I am really confused ...

Here, I cannot do better than 2'19" with the Cooper, Honda or Ferrari
and 2'17 with the BT19.

Looking at GPL rank, the best times are 2'04" and an average time is 2'10" ...

My top speed is around 235 km/h which seems really ridiculous.

I tried different setups but no real change ...
It's not only my way of driving (It would not be possible for me to do 2'04 but 2'10-2'12 should be possible).

I think something is bad with my install ...!

I did try a couple of cars last night around Bathurst and there were some differences in the top speeds that I got.

TBH I gave up because I got bored waiting 2 minutes to get around to start a timed lap lol

The best cars peaked out at about 170mph (274kph)? but this speed was very much affected by the gear ratios. I found that all the cars I tested did not like a big gap between 4th and 5th. The engines in 1966 appear to lose a lot of torque at high revs??

If I set 5th high ( to allow for some slipstreaming) the car would just not pull itself up to the 274kph, or if too low then I would be bouncing on the red line way before the end of  Conrod Straight.
Even the Mclaren was pulling 166mph (266kph) after some tweaking of ratios.

Your speed does seem a little slow? have you checked that nothing is stopping your pedal going the full distance?
Tyre pressures and toe in can also cost you speed if not set correctly.

Just as an experiment try adding some tyre pressure and  set toe in/out to zero. A careful lap until you reach the straight and see what you get as max speed?

I also looked on GPL Rank & was shocked to see that 2:04  -  so I'm glad to hear that it's clearly an unrealistic time!  Smiley

You must have installed the 'extra' pack with another corner or two... Smiley
I installed it last night & apart from the Ferrari (which I've decided that I don't get on with);  was getting 2:14-2:16 in the others after a few laps - and I would expect to be somewhat off the pace.    The AI however, were managing 2:06 somehow.

I did notice top speeds for me were around 172-175MPH.  However,  I'm not sure how much of a tow is potentially gained with the 66s?  For example,  I got ~175MPH in the Honda,  but with AI ahead noticed 182MPH (before car then just took off!).

It appears there is not much time to be gained by trying to cut the corners in the twisty section.

Cheers,
Dave.

Cutting corners is NOT recommended around Bathurst IMHO unless you are very precise, far too many chances to end your race I think?

The draft will be noticeable down the long straights and should give a good few extra MPH/KPH, so gearing for the tow might be wise. Unless of course you intend to rush off into the lead and break your own wind out front??  Roll Eyes

Yeah exactly - those 'kerbs' are a little fierce!

Now - running over those too many times (once?!) *would* cause tyre issues for sure...

I hope there is a slot left tonight for my Ferrari...

Come on guys I suspect some sandbagging here. I just tried the 3L Ferrari, Cooper, Honda and Brabham and sub 2.10 is not that difficult. Okay running around for the entire race at that kind of pace might prove hazardous or terminal for the engine but for sure the podium will be at that pace or faster I suspect.

I think late entries are required to start at the back of the grid?  If unsure, maybe best to ask a Moderator. Wink
