Moderator's Report

SUMMARY
Sam wheel spins at the start, looses the advantage of pole position to Ronnie and he has to slot into third position behind Evil Clive. On lap 2 Sam used the power of the Eagle to squeeze past Clive on the run down to Masta but the complement is returned at La Source on lap 4 when Clive got the better of Sam in the drag race down towards the line. In fact Sam spun his car and lost third place to Natan. At mid race Evil Clive blew up his Ferrari engine but Ronnie continued on imperiously to a convincing victory. Sam was involved in several incidents but managed to recover to finish in a hard fought second place. Bob Whitwell claimed the final place on the podium after a very eventful drive from last place after he had spun his Eagle on the start line.

Server replay time: 0h03m16s

Lap 1 - Stavelot to La Carriere - David Rainier and Bob Whitwell
Bob gets a good run at David out of Stavelot and as they approach the second kink on the way to La Carriere, Bob goes for a pass on the inside. There is enough room and Bob has plenty of overlap at turn-in but contact is made and David is punted off.

Neither driver did anything wrong. There was enough room but warp intervened and David was very unlucky to be punted off.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h24m00s

Lap 7 - Blanchimont - Sam Blood and Natan Veksler
Natan puts a wheel on the grass at Blanchimont, spins to the inside where the banking pushes him back onto the track. Sam is following and tries to take avoiding action but contact is inevitable. Fortunately both cars manage to continue.

Neither driver did anything wrong.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h25m48s

Lap 8 - Malmedy - Phil Thornton, Natan Veksler and Sam Blood
Phil gets out of shape over the crest at Malmedy and spins out into the hedge. Natan is following and although no contact is made on the server he is punted off by warp. The hapless Natan is then collected by Sam who is desperately trying to avoid the two stricken Eagles, one on each side of the track.

None of the drivers did anything wrong. Natan was very unlucky to be affected by warp and Sam did his best to avoid the spinning cars but contact with one or the other was unavoidable. All the drivers were able to continue but Natan had ended up over the hedge and lost a lot of time driving on the grass trying to find a way back onto the circuit.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h38m16s

Lap 12 - L'Eau Rouge - Bartosz Antoszczyszy and Dean Logan
Dean gets L'Eau Rouge all wrong and ends up cart wheeling down the edge of the track. As Bartosz emerges from the top of L'Eau Rouge he is presented by a Ferrari blocking his way and it is impossible for him to avoid contact. Both cars are destroyed and are out of the race.

Season 25 Works Trophy, Round 4, Spa Francorchamps

Welcome to the fourth round in the Works Trophy.  We continue the European leg with a visit to Spa Francorchamps in Belgium.

The original triangular shaped course, which was designed in 1920 by Jules de Their and Henri Langlois Van Ophem, used public roads between the towns of Spa, Malmedy and Stavelot.  The course was extremly fast and was made even faster in 1939 with the introduction of the famous Eau Rouge section.  The circuit was completely revised and shortened for the 1981 Belgian Grand Prix but it is the faster 8.761 mile version of the track that we will use for this race.

The 8.761 mile version of the circuit was used between 1946 and 1970 and whilst corners like Eau Rouge, Burnenville and particularly Masta; presented the drivers with exceptional challenges the circuit was very dangerous and claimed the lives of many drivers.

As always, we will run Pro Damage, so resets are not allowed.

Race List = IGOR

Replays Available here

Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Moderating The red zone will be fully moderated for lap 1 only. For this event the red zone will be from the start to exit of Masta. Other moderation will be on reported incidents only.  However any incidents that occur in the red zone that are not reported by the drivers will be reported by the moderator.  This will allow all affected drivers the opportunity to present their case before the incident is moderated.  This should ensure there are no surprises when the moderator's report is published and hence appeals will be less likely.  If you haven't received a PM about an incident before the link below the results table is removed, you can be sure that you will not appear in the moderator's report.

The chassis token system is explained on the Works standings page. Please ensure you choose a chassis that is within your budget, which can be seen by hovering the mouse over your points total in the standings.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Sorry Dean for the crash. When I saw you doing aerobatics, I've tried to go around you without losing too much speed, but it didn't worked out.

Amazed I finished considering my attempts at killing the anchor-weight Beast of Bourne in that race. Good show gents, onwards to the next one!

Lol, no worries. You were blind coming in there, I'm sideways and stopped (pretty much), so unavoidable. Sorry for my clumsy that started it. Sad

I had Doni (edit, it was Ivan) very close behind for the first few laps as I was getting warmed up and later Jethro stayed between 2 and 4 seconds back. With a few laps to go I was settling for 5th with Phil and Bob in sight ahead. Feeling pleased with myself for being the first non Eagle home and having calculated that I would be leading the championship in this position, pride came before a fall and my engine blew up. I think this may be my first engine fail in over 50 races in UKGPL.
Grats to Ronnie for the win.

Grats to Ronnie for the win.

I was behind you in the opening laps. You were incredibly slow in Burneville, i almost collected you on the both first and second laps there. Caution can be overdone too i guess. I'm not really complaining, just giving you a little feedback on your back end Grin

Seriously now, your consistency is unbelievable and it helped me that i was able to follow you for half a race. Than i took a little ride over one of those wall of death banks. Ride went quite well, no damage and 5 secs lost, but Jethro went past and on my own i lost my bearings a bit. Happy that i finished  Smiley

Cocked it up through Masta on lap 3 sitting comportably in 4th. Clive was ...evil... enough to kick up some muck as he went through ahead of me (he was busy with his own battle for 2nd), and the cloud unsighted me just when I needed to be precise. On the exit, I slid across the track, hit the bulding and killed the engine....

See you the race after next...

NP Ronnie. Although it did raise my heart rate a little!! Shocked

I was trying a new setup on the Fezza, which was quick and very driveable provided I treated it with respect and did nothing sudden. I was committed to Eau Rouge and had nailed the gas to launch myself over the crest and..... there was an Eagle trying to write his name on the tarmac!!! (or so it seemed.)

Sudden application of lock and brakes in trying to avoid you brought out the worst in my setup and the car snapped right and left. Rapid downshifting was probably what stuffed the engine and a lap later it all went very quiet at Masta.

Quite pleased with the pace of the Fezza, but disappointed that the engine broke so easily.  Wink

grats to the podium as usual and maybe apologies to Sam?Huh? Was there contact at La source when I tried a sneaky pass up the inside?

No apology necessary Clive, it was my lead foot that caused my spin  Undecided. I'll be using a more conservative ramp angle next time I use the Eagle. Was a shame that happened because I was really enjoying the race up until that point. Afterwards, I had a very messy mid-race, being party to several collisions. Was amazed the Eagle survived it all. Calmed down again towards the end but Ronnie was way too far ahead for any sort of comeback.

Congrats to all finishers Smiley
