Moderator's Report

A couple of incidents that were avoidable

Server replay time: 0

Clive takes the Lotus. This is a crime in so many ways... SHE would NOT be amused. His punishment is demotion. Repeat offenders would be DQ'ed and have to see HER...

Server replay time: 0h01m03s

Sky has braked fairly early and gives Clutch a sniff of a pass. He puts his nose in where it might get tweaked and sure enough Sky takes a tight line. Although Sky could have left more room, Clutch was behind and could have backed out. Once Sky went tight, he was never going to make it stick. Penalty is a bit harsh but this is the top division and it was lap 1, turn 1 but I have not added the extra place for Lap 1.

Behind Jethro sees what is developing and slows, Dean is slower to react and wipes out the unfortunate Mr J. Rules have: "The victim slowed unexpectedly and the shunter was too close to take avoiding action."

This should not happen at T1 in the top class.

UKGPL Season 25 - Pro Trophy - Race 4 - East London

We will race on the 1960's layout of the Prince George circuit.

Opened in the 1930s, it hosted the South African Grand Prix in 1934, and 1936 to 1939 when racing was halted due to World War II. The original circuit was shortened to 17.7 kilometres in length in 1936. Modified to meet Formula One regulations in 1959, the track was built into a seaside amphitheatre. It hosted three rounds of the F1 South African Grand Prix in the 1960s until the increasing power and speed of the cars meant that it became too small for Formula One. The race was moved to Kyalami.

This is a course with a high speed start and then some tight twisty corners. The last corner, in particular can be tricky and is important to set up the next lap.

As the senior division with the best drivers, drivers have a free chassis choice.
Once a chassis is selected, a driver should stay in that chassis for ALL races.
There will be no other handicapping for this series.

There will be full moderation of lap one Red Zone and reported incidents for the rest of the race.
Please submit incident reports within a week after the race so that the moderators report may be out before the next race.
Full time drivers have priority access to the server until 21.00 UK time.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Going to struggle to get to this one.  Typical that after the break in the calendar, I have an existing commitment, but that's the way it is.

Hope to be back for next round.

Sorry

Well, 4 races in and thats 3 Lap1 or 2 crashes involving me.

In my 4 or 5 years with UKGPL ive never had such a bad run or anything approaching this many incidents, something i pride myself on avoiding. Its no fun spoiling people's races and i'm mindful to sit out the rest of the season.

Ive not played GPL much recently (though still love the game) as i thought i'd take a break until the new Spa67 is released, but it appears the break has spoiled my race craft and skill.

This one, well, simply braking into turn 1 and was caught out by how early the car on my left braked and turned, worst still it was my team mate NHance. Retired out of guilt. Even that was further to me taking somone out in qualifying when i was trying to get off the racing line. Poor effort.

My worst season ever continues. In 4 races I have only recorded 2 timed sectors (at Monaco). Think Clutch is wrong my collision was with Sky who spun presumably after contact with Clutch. I lost a wheel.

I have accepted no shift R racing now but must admit I didn't leave the game immediatly as this time which is the second race running a not my fault crash in the 1st sector. I sat for a while & thought about using Shift R I was so fed up & sorely tempted. I had considered starting at the back of the grid here just to see if I could finish a race but look what happened to those guys so that is no protection.  Moan over - on to the next one Grin

heyy!! don't beat yourself up. I know that you are both naturally safe, quick drivers and I feel confident racing close to you whenever that arises.

If it is a little rust in the driving, the only way to get it right is to do more races.?? Maybe drive super cautious for the first couple of laps until the field spreads out. Let's face it the first couple of laps are always the most accident prone because all the cars are so close.

Over a season things will even out. I have had some dire periods where I just made mistake after mistake....hmmm watching the replay for this race maybe I am still making too many mistakes  Undecided

Grats again to Tris and Clive. Just did not have the pace to trouble you both at any stage, even when you made a mistake Clive.

Sorry I curtailed your celebrations Tris but I only had eyes for the flag; the doughnuts are on me next time!

Sorry it sounded that bad. Maybe should not write a report whilst the race is in progress & leave it till the next day when I have had time to think it through 'cos by the next day I am looking forward to the next race. It really is just bad luck for 3 of the 4 races. Best practice my starts as well. See you all at the next one Grin. Very pleased to see we had 15 starters as I believe only 17 registered for this class.

Sorry for the late reply! Very pleased with 3rd. For me in this championship it's a valuable commodity as the competition is mighty.

And thank you Hiro it was great fun! Glad to hear it from you. See you guys next week! Smiley

Been waiting a long time for that penalty.

Much deserved i'm afraid, and belated apologies to Sky.  Wink
