Just had a couple of laps around the server again and noticed something that perhaps I should have noticed before.

I selected the "internet" option when I join online, but there are other options. which should I be using? I also suffered from a screen blackout when someone else joined the server?? is this normal??

Sorry to be an infinite source of useless questions but... I am old(ish) and knowledge is only assimilated slowly  Roll Eyes
I selected Auto clutch whilst I am learning about these cars and only discovered after about 50 laps that I don't need to lift of the gas when upshifting. I assume that if I turn off Auto Clutch I will have to protect the engine from over revving?? Which comes more naturally to me anyway.
We have a choice of Hard or Soft tyres, what sort of time difference should I expect, 'cos i can't see one lol!!!

Anyway I'll give you a rest now. Off to practice for LOOOOONG 67 GPL race at Watkins Glen which we are running tonight if any of you guys fancy a challenge??  Wink

We love your questions, it gives us know-it-alls a chance to show off.

Internet is the correct option.

If a driver joins when you are on-line your PC has to load that drivers car so you can see it, otherwise he will be invisible. You have a setting under Options/Multiplayer that allows you to choose when to load the joining drivers car, straight away, when your going slow or when your back in your garage. Sounds like you need it set to the latter.

See the top of this graphic

I would suggest you keep auto clutch on but it's up to you. Cars vary and so do their levels of engine tolerance.

Tyre wear probably plays a bigger part in longer races. The soft options will give up on you quicker than the hards. Another reason to have XD installed. It shows tyre wear.

Good luck in your race tonight  thumbup2

Has anyone got GTL PD? I've got so used to using it in p&g and gtr2 that it's second nature to use it when practising and racing. Tried a google search but links seem old/broken.

Managed to squeeze in some praccy before I depart  Smiley. Managed a 1:28.7 in the F512 (with 15 laps fuel onboard) but no idea if that's any good as nowt to compare with. Car took a lot of setting up tweaks from the default to improve my times, dial out the understeer etc but again not sure what the ideal is for these beasts.  Undecided

Good fun cars though, love the back end stepping out in some corners and they sound great  Cool

Ps I thought the ffb and steering feel was wishy-washy until I copied my settings from p&g then if was night and day difference (using a Fanatec wheel)  Smiley

See you all at Monza  thumbup1

Nice tip. i will look into it too.

About the cars used, there is also some nice background info on the wiki pages. Also did some installation laps with a few cars on default setup and managed 1.30's.

You forgot to add that said knowledge also dissipates quickly.  So you may need telling again.

Anyway Evil me old mate, just one tiny step more and you will be in PnG land!  40 laps of Solitude tonight in a Capri. (No furry dice)

lol Hi Clive...are you out of therapy yet after getting me online in GPL?

....."just one small step for man, one giant leap for evil kind"

so what is this "small" step. I'll bet it ain't as simple as you think it is  Grin

BTW I am already drafting/preparing my apologies in anticipation of making a hugs cock-up in this Monza race tonight. These cars don't drive like proper (GPL) cars!! lol they have no "sideways" mode???

Doh!!! just noticed that this race is 6th Jan!!! why the heck did I think it was this evening???!!!!  blink Must not recycle old calenders...must buy a new one sometime!!!  Undecided so maybe a Capri seat can be warmed tonight...but somehow i think the stress of geting me hooked up might finish off Mr Loynes lol.

The small step is installing GTR2.

After that it's just a matter of downloading and installing PnG v3.1 and I'm sure that instructions for that are around somewhere.  Just can't remember where!   Grin

Race details are here:-  https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=11990#event3742

PS  Hristo put in a guest appearance a couple of rounds back.
PPS  Just noticed that the race announcement is wrong and should say:-   You will need to install Power and Glory v3.1 from:  http://www.gplegends.plus.com/downloads.html

see!! told you so!!

It isn't ONE small step...you lied to me again!!  lol  taz

I see at least 3 steps there, yes

1) Install GTR2.....I need to go and find that as I don't have that
2) download PnG v3.1
3) Install PnG v3.1

Then I bet, we have the fun of getting into a forum/lobby/server??? I reckon that you were being "economical with the truth again Loynes!"

But, never say that I do not try...off to see if GTR2 is on special offer online somewhere....... and don't complain if a wayward Capri dents your bootlid this evening!!
