Season 25 Friday Trophy - Rounds 17 & 18 - Rouen-Les-Essarts

We race in north western France at Rouen-Les-Essarts.
In the 1950s and 60s this track was widely regarded as one of the finest in Europe. The French Grand Prix was first held at Rouen-Les-Essarts in 1952 before the track was lengthened and  the Grand Prix held there again in 1957, 1962, 1964 and 1968.  It is the lengthened circuit that we will be racing on tonight.  The 1962 race was won by Dan Gurney, his first Formula 1 victory and the one and only win for Porsche.  The 1964 race was again won by Dan Gurney this time driving a Brabham-Climax.  The final grand prix in 1968 was won by Jacky Ickx but it will always be remembered for the fatal accident involving Jo Schlesser.

This round is for the F2s and 69X.

Good fun tonight. Having a dice with Bill in race 2 when my wife caught me.... was meant to be on duty at my son's Birthday party.

Was trying to talk my way out of it when I lost it on the grass and span into the catch netting. "Well you have crashed now, so you can come off..." <sigh>. She DID let me go to Goodwood so not too bad on the whole. It was a pity. I was enjoying dicing with the Race 1 champion...

That made me laugh. My son's birthday was a week ago, but his party is today. Luckily, I am not in that predicament.  Grin

Yes, you are...

Andreas time was due to a connection problem, but I corrected it now Smiley

Great racing with very close fights in F2  Grin

Thanks to all who turned up some good racing once again in this series. I have to say I hate Rouen as this track bores me to tears. The two minutes to get round here seems longer than a lap at the ring. But this series is a winner so I will be back for the GT's and CanAm's; providing Agents of Shield finishes early enough!

Outrageous!  Some 'heavy' turns up and only goes & wins it!

Congrats Billy!

Congrats Billy!

Thanks Dave. After 294 starts it’s not before time that I finally managed to win a GPL race. Fortunately for me Dean, Cookie & Ronnie were busy scrapping with each other & let me sneak through. Second piece of good fortune - it was a short race so they didn’t get chance to haul me in – although Dean was getting mighty close on the last lap.
This goes to prove one of two things – if you practice enough you will get quick enough to win OR if you persistently turn up every week, year after year, then one day it is your turn to win.
F2 race at Imola yesterday put things into perspective – qualified 10th & finished 9th – but I didn’t get lapped!
