I think I skip this one - after I solved my graphical issue (it's my machine) I had
to learn that I would need too much practice in order to be halfway competitive
on this track in any of these cars.

Sorry Clive for the barrier - due to graphical issues I had all windows black HuhHuh?

Have fun guys

I will have to learn the track during qualifying, because I have not had any time for practice all week. I have been too busy with an FSX airfield scenery upgrade project. I can usually work tracks out very quickly, but I will just have to see how effective that tactic is in a GT40 Grin

I didn't have any issues with the server tonight but Daniele was on there and he did have one disconnection whilst I was there.

The Preluk practice server has been running on our "official" one so far. Mine was doing Lakeside
I will kill the official one tonight (please don't restart it Tony)   Wink  and use mine again, it worked perfectly
last week, see what happens tonight. There are too many people being consistently discoed from our official one
at the moment.

very funny race...and without disconnections!

during the practice....there was no handling with my car.

but, after many laps, i unterstood the difficult corners and i began to have good pace.
6 position in grid.

very long chases with other gentleman drivers. and very very funny.

I enjoyed the race. I had not raced a Porsche 906-E in a long time. I chose the soft tires (EDIT: softer mediums), and I am happy that they lasted to the finish. Congrats to the Podium. Good race everyone. Thanks for the server Matt, and thanks for organizing.

Nice track Smiley Challenging, but very rewarding to string a good lap together.

Sorry to whoever it was that I drifted into at the start, I got it a bit sideways changing up to second - hope there was no damage done.
I was quite surprised to be catching Daniele after the first few laps, given his qualifying pace. Inherited P1 after he made a mistake and was thinking to myself that I could probably hold on to win if I kept it tidy...until I went wide and hit a concrete hay bale Sad
Limped round with a wonky car for the rest of the race and brought it home second. Still fun though.

Congratulations to Daniele, John and Ed,

Every on a superstar!

Not having a great knowledge of Porsches I didn't realise that the 906/8 had a bigger motor!

During the race I was hampered by the car suddenly shifting down a gear when I least expected it.  This caused me to rub along the wall a couple of times, the last one of which brought Geoffers onto me.  He vanished when we lapped an orange 906 but I never saw his departure.

Alessandro came passed me down the straight as though I was standing still so I guess that a slightly higher 5th may have been a good idea too.

I had one half spin at the first hairpin but apart from that it was just a case of trying to keep it in one piece.

Great drive by John in the GT40.  I watched some of his practice laps and it was sure entertaining.

Thanks to Matt for the solid server too.

...

Bigger engine, bigger fuel consumption, bigger understeer forcing me to use softer front tires ...

After good qualifying i just wasn`t able to keep my life simple having spun on second harpin in very first lap. Didn`t want to create mayhem so i stand still untill last car pass me.

So here we go again, from last to whatever i can catch.
To be honest, my third place is result of other people making more mistakes than me, more power for back straight and little bit of luck in last two laps when my front tires had big drop off.

Congratulations to all finishers because this track really hits you hard even for slight mistake ... not easy to survive 18 laps at all.

After several practice laps on the server last night, I decided that it would take me a lot longer than normal to "work it out". I was frustrated that my lap times were nowhere near where they should have been, so I decided to give it a miss. I apologise for that, but my basic GT40 setup was clearly not good enough for this track. I needed more time to get to grips with the car and the track, but I didn't have time to even look at it during the week.

That turned out to be a very nice race.

I had been creeping into 2:04s in offline practice but just couldn't string a lap together in quali. This left me 4th on grid and although I got a good start, John skewed into me as he took 2nd gear (np easily done mate Wink) and I had to get out of the throttle putting me back in 7th or 8th by the hairpin  Sad

The outcome was that I had race long battles, particularly with Alessandro which was thoroughly enjoyable. I was quicker in some sections but had to be very patient as it is such a difficult track to pass safely....even the obvious places were extremely hazardous as it was so easy to misjudge braking points. I passed Clive and eventually Alessandro to reach 3rd place, but after all that I dropped a wheel on the grass and did a 360 losing 2 places  Hit with a wet fish before eventually coming home 4th  sweatdrop

Grats Daniele, John and Ed and thanks Alessandro for some excellent fun  Cool

Good to see no problems or discos again while using Matt's server. I reckon we ought to start sending our donations to him  thumbup1

It is very rewarding to see that people gave the track the respect it deserved, it is a hard track to complete 18 laps on
and the cars were some of the faster ones so it was really important to keep it tidy, I saw an altercation between
GT and Allessandro towards the end, but it seemed to be good natured as they were nose to tail at times  Shocked

Syd was doing the usual suicide moves, and I had some fun dodging him, and then a good chase with Walter, both passed
me eventually, though Syd ended up bent at the side of the road unfortunately. I was amazed to see that most of the 906s
were not the -8 variant, they were clearly the car to be in which rather surprised me (as all races with porkas do...)
I love the panty here as it slides round the corners at any opportunity, but couldn't do the turns as fast as the Porks

I promise to give you all a wider track for the next few  Grin

And, apart from the 2x mass discoes at Mid America, (Can't see why, but might have been track related)
the last 3 times we've run on my home brewed server it has been perfect, as far as I can tell no one discoed
at any of those 3 events, yet people are reporting being dropped from even practice sessions with only a couple of
people connected on the official server.

Might just have been lucky, but it doesn't shine a kind light on our official (very expensive) server  Undecided

Not a very good race for me, although I must admit I found the track great fun in the 906. Unfortunately I should have spent more time on setting up the car as I was having real problems getting it stopped for the two hairpins & this was eventually my undoing.  Roll Eyes

Got a bit lucky at the start when John got a bit squirrelly off the line & left me a clear run into T1. Didn't last though as the GT40 soon blasted past. Settled into a nice 3rd place & all was going well until I clipped a barrier & spun, two more quick spins soon followed. Eventually caught up with Clive & was looking for a way past when we came up to lap Alex at the second haipin. Braked in plenty of time but the car veered left & before I could correct it I clipped Alex (sorry! Sad) & spun into a lamppost!  :'(

Congrats to the podium, cya all at Lakeside.

PS: If any of you fancy a race on Sunday evening, the NG League race is 911RSR 2.8s at Miller. All welcome.

yes...maybe i did a little mistake there. gt was faster than me, but standing on the lefd side of the track was dangerous setting the car on the right line for the next corner...and i think to have closed the line of GT just a little bit earlier than the correct time.

sorry for this.

initially this track was tought for my driving style, instead this car is very very beautiful to drive, always with respect!  Grin

i vote always for this safety server....:-)
