It really doesn't matter because I had to quit the race in a very early stage,
but why did you disqualify me due to an illegal car choice Huh
The #162 Anglia (the Gulf-like skin) has only 4 gears and I already used this
one once or twice before.
Thanks for a short explanation.

Cu next week.

Grats to Geoffers on a dominant win and demonstartion of how a mini should be handled.
I felt obliged to use the Mini for this race, as I still had 4 potential drives left having missed 2 races and 2 of those drives were for the mingey.

As I posted pre race, I was finding it a bit of a handful, but was relatively happy with how I slowly chipped away at my PB. The setup was built from pure experimentation and hope, so with no idea of what to expect it was not too bad.

Once we got into the race it became apparent that maybe I had selected the wrong gear set as I was losing 2-3 tenths to everyone coming out of the hairpin. I would be interested to know what gear set Geoffers was using. I had opted for the highest ratios as that gave me a solid 3rd gear right around T1, so that I hit the rev limit just as the car straightened up and I dropped into 4th. But at the hairpin I found that although 1st gear was OK ( as I threw it at the apex), I needed 2nd almost immediately and the car almost stopped when the revs dropped.
Maybe I am still being too cautious with these engines as I make sure I upshift as soon as any warning light flickers.

The race was good fun especially chasing Tony in his Anglia...oh how I envied you and your car choice  cursing as you pulled ever so slowly, but surely, away from me on each lap.

At least I have some real cars to use for the last 2 rounds with the driving wheels where they should be  Wink

Erling....If all you found were 2 chrome headlamp surrounds , might I suggest Specsavers?? There should be a sump, radiator, front nearside wing and at least 2 wheels lying around that area after my somewhat "unconventional"  entry to the hairpin on the final lap. Roll Eyes

You are restricted to two drives per make in this series. This race was your THIRD drive in the Ford Anglia.

Yeh you definitely had the wrong gears there Clive, I was using the lowest ratio. It meant that I was on the limiter in top on the pit straight & the back straight, but the Mini engine is quite robust & will stand plenty of abuse. I took Gerards (T1) in top, then dropped briefly to 3rd for the Esses to help with turn-in, changing up mid corner, again this helps the car turn & finally used 2nd for the hairpin. I tried medium gears in practice but found them 2-3 tenths a lap slower.

You must have missed my chat message during qually. I uploaded my setup in the online files in the Mallory folder, 'mini' right at the bottom of the list. I think Rog gave it a try, not sure if it helped him though!

Well me eyes aren't getting better for sure, but it was only the two surrounds.  Someone else must have nicked the rest...  Wink

Commiserations to Kurt, Bill & Matt, who all seemed to have bad luck early on.

Bill: Regarding your sound problems; is it only in GTL ?   Occasionally, I may loose one or both channels of my sound, which is normally down to contamination of the contact surfaces in plugs and/or sockets, either on soundcard (main board), or in the speakers.  Moving the plugs in and out repeatedly scrapes it off, so contact is reestablished.

Cheers,
Erling

Thanks Erling, tried that the first time it happened; eventually using my all in one, antivirus and malware plus computer maintenance package found the problem to be due to file clutter generated I suspect by the package.  Once that was deleted all was well, so now I need to remember to de-clutter the system before I start racing which I forgot in my haste t0 join you folks.  Roll Eyes oops censored
