BRABHAM INVITATIONAL
Summer has been a real washout – no problem there is always UK GPL to keep you occupied. We have a new track to try out for Season 25.
Estoril was the home of the Portuguese Grand Prix until dropped from the calendar after 1996. This is the 1994 track, plenty of wide run offs & really not that hard to learn.
The Brabham Invitational gives you a choice of the BT7 for our Pro / Works standard drivers & the BT11 for the Novices / Privateers.

Race List = IGOR
Server = UKGPL3
Race date = Sunday 30-06-2013
Time = 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT)
Track =
Estoril
Race length = 21 Laps
Variant = 1965 – BT7 & BT11 only
Damage Model = Intermediate
Qualifying time = minimum of 30 minutes

Fiddly, inappropriate track for the 65's, it was built for downforce cars...use the 69X instead?

65s are good fun at slow, twisty tracks too. I agree it would be interesting to see 69x on a modern track though.

Geoff,
Yes it’s a modern track – quite similar to Interlagos. I don’t find these tracks any less fun in a ’65 or 67 mod. As its already been posted as a 65 race we’ll stick with that.

Quite enjoyed that.  Some good clean racing with Billy, James and Andreas until I ran wide at T1 after getting a good draft from Andreas  taz

I enjoyed Estoril there was some good racing. I'm still adjusting to using peddles and find I need the brake bias well forward to stop me locking the rears- I ran with 60% forward but any less and I would spin off. I didn't see the front men apart from at the start, well done all.

From my perspective I rather enjoyed the track. It has a great range of corners – especially the chicane sequence toward the back of the track. Quite a few corners where you can brake later & later – until you hit a kerb.
Also appeared to provide some good racing. Good fun with Andreas, Johnny & Phil where there was some lap by lap place swapping for several laps.

60% front bias might be more ( very) stable, but you are probably not getting the best braking distances.

Try moving the bias to 55% but keep 10% throttle on as you approach the apex and gradually ease off the gas, which allows the car to rotate into the corner. The little bit of power to the rear wheels will prevent them locking up and actually seems to improve ( shorten) the braking distance.
Once you get the nag of that you can start experimenting with diff settings...and that is another whole can of trouble lol!!

It was quite good fun but I did keep just overcooking it and spinning. Pulled off one good pass so that was me happy.

I had never driven the BT11 and was surprised at how resonsive it was - just seemed to glide round the corners when I tapped the brakes unlike the Honda that I have to fight all the way round... Might be a change of chassis for me this season!
