Season 25 Novices and Intermediates Trophy - Round 2 - Adelaide

NB. There is ONE grid for both the Novices and the Intermediates

The Novices and Intermediate Trophies will remain sharing a grid until further notice.

Welcome to the second round in the 65's class of UKGPL for the continuation of our twenty fifth season. We move south of the Equator and head to South Australia and Adelaide. An interesting circuit and not easy to master. This circuit is all about patience in the corners.

The 3.780 km (2.349 mi) long "Grand Prix" version of this temporary street track hosted eleven Formula One Australian Grand Prix events from 1985 to 1995, as well as an American Le Mans Series endurance race on New Year's Eve in 2000 (Race of a Thousand Years). This was the last race to be held on the long form of the circuit.

Race List = IGOR
Server = UKGPL_T7_2
IP address = 62.149.202.168
Race date = 30-07-2013
Race Time = race starts at 21:30 UK time
Qualifying Time = Between 30 and 60 minutes, starting no later than 21:00 UK time
Track = Adelaide
Variant = 65F1 - the 2.02 Release of the 65mod should be used
Damage Model = INT
Race length = 50 minutes (laps 27)
Password: see above
Replays Available here

65 Patch: The 2.02 Release of the 65mod can and should be used. You need a working installation of the 65 mod to install the 2.02 Update. All the 65 Mod files can be found here

Driver lists can be found on the Novice and Intermediate championship standings pages.

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Intermediate drivers are limited to ONE reset. Novices have unlimited resets but EACH Shift-R MUST be followed within TWO laps by a Stop 'n' Go.

All drivers have a free choice of car.

Moderating The red zone will be fully moderated for lap 1 only. For this event the red zone will be from the start line to the exit of the hairpin. Other moderation will be on reported incidents only.  However any incidents that occur in the red zone that are not reported by the drivers will be reported by the moderator.  This will allow all affected drivers the opportunity to present their case before the incident is moderated.  This should ensure there are no surprises when the moderator's report is published and hence appeals will be less likely.  If you haven't received a PM about an incident before the link below the results table is removed, you can be sure that you will not appear in the moderator's report.

Small grid tonight but had a marvellous race with Rainier- the lead changing several times through unforced errors on both sides. I ditched my wheel for tonight after last weeks friday fiasco and have reverted to my trusty pad until my wheel skills improve. Well done all. Smiley

Yes the quantity was not here (only 5) but the quality was.
Nice race from 1st to last lap.

At the end of the race, my Lotus was oversteering and I could not avoid a spin.

Really really hard track to learn and keep consistent on. At first I hated it as every corner was presenting problems but eventually I found a flow and by the end of the race I had come to quite like it and was smooth almost everywhere except for one right hander which I always dropped into neutral. Shame the grid was so small but hopefully next time we'll see some drivers returning. Who knows even Kurt (SpecialK) might put in an appearance.

Shame about the turn out - always seems more fun with a full grid.
Marginally broke my PB in qualifying & was hoping to give Rog a race. A couple of minor errors in the first few laps slipped me back too far. Got back to speed mid race & started to nibble away at Rog's 0.5 mile lead but really need someone to make a mistake to have a chance of closing.
THEN ANOTHER ANNOYING DISCO!! about 20 laps in.

My connection is dropping about an hour into the session on a regular basis - then it resets & works fine. Been having the problem for about a month. My guess is the BT Router is starting to fail. I've checked all the wiring & connections etc. If anyone ahs any thoughts on this it would be appreciated - otherwise off to give BT some grief.

I couldn't help but notice the terribly low turn-out for some divisions in this new season. I feel this is related to the lack of proper pause between seasons and that it's summer/vacation time in the Northern hemisphere, not to mention the high temperature which really kills one's motivation to practice before races. Perhaps you could shift the calendar by a month and introduce a break during August, in hope to improve the attendance.

Grats to John P65 on win

Never ever done well at this track so decided to do a couple of hours praccy in the 33 then decided to go fez for race, 33 faster than fez but i was not confidant at chicane with 33, had a mental block in race at Brewery, braked and lost a lot of time worried about hitting that exit curb and car over turning (strange was ok in praccy). Thanks for being courteous Tony. Bad luck you got discoed Billy we could of had a good race. Very poor turnout as this race was for inters and novs.

So few cars on the grid there was nobody to crash into!
