Grats to Geoffers on a dominant win and demonstartion of how a mini should be handled.
I felt obliged to use the Mini for this race, as I still had 4 potential drives left having missed 2 races and 2 of those drives were for the mingey.
As I posted pre race, I was finding it a bit of a handful, but was relatively happy with how I slowly chipped away at my PB. The setup was built from pure experimentation and hope, so with no idea of what to expect it was not too bad.
Once we got into the race it became apparent that maybe I had selected the wrong gear set as I was losing 2-3 tenths to everyone coming out of the hairpin. I would be interested to know what gear set Geoffers was using. I had opted for the highest ratios as that gave me a solid 3rd gear right around T1, so that I hit the rev limit just as the car straightened up and I dropped into 4th. But at the hairpin I found that although 1st gear was OK ( as I threw it at the apex), I needed 2nd almost immediately and the car almost stopped when the revs dropped.
Maybe I am still being too cautious with these engines as I make sure I upshift as soon as any warning light flickers.
The race was good fun especially chasing Tony in his Anglia...oh how I envied you and your car choice
as you pulled ever so slowly, but surely, away from me on each lap.
At least I have some real cars to use for the last 2 rounds with the driving wheels where they should be
Erling....If all you found were 2 chrome headlamp surrounds , might I suggest Specsavers?? There should be a sump, radiator, front nearside wing and at least 2 wheels lying around that area after my somewhat "unconventional" entry to the hairpin on the final lap.
