Moderator's Report

Another gentlemanly race it seems with several drivers having their first real taste of the 69 winged machines. No reported incidents in this race either so whatever you feel guilty about...you got away with it this time!!

Moderator's Report

As was stated in the registration thread we will only be moderating reported incidents in the Friday series.
So, as there was nothing that upset anyone in the F2 race the result stands.

Season 25 Friday Trophy - Rounds 5 & 6 - Efexx

First of several races in Belgium.

This is a short but satisfying fantasy track. Because this circuit has a short lap length there will inevitably be a lot of cars being lapped by the leaders. Please be aware that the car in front may be running at a very different pace so care and patience is required.

PLEASE READ THIS. IT EXPLAINS THE FORMAT THAT THIS 20 RACE SERIES WILL USE.

Please refer to the list of tracks on the "Announcements" page for the Friday Trophy.

This is really designed to be a fun series with 4 different car mods running 2 sprint length races each Friday.
The first week will be F2's and 69x cars and the second week will be GT's and Can Ams.
In each category there is a choice of 4 cars for drivers from the Heavy brigade, but the Lights will be limited to a choice of 2 cars. ( see the list below)

The first race at each circuit on the schedule will always be F2 so that makes it easier to learn the track and the first qually session will start at approx 20:45 for 20mins. Race starts at approx 21:05
The second race will be for 69x cars with another 20minute qually and a 25 minute race.

The following Friday we will do the same again but with GT's and Can Ams on the same track.

There is a single S/R allowed and you DO NOT need to perform a Stop and Go. It would be nice if those who cause an accident allow the innocent victims to regain their position when you rejoin the racing.

These cars are for the first half of the season including the races at MOON. There will be different sets of cars for the second half of the season.

So, the last 2 cars are for the Lights and the Heavies can chose any car from the list of 4 if they wish. Please be honest and choose a car that suits your ability. The aim is to have some very close racing.

Cars for F2            Brab BT23 and Lotus 48,               Cooper and Ferrari

Cars for 69X          Lotus 49b and Matra MS80        Mclaren M9A and BRM P126/139

Cars for GT           Chap 2F Porsche 910                Mirage M1 and Ford Mk2B

Cars for Can Am     Mclaren M8D and Lola 260         Porsche 917/10 and Ferrari 712M

If it proves that the handicap for the lights is too harsh in any of the categories, I might consider changing the cars, but let us wait and see how things work out. I suspect that the Lights will still be quick.

Race List = IGOR

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

The race will be run under intermediate rules and a single reset is allowed. Races WILL be moderated for reported incidents only unless there is something VERY BAD happening!! so be nice to each other. Wink

Just noticed that there are 2x Lotus models in F2 guise  (I really don't get out much!).

Which one is available for heavy use?  (if both,  which one is the poor relation of the other?!).

Cheers,
Dave.

I really enjoyed the F2 race even though the poor Fezza was struggling for pace.

The 69 's were good too until I got disco'd  Undecided

Hope you all had fun and grats to both podiums

I must apologise for wrecking Hiro's race- I tried to keep to the side of the track but obviously the wrong side. A bit disillusioned with Gpl at the moment- sick to death of bad handling I cant make better. Sad

Gutted. Lots of mistakes in Race 1 but in race 2 just found the 69X great once I'd found the braking points as opposed to the breaking points  Grin

Was driving well and trying to hold Raoni off and doing it pretty well when the screen froze. Mini had a freeze in race 1 as well so not a great night for the Whitfield boys.

Sorry to David for rear-ending him in Race 1. Misjudgement. Sorry.

Too many mistakes in race1;   but I guess that is part of being a heavy...
Still,  had some minor tussles along the way & when I was able to keep it on-track, it seemed generally to be ok.  Not that I've watched the replay yet of course!

When I signed up, I was only expecting to turn up for the Friday F2 portion.  But when I grabbed the track last night,  I soon managed to remember which way the next corner was pointing - I thought that maybe I'd just check out the '69s after all.
So after having a quick spin in both the exclusive-to-heavy-types with a couple of Mosport setups  (which is probably my default - apart from F2 of course) I thought it would be worth a go for fun.  It was too,  despite expecting to be nearly 10secs a lap off the pace.

