others. I tried the Escort RS1600s but they were much too fast for the Alfas.

The Escort TC is very slow for me, and I struggle to understand why. Someone mentioned further back in the thread that the Escorts will be quick in a straight line. I guess you must be driving a different Escort to me then, because the TC is very slow in a straight line for me. Sometimes I wonder if something has happened to one or two cars during installation, because I see no reason why I shouldn't be able to drive the Escort at a reasonable pace. I don't expect to be the quickest in it, but the difference in pace compared to other guys that I have seen drive it is just ridiculous....

There are 8 valve ones and 16v ones. The 16v ones are quite a bit faster here. Perhaps you were trying one of the 8v ones?

The Escort TC is very slow for me, and I struggle to understand why. And i thought you were the PnG expert Mog..?! At least 4 variations in spec amongst the Escort twin cam group, and consequently big differences in laptime. Even amongst the 3 fastest FVA (16v) engined cars which appear to have identical spec in the showroom page, i seem to get significantly quicker times in the 2 blue/grey cars compared to the gold/red car. Academic to me though whenever the Alpine is included as i can never resist it's charms.. So stick with one of the slower 8v twin cams and i'll see you at the back of the grid.

FYI my original basic, no fancy setups test times:
Alfa 2.0 '72 - 1:29.4 TC 16v - 1:29.5 Alfa 2.0 '71 - 1:30.2 A110 1300 - 1:30.9 911 2.5 - 1:31.2
I always take at least 1 sec more like 2 secs off any of my Pork times as I am relatively slower in them So I would expect the 911 in the right hands to be a couple of tenths faster than the others.
