Moderator's Report

Terrific first lap !
Rear end shunts followed by other rear end shunts ...

As Andreas wrote : "You can not win a race in the very first corner of the very first lap"
Please, try to remember it for the next races !

Server replay time: 0h01m00s

Francesco, 11th on the grid, had a very quick start ...too quick start and he hit Andreas car (5th on the grid) before the first turn.

Andreas had to retire and other drivers had problem due to this accident (Igor, Dean ...)

Blatant rear end shunt +1 for red zone

Server replay time: 0h01m02s

Another accident before the 1st corner, Tristan made a rear end shunt against Ronnie.
Tristan tried to do his best to avoid Ronnie's car and it was a marginal contact with its right rear wheel.

Simple rear end shunt + red zone reduced to 1 position.

Server replay time: 0h01m03s

Dave Curtis made a simple rear end shunt vs Phil's Ferrari, once again before the 1st corner of the 1st lap, but it was partially due to Igor Stanchev loss of control.

penalty reduced to a warning.

Server replay time: 0h01m33s

Terrific rear end shunt made by Florian against Ronnie's car.

It was a miracle Ronnie could continue the race but Tristan had to retire and there was a lot of confusion for other drivers.

Server replay time: 0h02m03s

Simple Rear End shunt done by Martin against Dave Curtis car.

+1 for red zone

Sorry Andreas this time you have all the reasons.I was too at the left and i have not seen the braking point.
if you moved your car to the right i crash into the wall(i think).
A penalty for me is right but is a shame to have ruined your race.

You have to laugh sometimes  laugh laugh laugh laugh

Anyway my race finally ended through my own mistake. Good luck to all; although I suspect not many will finish judging by the early laps.

We were all disconnected after 20 minutes qually, probably the server crashed ...so no times were kept.

Only 3 finishers, nice win Phil !!

Yes that was most unexpected.  I'm not the best of the late brakers and if this circuit isn't all about the brakes I don't know what is.

I knew I didn't have the pace of the guys up front but the slipstream allowed me to hang on in the early laps.  When everyone started to drop out I just focused on maintaining my concentration.  Thankfully unlike Sunday's race I kept a steady pace and finished.  Grats to David and Dave for the podium.

It seems slow and steady is the way to go ATM.  The fast guys are making too many mistakes.

Yes, congrats Phil (although you are DaveR's competition!).
Downloaded this last night & from the track map was expecting some airfield circuit!  Was pleasantly surprised to see some greenery.
Then was a case of selecting the default BT19 & the retro-fit default setup [like most tracks, Dessauer looks just like Rouen if you squint a bit...].

Some initial contact,  but I guess we'll gloss over that & the Red Zone elves will do their work.

I admit I don't know one car from another,  but maybe the BT19 levels the field quite a bit?  I even managed to 'power' past a couple of cars,  not that I was expecting to keep positions gained - but was willing to give it a go.

I think a couple of bumps gave me an engine problem about 10laps in, at which point I was plodding the remainder of the event to the end.  Low top end just meant I could brake later & later than expected & usually worked out ok.  There was nobody else around, so my focus was to try to get under 1:45 [then 1:44] for a mini celebration. Yay.

Found a wheel in the woods & have not checked,  but as Martin was hiding among the trees in the field after the 90 degree left - maybe I found the donor.  Anyway, that meant I inherited 3rd place - so was a case of keep going just in case Phil or Dave were unfortunate.

Although I was guessing that they were both driving a rather controlled race to make sure that was not the case.

Cheers lads.
Dave.

I got that but my question is when such things happen which result will be recorded in the official results? Grats to the finishers!

Well Francesco, I really do not know what to say.  Sad Normally you are an experiend driver, who knows that even in the first corner of the first lap you have cold tyres. The car is full of gasoline, all the other cars are around you. You do not know exactly what they may do. Could be that some of them got a real early brakepoint compare to yourself, for what ever reason. And is there not a sentence like: "You can not win a race in the very first corner of the very first lap" ?
Anyway, now I´m off to get me some screws to fix my Kart.
So long
Andreas

It may happen to all to do an error. This time was a big error,I let myself be swayed by the speed of the other cars without calculating risk and breaking point.I'm really depressed for what i did ,now my worry is to avoid any contact especially with you in the next races.

This track has few corners, but they are rather interesting ones!  Our brief interlude, while the Server carried out track repairs during practice, gave me time for some extra setup changes.  They must've been good ones.

A poor start soon put me in the thick of things, as it all soon started to get rather too exciting.  In 2 laps, I'd spun once, bumped wheels at least once, and had been involved in 2 different accidents happening in front of me!  All of this, and I was still in a fighting 4th place.  And with Ronnie and Andreas both out on the same lap, I was restored to a respectable 2nd, and wondering how much debris was hanging off my car. Shocked

It briefly became a high speed pitboard battle with Phil just ahead, and recovering Dave, or was it David, just behind.  Brain fade then kicked in, and the last of the late breaker's, exited the race on 3 wheels, after attempting a brief attempt to continue.

Dessau looks like a simple, not very interesting challenge, until you get there and that's when it starts to get devilish!  I hope more of us survive for a longer race next time.  blink

Sure everyone makes an error here and there. Don´t be to much depressed and do not worry to much. May the next time it will go all well again. Just a bit more about calculating the risk and breaking point.
See you in the next race!

The difference between the braking point, and the breaking point, is sometimes measured by the difference between, a race win, and a pain in the neck. wacko
