Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 0h00m51s

King Hiro takes a cautious approach into St Devote. Cookie is probably caught off guard by KH's braking point & runs into the back of KH. A rear end shunt penalty is 2 places + 1 for first lap - but will reduce by 1 in mitigation
What happens next was complete GPL carnage & a direct follow up from the original contact.

Clearly there was a lot of action going on behind that I missed thanks to a spot on the grid just behind Clive and Sam. Early on I tried to pressure Sam into a mistake for second spot but he was having none of it. He was faster out of the turns and unless he made a mistake I was not going to get close enough for a pass. Backing off a little for safety turned out to be a mistake as I simply started making small errors which allowed Sam to disappear after Clive at an even faster rate. What would have been a lonely drive to the finish for third got mildly entertaining when I came upon Phil who I eventually got the better of to cross the line for the final podium spot. Not everyones favourite track I suspect but always a challenge. Grats again to Clive and Sam and well done to all who finished.

On T7 I have the same grid, we could go up to 10 m. between cars as on other tracks. More cars would start before last hairpin though.
Anyway I thank you Axel for providing your great server, but I insist on the bandwith settings. On tracks like Monaco, where the pack take more time to spread out, too much cars visible add problems to on-line connection troubles. Of course is nice to race seeing all the cars, but GPL wasn't programmed to manage so many cars visible on-line so the prediction code goes on trouble when there are so many data to manage both on server and client side. You can't crash with the cars you can't see, and last night with so many cars stopped in a few meters GPL got crazy.
I hope you get my point, my English isn't very good.  Smiley
Ciao

A more loose grid maybe would have helped to go through T1 in a more safe way, but with the full pack visible to all there were many cars a bit unstable so close each other and a crash was easy to come.

This is the loose grid I have on the server, do you have a wider version?

I took a decision to run one grid last night - although Monaco is a not a good selection of track for that. We only had four Heavy class drivers & I really can't see the point in a four car race. Apart from my own 1.30 qualification Rog, Dave C & David R all posted reasonable times.
I hope to run separate grids for Edmonton. We have enough registrations to run 2 grids if a few more turn up.

Race was not good. I'm usually off the pace at Monaco - whatever the mod. Started in the hairpin - coasted up to a scene from the fast & the furious after T1 & waited - suspect I got clobbered in the mass of resets. After I managed to get going I lasted 5 laps before a disco. Internet connection is awful at the moment - have been disco'd from about half the races I've started.

Never mind.

From looking at the entrant list last night, I thought that there were more heavy's than that (I guess the Ints  came from somewhere then!).  So I got that wrong,  but yes - just 4 of use on our own grid would have just a bit extravagant & potentially dull.

Nevermind,  the early exit meant I was able put some furniture together (yay!);  but at least I have been able to get some other practice track time in tonight instead.  Not a bad trade as it turned out.
