Moderator's Report

Not too much in the Red Zone. Norm blows his engine and Fran overdoes it at Tiroch. Andy gives the wall a smooch at Bosch but apart from that some good racing.

Server replay time: 0h05m17s

Sergio makes a mistake a Tiroch and runs wide. Dean sees this develop and lifts but to avoid Clouds he needed to brake as well. Dean could not avoid the collision without compromising his lap but he should have done so.

When no reset is available it is doubly important that drivers leave racing room for the unexpected.

UKGPL Season 25 - Pro Trophy - Race 6 - Zeltweg

Originally built in 1969 to replace the bland and bumpy Zeltweg Airfield circuit, the Österreichring track was known for being very fast, as every corner was a fast sweeper and taken in no lower than 3rd gear in a 5-speed gearbox and 4th in a 6-speed gearbox.  There are also noticeable changes in elevation during the course of a lap which means the downhill sections are even faster. Like most fast circuits it was a hard circuit on engines and even harder on tyres simply because the speeds were so consistently high.

As the senior division with the best drivers, drivers have a free chassis choice.
Once a chassis is selected, a driver should stay in that chassis for ALL races.
There will be no other handicapping for this series.

There will be full moderation of lap one Red Zone and reported incidents for the rest of the race.
Please submit incident reports within a week after the race so that the moderators report may be out before the next race.
Full time drivers have priority access to the server until 21.00 UK time.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

This is the one with no chicane at Hella Licht (T1), yes?

So sorry, but i'll be missing this one again tonight  Embarrassed .

I hope to make as many as I can of the remaining rounds, but my 'real life' calendar has conspired against me for this season.

Test after the race says that is not a problem of my potentiometer, but is a problem into the race.Which kind of problem?I don't know!My speed ,when i race with GEM, is normal, like in the qualifications not fast but normal.

Made a rather stupid error under braking for Bosch Kurve whilst evil and I dragged that white whale up well beyond its capabilities. Probably for the best, as 27 laps around here can be a real killer on your stamina!

hehe! Jethro  ..........that was quite a spectacular pinball impression from where I was sat, which was actually a little too close for comfort!!!  I had to steer single handed because I was watching through the fingers of the other hand. Shocked Shocked

I knew that the venerable Honda would struggle against fast drivers in fast cars around here, so I was content to at least be towards the front of the grid for the start. At least I could use the slipstream as long as I stayed in touch.
The first laps I tried to take advantage of those cars struggling with cold tyres and full tanks and managed to pass Natan and the aforementioned Jethro. But I could not quite get within range of Ronnie who was in 2nd place chasing Tristan no matter how hard I tried. Things looked set after about 12 laps with the front 3 cars spread out. I was in 3rd, with a safe gap back to Natan and his BRM.

But .......once again I forgot how to drive around 3/4 distance and found myself struggling to keep up the pace??!! natan and Andy M closed in and it all went wrong for me as I pushed too hard and ran wide. Natan and Andy sped past and I rejoined only to watch Axel pass me in his Fezza with Goran threatening to do the same if I gave him a chance!!

The next few laps were the most fun in my whole race as I struggled to regain at least one place. I suspect that Goran was sitting back waiting for Axel and myself to take ourselves out of the race as things got very close and very fast at times  Grin Eventually I got a run on Axel and some demon late braking got me through. I pushed hard but Axel threatened to use his power and the slipstream to drag himself past again??!! Undecided
I did not see what happend, but I think Axel and Goran exchanged paint samples somewhere beacuse they suddenly dropped way back and I was able to cruise to the flag.....it was then I discoved that I still had 6 galls of fuel left...hmmmm maybe that extra weight did not help??

Grats to Tristan and Ronnie and Natan, with Andy in close 4th.

During the shutdown of my PC(after the crash of the race)i have found some Windows update.Could the download of this update, during the race i suppose, have an influence on the game reducing the speed of the car?

Result shows I had an accident but not so. The engine blew & I ran along the barrier to keep out of the way. Up to my old tricks that Clive warned me about many seasons ago using too much engine braking & perhaps not matching the revs properly. Entirely my fault this one. Must be the heat of competition.

Thanks DLogan !  Lips Sealed Tongue
He made me fly beyond the fence and I've found not any hole in the fence to regain the track. Only a reset could have helped me !

Grats to Tristan and Natan.

Things don't always work out as you hope but on this occasion they did. Lying in third on the grid at the start but behind Tristan in pole I hoped to get a tow up the hill to give me a chance of nicking second off Jethro and it worked. Next was to hang onto the tow from Tristan to try and break the tow Jethro/Clive were getting from me. It took a while but by the time Tristan had left me trailing in his wake I had a big enough lead on third place to hold on until the end of the race. Mission accomplished. Maybe if Jethro had lasted the race I suspect between himself and Clive they might have closed me down and the final result may have been different?

For sure, me and Tristan had a big advantage with the Lotus at this track but Tristan was mighty all race, well done.

I'm sorry you see it that way, and I was sorry to see it happen, but you slowed rapidly and unexpectedly right on the line I was committed to, in a corner that's all about carrying the speed through and up the hill. As soon as I saw your left tires touch the grass, I knew you'd be slowing and lifted off the gas (I was already drifting, if I'd hit the brakes I'd have just slid into you even harder) but was unable to avoid contact.

I've reported it, so we'll see what the mods say.

Ok Logan no problem for me, the only thing a little strange has been to see your car pointing between the inside of the right turn and my car on the left side and for me this was the trigger of the incident, obviously at that point you had no more room to make any evasive action except almost stopping, and instead I've seen your rpm gauge going up.  Tongue Roll Eyes  Wink
No problem anyway, only unpleasure to have had a nice race unfinished.