Apologies for the erratic start; not intentional.

I'm not totally bitten by the '69 cars,  but this one was entertaining.  Maybe hampering half the grid with potentially slower cars helped?!  KH was reeling me in lap after lap - however,  maybe if you had not have take a trip through the pits;  you'd have been well up the road  (no stop & go in this series...).

Cheers all,
Dave.

LOL Dave - your start was... rearrange these 'h', 'i', 's' and 't'. And if you get 'this', try again... Wink

Couldn't catch you once you got going though...

You were at the left then moved middle and stopped there a spilt sec and I was confused and worried  but went for the inside. Too late for me to avoid you you chose to move right too. Apology accepted it was not on purpose you ment to give me best raceline, but it s way better to stick to  an early decided part of the track than to risk confusion.
Very pleased with my f2 race couldn t hope for more than third and it was excitement all the way.
69x was ofc frustrating and I had another spin wich maybe cost me the 4 th position just because of..yes the frustration. I might have been caught by the guys behind but at the moment of lap 7 I felt really comfortable. Academic now. Gz winners in both races was fun after all.

Grats to Raoni and Tom race 1 and Ron and Axl race 2. Great fun once again last night. Nice track but very difficult to pass on I think. It should prove very very challenging in the GT and CanAm cars methinks! Oh and I have to say I admire Clive's loyalty to the Ferrari 166.

The F2 Fezza???      loyalty? or blind stupidity!!  lol

As I set up this series with the intention to make it fun and competitive, by allowing a choice of cars for both Lights and Heavies, I felt obliged to take the "more challenging" (read slower!!) cars.
The F2 fezza was definitely the slower car around this great little track, although it seemed to go well at Kyalami where the better handling around more corners regained time lost on the straight. At Effex, the ratio of corners to straights did not work for me/  Undecided

Again in the 69x's private practice showed the BRM super tank to be the faster car, although I had hoped that the nimble little Macca might be quick enough to offer some competition against the Lights. I don't know about the rest of you but the engine noise from that BRM is just magnificent and when a whole bunch of them roared off the grid . The volume from my speakers meant that I could not hear my pathetic little V8 and nailed the rev counter against the red line, lucky not to blow the engine right there!! lol.

Grats to the podium guys and sorry if there were more screen freezes and/or discos than we should have expected from this track.

Interestingly the cars for the Heavies appeared to offer the right level of performance to allow them to post competitive lap times...it was only on consistant driving that made the difference ( as one might have suspected?).

I hope the choice of a few different circuits offers something a little more interesting and for sure the GT's and Can AMs next week will produce some VERY close racing, maybe even giving the Heavies a chance to exploit their greater car choice on this track?  should be interesting  Roll Eyes

Yeah, great fun racing on this track! One of my favourites...

F2 start was a bit scary, as I expected Raoni to have a slow start and I was just behind him, but it worked.
Ray was leading and had some bad warping every ~10sec, but I got him when he made a little mistake.
Raoni could go faster and it was a question of time when he will pass me. We had allready had some corners close and side by side when he was doing the attempt after the long straight. I wanted him to pass me on the inside and tried to leave enough room to do so.
But the crashbox was bigger and I spun...
Very disappointed I followed Clive but made some mistakes that prevented him from being caught.

69X I was driving all the time behind Ron and inherited the second place after Tom's fatal crash...
My engine exploded in the last lap out of the second last corner so I rolled over the finish line Grin

I hope the GT and CA next week will be better frequented as the combination of all mods make the champion here!

If you need help for the GT setups maybe we can post some here...

This was my ChapF setup for the GT WR here...

Ray was leading and had some bad warping every ~10sec, but I got him when he made a little mistake.

Sorry if the problem was my connection, The result was that from where I was sitting, you two were jumping all over the place, so I just let you get on with it. Once you both got side by side I assumed the contact was going to happen and took my chance to get past. Fortunately all other cars I came across in both races remained visible at all times. See you all at the next time out.

NP Ray, all I can say is have a look at the server replay.
For me it is nearly impossible to warp on my server as it is in the next room and my ping is 0-1 Wink
In the second race I followed Ron of New Zeeland close without any problems.
