Championship Standings here

Grid/server capacity: 28

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (28 laps)

Track: Mallory Park Download this

Cars allowed: Austin Mini Cooper, Lotus Cortina, Jaguar MkII, Ford Anglia Download this, Daimler V8 Download this

The 5-speed Ford Anglia's are not to be used as they overheat and cook the engine.

Car restrictions: Two drives maximum per make. Check your status here

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal
Pit stops: Not required

Server: simracing.org.uk Mondays
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None

Hmmmmm.  Not sure about this Mallory Park Track.

Is it a short twisty circuit?...or
Is it basically a fast oval, with just one hairpin??

So, do you want power and speed?..or
Do you need great roadholding??

Would the Mini be a good choice here? or does it suit that comfy armchair which is the 4.5litre V8 Daimler??

Either way my attempts to tame Mallory are just under 57 secs when I get it right, but I am discovering that this track is not as simple as it looks......unlike me  w00t

55.9!!
If that is in the Mini, then I need someone to teach me how to drive the awkward little thing ! Undecided or a brain transplant lol.

The mini just seems to reverse all the rules of driving sims. Almost any other car in any sim that I have tried, can be set up to understeer with power on, and revert to oversteer when you lift off. But the Mini appears to do the opposite!! and my muscle memory and instincts are fighting my brain at every corner  wacko

Early bath for me - in lap five I touched the curbs in the hairpin and had a rollover.
Couldn't avoid Bill who jumped up to the banquette and was stucked there.
Tried to help Bill down the banqette and was stuck myself  Huh

Sorry Bill

Anyway - nice funny but tricky little track.
Was missing nearly one second in 10 minutes quali to the session before Sad

Have fun guys.

From my car you just barrel rolled on top of me.  It just rounded off a terrible night's racing.  When I first joined my sound was intermittent so I logged off and tried rejoining without success. Rebooted but got delayed whilst a programmed maintenance task took place.  After that we all got dumped and had to rejoin to continue my bad luck. Huh Roll Eyes

Results and replay now posted.

SpecialKS is disqualified for using an illegal car choice.

Apologies for the muck up with the lap no's.

That was a fairly hectic and yet uneventful race.

Couldn't quite match my offline pb in qualy, but still managed to snatch pole by a mere 5/1000 of a sec.  Got decently off the line and into the lead at the start.  Kept Geoffers behind for almost 4 laps, but inevitably he slipped past - by a kamikaze outbraking manoeuvre at the hairpin, which really should have seen him overshoot, but he still got away faster than I could squeeze past on the inside.  Tried to keep up, but he quickly extended the gap.  Hoped the one-sided tyre wear of the Mini would make his fronts go before mine, but it seemed rather the opposite - I struggled increasingly with a left front that was taking a pounding, while he seemed to continue his pace unabated.  Quite lonely race after Geoffers slipped away; gap to 3rd kept growing too, so didn't see any other cars, except for a couple of backmarkers.

Grats to Geoffers for a convincing win  I Am Not Worthy

Commiserations to Kurt, Bill & Matt, who all seemed to have bad luck early on.

Bill: Regarding your sound problems; is it only in GTL ?   Occasionally, I may loose one or both channels of my sound, which is normally down to contamination of the contact surfaces in plugs and/or sockets, either on soundcard (main board), or in the speakers.  Moving the plugs in and out repeatedly scrapes it off, so contact is reestablished.

Clive: I have your chrome headlight surrounds - you left them at the hairpin. Just let me know where to send them...  Grin

Cheers,
Erling

Yeh, sorry about that Erling  oops. I knew from the previous laps that the Mini was better on the brakes there, but it was a bit more kamikaze than I intended. In fact I think I locked the fronts which made the car plough straight on rather than turning.

Enjoyed the race, great fun hurling the Mini around, just a couple of small mistakes at the Esses. Once I braked too much & got very sideways & only just saved it & another time I went in a bit too quick & had a trip across the grass! Shame we lost a few early on but once you get on that bank there is no escape!

Well done to all finishers  clap Cya soon.

Good fun last night. Started well and settled down to running in third. Had Clive chase me for quite a few laps and built a 10sec lead until I went in to hot at turn 1. Clive then passed me but I was able to catch him up after a few laps.
Then it was a lonely run to the flag.

Erling looks to have wrapped up this Championship but the battle for 2nd & 3rd looks quite tasty especially with only two to go.

No problem Geoffers - no contact after all  Smiley  Was sure I could do the classic 'dive under' manoeuvre, so very surprised when you recovered quickly enough to stay in front - but then, the Mini did seem very quick through and out of the hairpin.

Cheers,
Erling
