Moderator's Report

SUMMARY
Congratulations to Fulvio on a fine drive for a well deserved win. Starting fifth on the grid he gradually moved up the field inheriting fourth place when Ronnie had to pull out with a blown engine (very considerate driving to pull off the track as soon as he noticed trouble) and third place with a nice move up the inside of King Hiro into the Pit Hairpin. Sam had qualified on pole and led for the first five laps but the constant pressure from Clive began to tell and he ran wide at the Stag Hotel on lap six and dropped back to fifth. Sam passed King Hiro down the Brabham Straight on lap ten but he spun out at the Chicane on lap nineteen and allowed King Hiro back through. Fulvio took the lead on lap thirteen when Clive put a wheel on the grass at the Pit Hairpin causing him to spin out into the sand trap. Clive managed to rejoin in second place and set off after Fulvio. For the next ten laps Clive tried to put Fulvio under as much pressure as possible but on lap twenty he half spun at the Brabham Hairpin and Fulvio extended his lead. Another spin at Wakefield Corner on lap twenty two and Clive lost more ground before he finally over cooked it completely at the Chicane on lap twenty three, rolling his Brabham and ending his race. King Hiro held onto second place and Sam claimed the final podium spot.

A great race with ony two incidents of note.

Lap 1 - Chicane - Natan Veksler, Dean Logan, Maarten Steverink and Doni Yourth
Dean lines up in P7 and Natan in P6. Dean gets a slightly better start and is alongside as they approach the Chicane. Dean is closing in on Fulvio who has eased off early to drop in behind Clive who is clearly ahead. Dean has the inside line but he has to back off to avoid getting too close to Fulvio and this allows Natan to edge ahead. But there is still 50% overlap as the cars reach turn-in for the Chicane. Natan is on the outside and takes the racing line, sweeping across the front of Dean; no physical contact is made but there is some warp contact which sends Natan into a spin. Maarten and Doni are close behind and whilst Maarten manages to avoid the pirouetting Natan, Doni can't avoid Maarten and they collide. Natan and Dean continue unscathed, Doni is lucky not to damage his car but Maarten is upturned and is out of the race.

Dean did nothing wrong. He got an excellent start , kept to his side of the track and eased off early to avoid getting too close to Fulvio.

Natan, whilst having an advantage, was not far enough ahead to have won the corner and he should have given Dean more room. Dean never appeared in Natan's mirrors, so Natan should have realized Dean was alongside and he should not have cut across on the racing line. Having said that there was no actual contact recorded on the server, the drivers were contesting the corner (overlap between 50% and 100% at turn-in) and warp played a role. So this has to go down as a warp induced racing incident but it could have been avoided if Natan had remained on his own side of the track until he could see Dean in his mirrors.

Maarten did nothing wrong and the most right. He had the presence of mind and skill to avoid hitting Natan but he was collected by Doni.

Doni was unsighted and didn't have a clear view of Natan spinning otherwise he may have been able to avoid hitting Maarten.

Lap 3 - Wakefield Corner - David Rainier, Podkrecony Ziutek and Doni Yourth
Dean had crashed at the Chicane and Arf had hit the wreckage. The yellow flags were flying and David quite rightly slowed down to avoid the carnage. Pod slowed down too but as the green flag was held out he moved right to position his car ready to attack David up the inside into Wakefield Corner. Doni floored it as he past the green flag and he tried to overtake David on the left. Doni made contact with David who was knocked sideways into Podkrecony. David and Podkrecony were out of the race but Doni was able to continue.

David was right to be cautious and slowed for the yellow flags . He did nothing wrong but was quite slow on the approach to Wakefield Corner. Podkrecony did nothing wrong either, he waited for the green flag before attempting to overtake David.

Doni was clearly faster than David at this point and was caught out by the speed differential, nevertheless he was a little careless when positioning his car for a pass. There was plenty of room to David's left (at least 3 car widths) so there was no need to rear-end him.

Moderation has been posted and I fully accept my responsibility for the shunt involving Dave & Bart.  Once again, my profuse apologies to both.
